About Basic Care Miconazole Nitrate Vaginal Cream (4%)

Miconazole Nitrate Vaginal Cream (4%) active ingredient is miconazole nitrate 4% (200 mg in each applicator), vaginal antifungal.

This product contains 4% miconazole nitrate cream in 3 prefilled applicators that cures most vaginal yeast infections.

Do not use this product if this is the first time you have vaginal discharge, itching, burning and discomfort. See your doctor or health professional first to find out the cause of your symptoms.

Understanding Yeast Infections

A vaginal yeast infection is a common condition caused by an overgrowth of yeast (Candida) that may normally live in the vagina. Your doctor may call this infection “monilia” or “candidiasis.” Some women may have a yeast infection on the skin outside of the vagina (vulva) at the same time that they have a vaginal infection.

Note: Vaginal yeast infections do NOT cause fever, chills, lower abdominal, back or shoulder pain, foul-smelling vaginal discharge, or a missed period. These may be signs of a sexually transmitted disease (STD) or a tubal pregnancy. If you have these symptoms, call your doctor right away.

You can get a vaginal yeast infection at any age. It is most common during the childbearing years. Women who are pregnant or diabetic, taking antibiotics, birth control pills or steroids, or who have a weakened immune system are more likely to get repeated yeast infections that may not clear up easily with proper treatment.

Can I use this product during my menstrual period?

Yes, this product can be used during your menstrual period. In fact, many women get vaginal yeast infections just before their period because of hormonal changes. Using this product during your period will not affect how well this product works. If you have started treatment and your period occurs, you should complete the full course of treatment.

Do not use tampons while using this product, because tampons may remove some of the drug from the vagina. Use deodorant-free sanitary napkins or pads instead, and change them often.

Can I use other vaginal products with this product?

This drug should not be used with other vaginal products. • Douches and tampons may remove some of the cream from the vagina. • Spermicides may interfere with this product. • Condoms and diaphragms may be damaged by this product and fail to prevent pregnancy or sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).

Why do women get repeated vaginal yeast infections?

Listed below are some of the causes of repeated yeast infections: hormonal changes occurring a few days before the monthly period; use of antibiotics; use of some birth control pills; pregnancy; diabetes ('sugar' or 'high blood sugar'); clothing - wearing tight layers or moist clothing in the genital area; weakened immune system - some drugs (such as chemotherapy or steroids) and medical conditions can weaken the body's normal ability to fight infection.

If you get vaginal yeast infections often (such as once a month or 3 in 6 months), you should talk to a doctor.

Are vaginal yeast infections sexually transmitted?

Vaginal yeast infections are usually not spread by having intercourse (sex). However, if your partner has a rash, itching or discomfort in his genital area, he should contact a doctor to find out the cause of his symptoms and tell the doctor that you are treating your vaginal yeast infection with this product.

User questions & answers

Question: Can u use this outer skin
Answer: It comes with a cream for the outer skin. But if that’s all you need you can buy just the cream and save money.
Question: Oh my god!!! why does it burn
Answer: It's because it's so concentrated. The 7 day treatment burns less but the affects aren't as fast either.
Question: Has anyone ever used this for hair growth? I’ve seen videos on YouTube
Answer: Yes. If you mix this cream with an oil. Olive oil works well. 1/3 part cream., 2/3 Carrier oil of your choice. I applied this on my scalp after shampooing my hair/ sleep with it or leave for abt 2 hrs. Wash out in the morning. Apply everyday for 3 months max at a time and there have been positive results. There is shedding after u stop using it but, try an msm supplement to mitigate that aftereffect. There are several videos on YouTube for this. It has worked for me as well. After 3months your body gets use to it and it doesn't work. so do it for 3months at a time with 1-2 month breaks in between- work well for me. good luck
Question: Can men use this
Answer: Yes, The very same yeast that causes vaginal infections in women can cause infections of the penis in men. So, you can safely use over-the-counter anti-fungal treatments such as Monistat - even though these products are labeled "for vaginal use" - to treat male yeast infections. Over-the-counter yeast infection treatments such as Monistat are marketed to women because genital yeast infections are much more common in women than in men.To treat a male yeast infection, apply the medication directly to the affected skin on your penis twice daily for about a week. If the rash doesn't go away after about a week or if it recurs frequently, you should get a medical evaluation. Persistent or recurring yeast infections can be associated with other medical conditions such as diabetes.http://www.riversideonline.com/health_reference/mens-health/an01391.cfm

User questions & answers

Question: Is this the same as dapsone
Answer: No
Question: Is it a tablet or salve
Answer: It’s not a tablet. It’s more like a gel cap (soft like that) and inside it has the cream. It’s comfortable and easy to use. Use it right before going to bed.
Question: If item is not needed can you return it unopened
Answer: Amazon specifically states that it is a non-returnable product. I’m using the iOS Amazon app, so it could be in a different location when using different ways to access Amazon, but for me, the statement that “This item is non-returnable” is located immediately above “Add To Cart.”
Question: How can I stop the burning, immediately? How can I neutralize miconazole nitrate. Ouch, ouch, ouch
Answer: First the applicator has been known to rip your inflamed, tender insides. They are not very forgiving in such a tender area. The 1 or 3 day versions have the strongest concentration of med. Yes burning in the beginning is common... it's an infection and the tissues are inflamed. You do not have to have itching on the outside for the infection to be rip roaring on the inside. Douching will only make the infection worse and Vinegar on inflamed tissue is not helpful either. Douching clearing out more good bacteria... is bad news you don't want to be even more unbalanced. In the 7 day treatment burning at the start subsides in max an hour for me and only on the 1st or 2nd day. I unfortunately have a lot of experience with this issue due to chronic antibiotic use. This medication is the only one that works for me. If on the 7 day treatment it's "unbearable" for more than an hour you really need to get into your doctor and get checked out. I hope my input is helpful to others

User questions & answers

Question: Will this cure BV
Answer: I don't know the answer to that one. You might want to ask the manufacturer.
Question: How flexible is the applicator
Answer: For me they work as well as boric acid capsules but they are messier.
Question: Is it made in the USA
Answer: The last time I ordered this and the ingredients were the same as ever (candida albicans, candida parapsilosis, and pulsatilla, all three have 27X HPUS after the names), and it worked well (always does). . But there was no picture on the box or with the instructions., to compare it with. If the ingredients were the same, though, it should be fine.
Question: What’s the difference between miconazole & tioconazole
Answer: Sorry for the late response, I just got this, but I figured I should answer for future customers. I would not suggest using it while pregnant. It is unproven whether or not it will be absorbed into the system and by the baby even though it's been recommended in the past to use between breast feeding on yeast issues with the breasts. I would stick to plain greek yogurt as a substitute suppository and a strong dose of probiotics from the health food store. Get the one that's refrigerated they are the best.
