User questions & answers
Question: | Has anyone used this on a convertible crib? Our 13 mo old co-sleeps with us and want her in her own bed but she's a wild sleeper |
Answer: | The rail is 43-inches long. When the crib is converted to a toddler or day bed it would probably work. But, it would depend on how the convertable crib was designed as some have built in guard rail. |
Question: | Does the rail swing down to be flat against the base of the bed? The photo makes it appear as though it swings down, but may rest at an angle. Thanks |
Answer: | The first response is correct, if the boxspring and frame are high enough off the ground the rail will swing down and lay flat. Just installed my sons this week and the bed and frame are super high so it lays flat w/ no issues. For reference the TOP of my box spring is 21in off the floor, this leaves a 2in gap between the floor and the rail when it is in the down position. |
Question: | Will this work on a mattress which i placed directly on the floor without box spring |
Answer: | No. The rail is held in place by a strap that goes under the mattress. at the end is a piece of plastic that forms a T with the strap. In other words, part of the plastic sticks up, and part sticks down. this keeps the rail from slipping. If you put the mattress on the floor, the "T" wouldn't be in a proper position and wouldn't hold it. I think you're going to need a box spring for it to work properly. |
Question: | I have a bunk bed that has at least a dozen wooden slats but no boxspring or plywood piece. Would it work for me |
Answer: | This bedrail will only work "properly" for a bed with mattress and a boxspring. It will also work for any other bed like wooden beds but you wont be able to pull it down to the side of the bed. Just keep it upright all the time. The thing is the main frame of the bed on the side will prevent you from folding the bedrail down. If the wooden bed has slats, just tie the two supporting part of the bedframe to two corresponding slats, You may use a packaging tape to tape it in place. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Cuanto mide empacada? Necesito meterlo en una maleta para viajar fuera del país |
Answer: | No es casi la Medida de una twin cama |
Question: | Does this work for Daybeds that do not have a boxspring |
Answer: | I used it on our day bed and it worked just fine. It fit tightly, and our 3 year old grandson was safe and secure in the bed. |
Question: | How easy is the swing down function? Is it in the way for changing sheets/mattress pad? I would be using it for a child who is not yet potty trained |
Answer: | The swing down function isn't necessarily easy, but I think the way it is designed is the easiest way it can get while still being secure. It has two flip up/down locks on either end of the rails. Flipping the locks can be done with one hand, but you can really only do one at a time. The rail doesn't really get in the way when changing the sheets, although it is best to flip the rail down when doing so. When properly installed, I feel very sure that my daughter will not roll off the bed, or that the device would fail; it feels very sturdy. We are using it on a full size mattress and there is a gap in between the footboard and the end of the rail big enough for an adult to sit on the edge of the bed while the rail is up. So our daughter can also climb on and off the end of the bed while the rail is up. This doesn't pose a risk for us being that our daughter doesn't roll much at night. I am not sure as to how this bed rail would effect the not yet potty trained child. Either way, I definitely recommend this product. |
Question: | Has anyone actually used this on a king sized bed and can confirm it works without issue and is secure |
Answer: | I'm surprised to see responses saying this fits a king sized bed. The straps on the one I purchased in April 2018 are clearly too short. This would work for a queen or smaller, but no way will it fit a king. Perhaps the manufacturer changed the strap size within the past year or two. Odd that they would do that. I have to return the product. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How do I connect the pocket |
Answer: | Can anyone else answer this question? There is no snapping in place mechanism on my pocket and it is evading all logic how it’s supposed to work. The otherwise great instructions don’t give any details on the pocket attachment. |
Question: | What is the difference between the 6800BA and the BAH |
Answer: | Hello,The 6800BA is for a quantity of 3 and the 6800BAH is just for a quantity of 1.Thanks |
Question: | What is the overall HEIGHT of this bedside assist when installed |
Answer: | Depends on the height of your mattress. It comes about 15 inches over the top of our mattress. I has been a literal lifesaver for us as my husband can hold on to it to pull himself up and to get his balance before standing up. Before the Medline Assist Bar he slid out of bed many times and had a very hard time getting us without assistance. Now he can do it himself! Saves straining my arms to help him. A real lifesaver! |
Question: | One person said this would fit a queen size bed, another noted extra stapping was needed. Which is it |
Answer: | We have this on a king size bed, my husband says he didnt use any extra strapping to attach it to the bed. Hope that helps! There are times we have to push it back in because depending on how much, how often and which way you use it it can start to slide out from between the box spring and mattress. Its not a big deal though though im only 5'1" and have no problems getting it back in place by my self. |

