Please note though that when your blood perfusion level is low or when your hands are cold, the device may need more time to optimize and register an accurate reading. In this instance, we suggest that you warm your hands and fingers before taking the measurements. You can do this simply by rubbing your hands together. Remember your pulse oximeter is measuring your SpO2 and PR based on your blood flow. If the blood flow in your finger drops below a certain level, the pulse oximeter will not be able to function. | Answer: | I have Raynaud’s. I am 60 yr old female recovering from Covid19. You will need to warm your hands up. This is true if you were in the best hospital. Run them under warm water and dry them before getting a read. Also, this will not work with acrylic nails. You will have to either put your finger in upside down or you can use your toe. Raynauds will make your toes cold too, so heat them up a little bit. Wear socks for a bit and then use the device. I did this both ways and got identical results. It works perfect. |

We believe an accurate reading appears after 5-8 waveforms(one peak and one trough are considered as a half waveform) displaying on the screen, usually, the readings are stable by that time. With less blood going to your fingers, there won't be as much hemoglobin to absorb the light, giving you a false low reading. In this case, please try to warm up your hands before taking a measurement. One good way is to massage your hands by rubbing them gently against each other. Doing some hand exercise would also increase blood circulation.
