Use As a Nubber

The PerfecDraw is “Perfec” when used as a nubber. Many nubbers can be bulky, right where they pierce into the cigars; especially with double piercing needles. But the PerfecDraw provides a very thin shaft, and the design of the blades keep your cigar from rotating on the shaft.

How the PerfecDraw is designed

The working shaft is precisely designed with sharp 30 degree angle tobacco cutting blades, as well as sharp 90 degree angle tobacco pulling channels. It removes small bits of tobacco exactly where needed and pulls on the surrounding tightly packed tobacco to loosen the draw. It has a sharp, tapered, flattened spade tip to chew up the tobacco as you twist it into the cigar. This prevents outward expansion to prevent damage and cracking of the wrapper even on thin cigars.

We don’t simply want to drill a hole up the middle of the cigar. We want smoke to travel through the tobacco, not through a hole in the tobacco. The tobacco pulling channels loosen up the surrounding tobacco so when you continue to smoke, the humidified vapor traveling up the cigar quickly causes the loosened tobacco to relax, expand and fill the area where tobacco was removed.

How the PerfecDraw is constructed

The outer casing of the PerfecDraw is made of heat hardened aerospace grade 6061 T-6 aluminum. It also has a black anodized, 25-micron deep, “hard coat” for exceptional durability. The PerfecDraw working shaft and blades are constructed using a beautiful non-corrosive 304 surgical stainless steel.

Can the hydrometer be esily swapped out on this humidor

Answer:

The reviewers that have stated the PerfecDraw is too short to open a robusto all the way through have probably not watched or paid attention to the video instructions for use. The PerfecDraw was specifically designed to handle up to a Churchill size cigar (7") or even a double corona (7.5"). A robusto is typically only 5" long. The actual shaft of the PerfecDraw that can be inserted into the cigar is 4". The video instructions show to check the "cold draw" of your cigar before you light it up. If the draw is not open to EXACTLY your ideal preference (could be plugged, tight, snug or even "acceptable"), use the PerfecDraw to adjust or fine-tune the draw until it's absolutely ideal for your personal preference of draw resistance or openness. The vast majority of the time you'll only need to use the PerfecDraw within the first one inch of the head of the cigar. Sometimes you'll extend the PerfecDraw all the way to the full depth from the head end of the cigar. On very rare occasions the cigar is tight enough that you need to enter the cigar from the foot end to loosen the draw. The whole idea behind the design was to make the PerfecDraw extremely convenient to take with you anywhere, and to be able to easily fit into any cigar tool kit, along with your cutter, lighter, etc. Also, a very important consideration is protection from having the PerfecDraw go through the side of the cigar (through the wrapper). The longer the shaft, and the deeper you push the shaft down the center of your cigar, the more potential there is for the shaft to go off-center without realizing it -- resulting in poking through the side of the cigar. At 4" length, it is very easy to prevent this from happening, even on a more narrow ring gauge stick. Just be sure to watch the instructional video at the PerfecDraw website prior to use. Answer:	Hygrometer pushes out from the inside. But you would need to find an exact match hygrometer to fit in its place which is not easy to do. I would suggest leaving the current hygro in place and using a different one set inside the humidor

Answer:	The PerfecDraw could possibly replace a cutter, but by no means was it designed for that, nor would we recommend using it like that. The intent is to either cut or punch the end of your cigar. Then check the "cold draw". If needed, then use the PerfecDraw. I would very strongly suggest that you go to the PerfecDraw site to watch the videos before you buy. The videos will show you exactly how the PerfecDraw is designed to be used. Question:	Do I have to season the Boveda wood pack holder itself
Answer:	I assume you're speaking of the photo of the PerfecDraw twisted into the very short nub of a cigar. That is called "nubbing" a cigar. Most cigar smokers discard the cigar when they've smoked it down to "the nub". Many cigars acquire a very strong, unacceptable taste by the time they're smoked down that short. And certainly it becomes difficult or even impossible to hold the nub when it's that short. So you just discard the nub. But sometimes that cigar is just so tasty that you want to smoke every little bit of it. So you use something called a "nubber" to poke into the side of the cigar (the nub) to hold the cigar instead of holding it with your fingers. When using the PerfecDraw to adjust the draw of a cigar, yes, you rotate it into the cigar and pull it straight out, which removes small bits of tobacco. This is not what you do when using the PerfecDraw as a nubber. You simply twist the PerfecDraw into the cigar, but you don't pull it out (until you're done smoking the nub). The longitudinal channels in the PerfecDraw "grab" onto the tobacco and prevent the nub from rotating around the PerfecDraw, and the PerfecDraw itself seals the hole. Answer:	My personal opinion I wouldn’t do it. Could change taste of cigars. Either on humidor lid or on the sides.

Answer:	I am only familiar with one size. The packs it holds are 5 and 1/4 by 3 and 1/4. About 1/8th inch thick.
Question:	Does this product take batteries for the thermometer
Answer:	Ideally, if you can season the holder it will just increase the stability of the overall humidor. Otherwise you're introducing a dry element that requires moisture to equilibrate at the same relative humidity as the rest of the components inside the humidor. But if you don't want to spend the time, it's not the end of the world as long as everything else is well seasoned.
