Answer:	It does appear to be made from wood, not sure about the specific species. There is a metal ring around the top opening and a metal disk near the inside bottom with three holes for smoke to exit. The stem is a plastic/resin material similar to most other pipe stems. When the stem is removed for leaning, there is a metal filter that collects tars from the smoke that is easily cleaned with pipe cleaners. I also purchased a small 5-bristle brush cleaning kit for the stem filter and the 3 holes in the metal disc near the bottom of the pipe.
