I've used the thermalon pad and the air activated throw away heat pads that have adhesive straps so I can put them on when I go to bed. I also have a hot tub which I use to use. Electric heat pads can be dangerous if one falls asleep laying on the pad. I mostly have to use these products during winter because that's when the pain is worse.

Answer:	there is no thermostat or timer. There is a hand-held on/off switch which you hold down until the thermophore gets hot enough for you. The pad can get very hot--within just a few minutes (and then retains heat) which is why you don't need a timer. I usually do a few cycles of on and off as my back releases its tension/pain. It is a great heating pad--I've used it for 15+ years, and have recommended it to others who have also been pleased with how effective it is.

Answer:	Yes!!! What do you want to do? Scald yourself? It gets plenty warm on 6, and perfect for animal heating with covers on 3-4. Forget the meat thermometer answer! It will get hot enough to burn you if you’re not alert and you choose to set it manually and not auto-shut-off. It happened to me, though it just hurt for a couple days without a wound. So, that’s enough! I use it to warm myself up in the evening and keep the heat at 65 degrees throughout winter to save money. Why heat the entire house? This doesn’t cost as much as electric or gas heat in the long run. And the company is AWESOME!!!! Totally customer service oriented... responsive. You can’t go wrong with this product!

Answer:	The one I bought in August 2019 has the option of auto shut-off or manual override... and will stay on indefinitely. I just hope it still has this function as it’s needed to keep my elderly cat warm throughout the night. I set it at either 3-4 depending on the blankets I use over it. 6 is too hot for her, even though cats and dogs have normal temps at approximately 4 degrees higher than humans... that’s why they feel so great in our laps! This is a MUST for heating pads for animal care use. Remember though, to always allow the animal a way to get away from the heat if needed - use on only half the cage (if caged) but allow burrowing ability on the non- heated side too. It’s a shame that other companies don’t offer this... as heating pads are used in many ways. A 2 hour shut off is great for preventing burns to elderly, non-aware or forgetful humans, but useless for any other need! When the pad failed, after Amazon return period, they provided a new set, shipped quickly and didn’t require a return. The pad is used at least 5 days a week for hours and has functioned perfectly ever since replacement- over a year ago. Great, responsive company... no hassle.

Question:	Does the plastic pad stay flat or does it ever bunch up
Answer:	I am a bit confused on the term, "plastic pad" as my Theratherm heating pad has no plastic pad. If you mean the unit itself, no. It has never bunched up on me while in use. It really has helped my back problems immensely One in particular is the automatic shut off so when I fall asleep I do not get cooked or overdone. I also love the ability to select the time and temperature of the pad. Very glad I bought it.
Question:	Did anyone get this and control did not Say Thera Therm but said DJO Global? I have purchased Thera Therm in the past and love - robbed
Answer:	Not robbed, just bad luck. I've used Theratherm products professionally for 40 years and they are the best. .....by far.......... That said, right before DJO bought the brand (it's still based in Chattanooga BTW, that's where I live) the quality went way down for about a year and I almost quit using them. I have had 1 failure in 4 years since DJO purchased them, AND they re designed the controller. The new controller is more durable than the old style and FAR less suceptable to stress fractures where the wire goes into the controller-which was the point of failure on the old style controllers. Sadly, all products will have a known and predictable failure rate and thankfully, the failure rate seems to be less since DJO bought the brand. They're still the best in my opinion and I'm happy with all 5 of mine. In fact, I just am writing this as I'm ordering a 6th 14x14.

Answer:	The item you had select states "cover only"..unit sold seperately.

Answer:	On page 10 of the manual, caution #5 says "Do not use while sleeping. Do not sit on or crush pad. Do not wet." It doesn't say anything else about it being under you while in operation. However, on page 10 there are 13 numbered cautions on burn or skin injury. It is a terrific heating pad. My husband and I each have our own pad.

