I have it plugged into a 30 amp 12v outlet hooked to 2 six volt deep cycle batteries wired in series for 12 volt, so plenty of power. I think the advertised 600 watt surge capacity is not long enough to start the compressor. I'm going to order a capacitor to help with the surge and see if that works.

Answer:	Like others said this is an extension cord and has nothing to do with generating power. The 12 VDC Female Lighter Socket in the front as well as any auxiliary 12VDC Female Power Socket located in the front seating area, rear seating area, and in the cargo (Trunk) areas of many SUVs and Minivans are all powered from same 12 VDC battery. Most newer vehicles today require the ignition switch to be in the accessory turned on position for the 12 VDC Power to be available. If you are powering something that has a dc motor like an air compressor that fills your tires or in your case a refrigerator, the engine must be on all the time, or you will drain your car battery within minutes. Think of it this way, if you leave your headlights or running lights on while the car is parked for a couple hours, plan on a dead battery when you return, if you left your inside map light on overnight, plan on a dead battery. A refrigerator draws a lot of power and should only be plugged into a AC source or through a AC-DC-AC Converter, not a DC-AC Converter. Bottom line is extension cords have no active devices, maybe a fuse to blow if you exceed the fuse current rating. Hope this helps.
