Question:	Are they septic safe
Answer:	"Septic safe" on the box means it won't corrode pipes and concrete (tank). That misses the essential element, will it disturb the ecology of the tank (kill the bacteria that are essential for septic operation). Caustic materials like drain cleaner are very bad for your septic, bleach not so bad probably because of the dilution in the washer. I am relating here the information conveyed to me by my county department of licenses and inspection septic system expert and a licensed septic inspector. So the anlswer depends on the materials used, which are not stated anywhere. 7 months is not sufficient time to evaluate. You don't want to learn after three years that you've poisoned the system and clogged the drainage field, requiring a $8,000 to $10,000 job to replace something that should have lasted 40 years. Here's what's in it according to the safety data sheet supplied by Whirlpool via Home Depot: Polyoxy(methyl-1,2-ethanediyl), a-hydro-w-hydroxy- 1% Sodium Carbonate Peroxyhydrate 50% - 70% Boric Acid 20% - 30% Sodium Carbonate 20% - 30% Tetrasodium EDTA 1% Most of these are found in everyday laundry detergent. Tetrasodium EDTA is a preservative. The long weird name stuff is the joker in the mix, perhaps more research is needed. I'm not sure I will risk using this in my washer, as I try to take good care of my septic system. Answer:	Since I have a Maytag HE washer and have used this product with excellent success. I would say yes. Answer:	I does NOT smell like bleach, however, it does have a very strong, clean smell, almost like an industrial clean. This is fine for me because I want my machine clean. This item has been the #1 product to deal with any kind of smell coming from a front load washer. I would suggest running a rinse cycle after to dilute the scent left behind and get rid of any possible residual cleaning debris. Leave the door open afterward and the smell will dissipate after a few days, the drum will remain smelling clean without any moldy or mildew odor. The product works. Those complaining just don't want to wait a bit to use the machine again or run a rinse cycle after, which is fine, that's their preference. I have used many machine cleaning products, none work like this and the ones with pretty scents leave a film all over the machine and cause more mold to accumulate.

Answer:	The box does not say if any ingredients were tested on animals. The ingredients are: Sodium percarbonate, Sodium carbonate, Glucono-delta-lactone, Polyethylene glycol, Sodium acetate, and Fragrance. Affresh products are made by Whirlpool so I checked their safety data sheet (www.affresh.com/sds). The fragrance was tested using IFRA standards. The IFRA website (https://ifrafragrance.org/search?indexCatalogue=general-search&searchQuery=Animal) says they are incorporating non-animal testing, but it appears they are just now in transition. It is a “Safer Choice” product, meaning it doesn’t contain ingredients known to be harmful to the environment. Hope this helps!
Question:	When I put powder directly in the drum it falls through the holes when the drum turns, before the water starts filling. Help
Answer:	I had a 9 year old Samsung front loader that I cleaned once a month with vinegar and baking soda using the sanitize cycle. About a month ago I heard a loud bang and the drum started scraping the sides. I called the repairman and he said he thought the repair would run about $400. That was too much so I gave the machine to a guy and he took it apart and found the spider-arm (holds the drum) had shattered. That's what the repairman thought it was. The drum and spider-arm were completely covered with a mass of soap scum buildup. So I would say Vinegar does not help AT-ALL. I bought a Maytag top loader without an agitator. It has a cycle called "clean washer with Affresh" which I will use every month. It sounds like cheap insurance on future damage.

Question:	Can I use this in my HE machine
Answer:	I called General Electric company to ask whether I should use Fabric softener or vinegar in my washer, as I'd heard differing opinions. Fabric softener can "coat" the mechanism in your washer...but the manufacturer suggested using softener and then using Tide washing machine cleaner about once a month to get rid of that residue.
Question:	Is the date on the bottom really an expiration date or a manufacture date
Answer:	Affresh always cakes up in my front loader and I don't like the smell. These pouches do way better for me and they're usually cheaper than Affresh!