Question:	What is the electrical rating of this pad? Just bought the theratherm and it makes house lights flicker
Answer:	Ha! Yours do too!?? Mine do that as well! I had our neighbor come out that's a master electrician and he squirted it's from 2 things, a bad GFI either in the wall/outlet, the house isn't grounded properly, and the 3rd thing (our culprit), is that from the way our house is wired. I crank mine up really hot so it'll draw a lot of power, that intern makes the lights flicker every second. However built the house were renting put in 5 & 10amp outlets (the minimum for code) and that might do it. I do know the house had bad wiring here. I got told by the 3 electricians that came out that that's a dangerous thing to have happen and could cause a fire but it hasn't yet and I use it all day every day. I'll agree though, this thing shouldn't draw as much power as a hairdryer though. This is the same company as thermophore. They're known to have units burn out, have wiring problems, and actually turn black and smoke. So l, I'd say the culprit is definitely the actual hearing pad (maybe also mixed with the minimum wiring amperage). It just draws WAY too much power and WAY more than what it states on the remote. This is the only one I know of that'll get this hot and that's why I love it but I've went through about 15 of them in about 5 years. They'll end up getting sued one day because someone will burn themselves or it'll start a fire and someone will die. It's definitely not safe but it really helps me.
Question:	Is it flexible enough to loosely wrap around
Answer:	This heating pad is fairly heavy, so it might not "loosely" wrap around. I actually sleep on mine, because you can adjust the temperatures to the exact temperature that you prefer. Another "plus" is that it is longer than most heating pads.

Answer:	Unfortunately no it does not light up. That is the only complaint I have. Other then that it has been the best heating pad I have ever owned!

Answer:	I use the high setting, but it may be too hot for many people. I'm not sure of the exact temperatures for each setting, but medium would work to relieve most pain and relax muscles. As far as using it for a foot warmer, the instructions say not to place it under your body, but placing it over your feet would work.
Question:	Will it stay on until turned off
Answer:	I've seen both answers here, with about 85% of "no auto-shutoff" prevailing. So let me tell you my ACTUAL experience. My Sunbeam King Size heating pad came with a tag on it that says 732-5 (no ending 00!). The instruction book says "FOR MODELS WITH AUTO OFF FEATURE: The Auto-Off feature is indicated by a LED light in the upper left corner of the controller." It does not says WHICH models have the BLASTED auto-off feature. My heart sunk when I saw an led light in the upper left corner of the controller. However, I can say this: IT DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY SHUT OFF! I use it every night on the lowest setting, and I love it. No blasted shut off every so often.Since other folks (maybe 15%) have said that it does shut off, let me express some possibilities:1. They have a different model than the 732-500, OR2. They have said model, but some of them (perhaps without the 732-5 sic tag on them) do have auto shut-off, OR3. The folks that say this are confusing "cycling" with "auto shut-off". Sometimes a pad has to TEMPORARILY cut off the juice to keep the temperature stable -- just like an electric range does. But that is NOT the same as Auto (Blasted) Shut-Off. If the pad is cycling, it will continue to heat again in a minute or two. Mine does not seem to even have to cycle. However, again, cycling is not auto-shut off. Units that auto shut-off usually have the light blink, or have some other indication that they timed out. The simplest test is to feel it! If it has auto shut-off, it'll go toward room temperature.Again, if it is merely cycling (for those few pads that need that feature), it will not stay off and heading toward room temperature.This is the word of a purchaser who has owned and used the 732-500 for over a week now, NOT someone who is guessing, nor visiting web sites, nor misreading a manual. My 732-500 does NOT automatically shut off. Thank God!
Question:	will this unit defrost frozen hot dogs
Answer:	Has anyone tried slicing their hotdogs really thin then laying them on the heating pad for 20 minutes and then if you like well done like I do, i lay them in my DVD player and hit play and time for 15 minutes. Takes awhile but great dogs! Although you ca. Also slice dogs in half and put in your toaster standing straight, on high/dark setting. You do have to continue pressing down when it pops up 13 or 14 times , but if you're near it anyhow.... just some thoughts...😋

Answer:	The reason is for SAFTY. Some people may get skin burns by laying on top of a steady heat source like a heating pad ("slow cooking"), which can get HOTTER over time if laid upon. Their usual (Buyer Beware) claim for "safety" is an "auto-shut off" which cuts in at about 2 hours. Some folks can get COOKED from 2 hours of time laying on an electric heating pad, and the pain is SEVERE! Electric heating pads should REALLY have MUCH shorter shut-off times, especially for immobile, elder, chronically ill, etc. people. MUCH SAFER TO LAY ON A HEAT THERAPY SOURCE THAT SLOWLY GETS COOLER, like hot water bottles, and the clay thermal pads. They are as hot as they're going to get right up front, with far more SAFETY than electric pads. Physical Therapy Professionals usually limit heat treatments to 20 minutes, for good reasons, proven by decades of Professional Medical Experience. BTW, yes, I do use electric pads, but ONLY UNDER THEM...NOT ON TOP! Also, be Very Careful of electric heating pads used on your bed, if your Beloved Pet, especially the heat-loving Feline variety, likes to sleep with you. Their claws can pierce the wire heating elements, with Dangerous Results. Might as well add: NOT for use on babies and children.