User questions & answers
Question: | It look like the distance between the horizontal rails and the grab bar is fixed. What is the distance between the horizontal rails and the grab bar |
Answer: | The grab bar height is actually adjustable. It looks like the grab rail is ABOUT 34" - 39" from the floor. I do not have it installed, so that may be off a little. I can't install it because the legs (even though ajustable) are too tall for my older box spring & frame. Before it can work at my house it would have to fit between the box spring and mattress. My mattress is a little over 14" off the ground. The legs are about 16" tall at their lowest, so installed, the stabilizing bar lifts the mattress off the box spring top. That is a rough measurement because I can't lift the mattress by myself to get the stabilizing bar back in there. Lost my helper to the surgery for a while yet - so I can't be exact. No lifting here at all for a couple more weeks. Sorry about that. It would be a good idea for the right bed. Maybe the manufacturer can give the exact measurements. The adjustable ranges are not printed in the documentation. Unfortunately I tossed it all as well as the box so I can't help with manufacturer's name either. |
Question: | What is the weight capacity for this and will it prevent falling out of bed as well as help getting up |
Answer: | I don't know what the weight capacity is, my husband is 6'3" and weighs 215 lbs and it works for him. As far as falling out of bed, it depends on where you place it. It definitely helps getting in and out of bed. My mom is 91 and we have one for her as she falls out of bed frequently and she hasn't fallen out singe installing it on her bed. |
Question: | Is it possible to place this with the legs inside the bed frame instead of the outside? I'm concerned my dad would trip over the legs |
Answer: | The legs do not stick out but sit right up next to the bed frame if you put the device up under the mattress far enough. My mom loves hers. Helps her turn over and sit up on the edge of the bed. She uses a walker also and there is no problem with the device interfering with the walker. |
Question: | What is the lowest it can be adjusted to? How far does it insert under the mattress |
Answer: | The lowest adjustment to the handle height is sixteen inches (16") from the floor to the box mattress, the highest is 20 plus inches (20" plus). We have a low profile box mattress (13" from floor) so it didn't work. It goes under the mattress 32" to 40". I could see where this item would work very well with a higher box mattress (16" plus from the floor) and therein lies the problem for us. |

User questions & answers
Question: | can this be used without a headboard |
Answer: | Upholstered headboard? |
Question: | Can I attached an headboard? Thanks |
Answer: | You cannot attach a headboard with a 5/16 in screw! We bought a headboard and the screws it came with would not fit through the small holes of the bed frame. Had to chisel away at the bed frame holes to make the screw fit. And it took forever and was super frustrating |
Question: | Does the height allow storage for under the bed, i.e. a suitcase? Would the size of a large suitcase or boxes fit with the center bar and many feet |
Answer: | There is only about 6 inches of height under the bed. So depending on the suitcase height it may or may not fit. There is quite a bit of room on both sides of the center bar but again the height is only 6 inches so only small or flat items would fit. |
Question: | My questions are about the "feet" on the bottom of the legs? What is the material? Does it last or crack and leave a sharp metal on the floor? Can yo |
Answer: | There are rubber "feet" on the end of the steel legs to prevent dents and marks left on your floor. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can this be used on a platforn with bed rails going across vs lengthwise |
Answer: | I have a platform bed also. I put it between the box spring & the mattress. There is a strap that goes around and secures so it can not be pulled out. It is very sturdy. I have used mine with much success. |
Question: | How long is the strap |
Answer: | Looonnnggg. It easily wraps around the biz springs of a queen size bed (60” width) and back around to the straps to lock and tighten solid to the bed. The extension posts go under the mattress almost all the way across the bed for stability, the two straps wrap under the base to lock it in place. |
Question: | Are the dimensions listed height, width and depth under mattress in that order? In other words is the 31.5 the height of the rail |
Answer: | sorry, it's in Texas and we're back at Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri |
Question: | How wide is the side rail? How tall is the side rail? Does it hold firm just by putting it under the mattress |
Answer: | It's 18 " W - 20" H With out the middle bar it's 17" H. I have a 10" memory foam mattress so I attached mine to the frame. It's not a rail, it's a grip bar to help pull yourself up. I love mine it works great. I'd give it a five star. Sincerely N. C. |

