How to operate:

1. Insert batteries in the proper orientation in the battery compartment.

2. Press the Power button

note: for 2-3 seconds, the display screen will show all icons before most of the icons disappear

3. I hold the sensing head (the part with the hole) as close to my forehead without touching my forehead, but not more than 5 cm from my forehead. Then, I press Power button again; a reading is produced in 2-3 seconds.

This thermometer gives consistent readings, according to tests I did:

First, I pointed the thermometer at the forehead of a family member and took a reading.

Second, after 10 seconds, but keeping thermometer at same distance from the forehead (not further than 5 cm from the forehead, according to user manual), I took a 2nd reading.

Third, I repeated step 2.

Fourth, I repeated step 2.

All 4 readings were within 0.2 - 0.8 degrees of each other (the difference being that I just couldn't hold the thermometer as steady as I wanted to).

note: I didn't have an oral thermometer available, so I couldn't compare how a reading from an oral thermometer compares to a non-contact one.
