User questions & answers
Question: | What are some tricks to getting the 25x to focus and be as sharp at the 10x eyepieces? Can you only use the 25x for the 100x with oil |
Answer: | It really isn’t that useful to use the 25x ocular lenses, the 10x work fine, but using the 25 x reduces the field of view so much that unless you are looking at something and need a small area magnified I suggest you don’t need them. You can use it with the 100x but it won’t work well because it goes above the reducing power of the lens. Pretty much 100 x 10 is the top end of good resolution. |
Question: | Ex i want question about sending date,,if you want sending this microscope to all over the united state,s for us,,how much it long time aboutly |
Answer: | I don't think it took more than a week to arrive |
Question: | Does this have a top light? That lights up things from the top not just from below |
Answer: | Actually I don't think it does have a top light. All of the magnification is up on top and the light is in the base. There are other items you can buy to attach to this scope however like an external viewer for example or to take photographs or a slide. It is a really great scope....as good as the ones I used in college! |
Question: | Is this microscope strong enough to identify and differentiate between species of mold |
Answer: | This is a pretty inexpensive microscope and the optics, while offering up to 2000 x magnification, are not great. Considering Galileo used optics he made himself I would say if you employ ingenuity and creativity you will be able to differentiate mold species. I've seen some amazing things with my microscope. The 2000 magnification uses the oil immersion technique for clarity. |

AmScope B120C Siedentopf Binocular Compound Microscope
Description:
The B120C binocular compound microscope is designed for teaching demonstrations, clinical examinations and laboratory applications. It is an ideal microscope for teachers and students, including those in medical school or with a major in biology. It has a number of advancements in functionality compared to other microscopes in its class, such as enhanced LED lighting, replaceable condenser, and Siedentopf head adjustments. Use the microscope for studying fixed or live cells, bacteria, plants and soil, or water samples.
To customize the microscope to your viewing comfort, the eyepiece spacing can be easily adjusted using a precision Siedentopf mechanism. A diopter is available on the left ocular tube to compensate for asymmetry, and the ocular tubes are angled at 30° to comfortably accommodate a seated position without neck strain. Various eyepieces can be used to increase the overall optical magnification.
Four high-quality objective lenses are provided, mounted to a rotating turret for instant access to the large range of magnifications. Additional 25X eyepieces extend the maximum magnification to 2500X, and provide 6 distinct levels of magnification. The high-quality lenses are achromatically corrected to improve resolution and color accuracy.
The 2-layer mechanical stage provides smooth and precise movement for examination of specimen slides. The stage's low-position controls are conveniently placed near the coaxial focus knobs for a streamlined workflow. Examining specimen slides is intuitive and precise for users at any skill level.
The LED sub-stage lighting provides cool, energy-efficient illumination. The light-source is daylight balanced to produce natural colors for imaging. With our specially developed fly-eye lens, the light is evenly distributed at maximum brightness to improve contrast and resolution.
Features:
- A professional biological microscope for education, clinics and vets, and entry-level research

- The mechanical stage provides a full range of movement with easy-to-use precision controls.
User questions & answers
Question: | What kind of connection is used to output to a monitor |
Answer: | Yes, you can. They sell a still and video camera as well. http://www.amscope.com/5-0-mega-pixel-usb-still-photo-live-video-microscope-imager-digital-camera-5mp.htmlhttp://www.amscope.com/0-3-mega-pixel-usb-live-video-microscope-imager-digital-camera.html |
Question: | Is there an attachment to enable precise movement of the slide on the stage |
Answer: | Not really. The tapered lens of the SM-1TZ means that the light wants to slide off the end of the lens onto the platform. If you removed the mounting screws and attached it to the microscope using mini bungee cords or rubberbands it could work though. Search Amazon for B004XDC0A8 to find some Keeper yellow mini bungee cords, if that would work for you. Just make sure to connect them in a way that won't shoot your eye out if the cord broke or came undone... |
Question: | Is this microscope powerful enough to see amebas in pond scum |
Answer: | Yes. The lens is configured to accept magnification adapters that screw on. There is an area just above where the three screws set into place and holds the light. We use ours without any problems. We do use an additional flex arm LED purchased from Amazon that fully illuminates the work. |
Question: | Can this show the view on a computer |
Answer: | I don't know if it has a specific warranty, but there should be a "returnable by" date when you buy it. Amazon is good about handling returns. I have not had any problems with the light, but I noticed that someone else had a defective one that they returned with no trouble. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How do you turn it on? All I get is the opening setup screen and no instructions |
Answer: | been a while since I have used mine, however, connect power cord to wall, or use 4 AA batteries, then I turn lights on, and push and hold screen power button. after that, this is a "touch Screen" so there are hidden commands that you can pull up by touching the lower or upper "edge" of the screen. they will come to view then. did your microscope come with a manual (about 4 pages in english, the rest is all other languages) ? |
Question: | The reviews posted are often for other Celestron microscopes. I would like to know specifically how this model performs. Can someone post a review |
Answer: | Like others, I have a different model (44345), but all models are pretty much the same, Mine is listed as a 5mp, but there are doc's listing it as 2mp and others as 5mp, You will replace the objectives! so don't buy it for them. The top LED is trash not bright enough for anything I have found! The unit has a auto focus and white balance with no way adjust or shut it off.So in the beginning it was almost useless to me, I added better Objectives and then discovered I could over power the auto light adjust. The cost of Microscope light are VERY high, so I added a Sewing machine LED lamp about $100 cheaper.I use it for insects, I have to trick it to get a good Pic, I flood it with light then turn down the base light with the disk (to almost blocking the light). Also it readjust the light after ever pic.I am getting what I need to complete the job.The Base stand is nice, I got mine at Fry's |
Question: | Looking at grains of sand and foraminifera: will it work for solids |
Answer: | My wife is a AKC judge and a breeder of " COLLIES " " you know like Lassie come home".She uses your product for checking sperm and absolutley loves it. gbm |

Question: | Is there anything to prevent a glass slide from being damaged by someone moving the eyepiece too far towards the stage |
Answer: | The stage cannot move up beyond a fixed point. The longest objective lens is the 40X lens; it is the only objective lens that can touch a glass slide when the stage is moved up. Moving the stage up too far, the user will find that the glass slide will touch the 40X lens. However the tip of the 40X lens does retract 3 mm, minimizing the possibility of damage to the glass slide. I have not broken a glass slide yet with the SW200DL. |
Question: | How to replace batteries in my microscope how to open battery compartment |
Answer: | Dear Lisa, Thank you for your question. First, you need to unscrew the battery case lid from the bottom of the unit with the allen wrench comes with the package. Then you will see a “Right Arrow” mark on the cover of the battery case, push the cover to the right and the case can be opened. Please kindly let us know if any questions. All the best Annie |