User questions & answers
Question: | will this fit an ikea sundvik convertible crib |
Answer: | It should. I am not sure if you have seen the ones at toysrus but this one is smaller. I have a convertible crib for my son, and this fits perfect! The one I bought at toyrus was to long, and there was no space for my son to get off the bed. |
Question: | Will the legs damage an air mattress |
Answer: | There is nothing sharp so I can’t see it damaging the mattress, provided it isn’t over filled. |
Question: | Will it work with a king sized platform bed with slats |
Answer: | No. This is a very small security rail meant for use for a convertible crib and crib mattress only. If you need something for a larger bed consider the regular sized bed rails they sell. |
Question: | Hi. Does this rail work with wood frame or only spring |
Answer: | works with anything...its pretty much held down by the mattress |

User questions & answers
Question: | is it strong enough for an adult to pull them self up |
Answer: | No, they are held together by a "ribbon" underneath the mattress and can easily come away from the mattress and have to be tightened again. My two year old (almost 3) likes to kick them and I constantly have to tighten them again. Not strong enough to hold an adult pulling on them |
Question: | Does it get wore out and fold down easy if they were to try to roll off |
Answer: | Bought these for my 2 rambunctious twins and neither has had that happen. And they're all over the bed when they sleep and rough housing with older brother when awake :) |
Question: | Is there a weight limit for this products |
Answer: | I couldn’t find anything about weight here or any other place I looked but they are definitely not secure enough for an adult. I would say 100 and less. |
Question: | does this product come with one railing or two |
Answer: | It comes with two railings and works well. |

User questions & answers
Question: | does this assist have a strap to hold it to the springs or bed frame |
Answer: | I am not sure what that answer means. The hinge is on the right while facing the frigerator. Feeling under the top it feels like the door could be reversed to the left as there is a hole under the top. And the plug on the right can be removed. Hope this helps. |

Answer: | I don't recall it having a strap. If it came with one, we didn't feel a need to use it. The frame attached to the bed rail goes far enough across between the mattress & box springs that a strap isn't necessary. My MIL has a queen size bed, and this rail has worked great. |
Question: | Does the twin/full size also fit a twin xl mattress? the picture of the instructions seem to indicate that this can be used with an twin xl bed |
Answer: | I do not have a sleep number bed. However, I can not imagine any problem, unless the bed/ mattress folds. Then, there might be a problem, if you want the bar to extend over the fold. If you place the entire bar on the level part of the mattress, it might more difficult to get out of bed. Some other responders say they have Sleep Number Beds and there is no problem in using this product. If their beds fold upward raising your head and upper torso, then there would be nothing for you to worry about. This bar is a great help. However, it is more difficult to make the bed then than without the bar structure. |
Question: | will frame accomodate 4" bolt spacing |
Answer: | My bed is approximately 14 3/4 inches from the floor to the bottom of the mattress. There is some adjustment available on the legs when you set it up. I think it should be fine. |
Question: | What are the measurements of the bolt plates? I'm interested in using this as side rails for an antique bed |
Answer: | The piece that goes under the mattress is a tubular frame. Your body weight holds it down. I'm a big guy, yet this bed rail is very strudy. Overall, a great product. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How are the brackets and the plywood fixed to the assembly |
Answer: | Hello, they are fixed with screw. You can attached a piece of plywood (about 2 feet long by 18" wide) to brackets, then set it under the mattress. |
Question: | Your picture shows the rail on the left side of the bed with the release button at the head of the bed. Can this rail be used on theother side |
Answer: | Yes, we put them on so that the release is at the foot of the bed. I really like the rails on whole. But one of the latches has bent and can now pinch if I am not careful. |
Question: | \Can someone explain how the 5" brackets and the plywood are assembled. If the plywood goes between the box spring and the mattress won't there be a h |
Answer: | We removed the box springs and put the plywood on the frame and attached it there and then had the mattress on top of that |
Question: | One photo shows the top horizontal slightly above the top of the mattress in the folded down position. Is it like that? Tough getting in or out |
Answer: | depends on how you install the brace. the way i placed it for my cousin it is slightly below the mattress and is easy to get into bed. |
