Answer:	Yes the brace can get wet, my wife got hers wet several times while she was using it. The brace is made of plastic, the padding is foam covered with nylon and velcro. The knee joint is geared and lubed so after extended use near water a person may need to add lithium grease to keep it working smoothly. It is a great brace for the price.

Answer:	brace was prescribed for me to offload and help with the weakness in my knee due to valgus deformity from severe arthritis for which I am not ready for a knee replacement yet. It helps to keep my knee from dislocating. This is actually my second offloader brace. Drawbacks are: velcro wears out after about 1.5 years and company states they don't have replaceable parts for it.
