Answer:	This amp is solid state so *NO* you do *NOT* need a cab. Headphones will not sound as good, but you can use them without connecting the amp to a speaker. Only tube amps need a load.

Answer:	Yeah, kinda... It is POSSIBLE, but I'd highly recommend taking the speaker out signal (with a proper speaker cable, NOT instrument cable) to a Behringer GI 100 Direct box. I use the speaker cab emulation switch on it and I like how it sounds through our mixer and PA. The box is only ~$40 and well worth the investment. Together with this amp, you have an awesome direct rig. I use it in churches and gigs all the time.
Question:	Is it safe to use on hardwood floors
Answer:	Yes. That being said, mic the cabs and have everything run through the PA. Easier to get a balanced sound. Gain at 12:00 gives you cleans when you play softly and crunch when you dig in. Running volume at 12:00 was fine for rehearsing without cabs mic'd and perfect for performance with them mic'd. Plenty to loudness to spare.
