4 best advanced scars

Advanced scars, often referred to as hypertrophic scars or keloids, are a type of scar tissue that forms as a result of the body's natural wound-healing process. These scars can be more prominent and raised compared to normal scars, and they are often characterized by their reddish or purplish coloration. Here are some key points about advanced scars:

  1. Causes: Advanced scars typically occur when the body produces an excess of collagen during the healing process. This excess collagen can lead to the scar becoming raised, thick, and sometimes painful. Some common causes of advanced scars include surgical incisions, burns, traumatic injuries, or even minor cuts or acne lesions in susceptible individuals.

  2. Appearance: Advanced scars appear as raised, thickened areas of skin that may be red, purple, or darker than the surrounding skin. They can be itchy, tender, and even cause discomfort or pain.

  3. Hypertrophic Scars: These are raised scars that do not extend beyond the boundaries of the original wound. They may improve over time but often remain elevated and noticeable.

  4. Keloids: Keloids are a more severe form of advanced scars. They extend beyond the original wound and can continue to grow over time. Keloids are more common in people with darker skin tones and may require specialized treatment.

  5. Treatment Options: There are several treatment options available for advanced scars:

    • Silicone Gel Sheets or Creams: These can help flatten and soften the scar tissue.

    • Corticosteroid Injections: Steroid injections into the scar can help reduce inflammation and flatten the scar.

    • Surgery: In some cases, surgical excision may be considered to remove the scar tissue. However, this can sometimes lead to the formation of new scars.

    • Laser Therapy: Laser treatments can help reduce redness and flatten the scar tissue.

    • Pressure Dressings: Applying pressure dressings or silicone sheets can help prevent keloid or hypertrophic scar formation, especially after surgery or injury.

    • Radiation Therapy: In certain cases, radiation therapy may be used after surgical removal to prevent the recurrence of keloids.

  6. Prevention: Preventing advanced scars is not always possible, but taking good care of wounds and following medical advice can reduce the risk. Keeping wounds clean, moist, and covered can help promote optimal healing.

It's important to note that the effectiveness of treatment can vary from person to person, and some advanced scars may not respond well to treatment. It's advisable to consult with a healthcare professional or dermatologist for an accurate diagnosis and personalized treatment plan if you have concerns about advanced scars.

User questions & answers

Question: how is it for older scars
Answer: It's pretty much the same, SO FAR... Directions say to use 3-4x a day for older scars for 6months or longer... My old scar is a little lighter but still the same... But im holding on to hope... Hopefully that answers your a question :) good luck!
Question: My box was sealed but the tube did not have a seal. Did anyone have a seal on the tube of this product
Answer: No the tube doesn’t have a seal I have been using it over a year purchased min 6 tubes in tidal thanks
Question: Will it help with old facial dark spots
Answer: No, I don't think so. It didn't help for my fresh scar from surgery, either. I have been using it for thrre months now with no improvement.
Question: Will this help with 10 year old deep scars
Answer: Yes, I have scars from 40 years ago that it makes a difference. However, the older the scar, the longer it takes to get rid of it. I'm on about a year on the oldest ones and while they are better, they are not gone yet. (about half). Note: I don't use it everyday. I have found on new scars that once every other day, even every 3rd day is fine. I think the "once daily" thing is just to sell more product. On new scars where I can monitor them very well, I've never found them to heal any faster every day vs every other day or even every third day.

Before

I had taken a nasty fall trying to rush back to my apartment one night in the winter of 2011. I had sprained my ankle and scraped my knee very bad that I left a trail of blood from the curb at which I had fallen, up the stairs and into my apartment. I was really worried about the deep scrape on my knee.

After

My friend suggested I use Mederma having recently used it on a scar of her own she's had for years. After my wound healed, I gave it a shot and I am so glad I did. In fact, my boyfriend had a similar wound on his knee from a track event around the same time I had my wound. Four months later his scar is still very visible, while my scar is virtually impossible to see!

User questions & answers

Question: Hi, can you tell me the expiration date the cream? please thanks you
Answer: I have never checked. I use it periodically, maybe 1-3 evenings then not until I feel I need to apply again. I am sure if I used it daily for a week, I would not have any spots/freckles anymore. One of the most important things is to use sun screen daily or you will get them back slowly. Also, a tidbit, I add baby diaper rash ointment containing 40% zinc oxide to my sun screen as the zinc oxide really blocks the damaging sun effects.
Question: Can it work for 6 years old kid? The scar is on my son’s face
Answer: Yes, It fade the dark spot which is from the acne scars.
Question: Is it work for hypopigmented scars
Answer: I have been using for years. I am brown skin. It neither whitens or lightens. It evens your skin tone and makes it look brighter. The hydroquinone helps to fade dark spots from acne and, homormal changes.
Question: What if I have a scar that is 20 years old? Appendix removal
Answer: Hi,Since lactic acid is listed at an inactive ingredient, the exact concentration is unknown. Inactive ingredients are any ingredients that the FDA does not consider “active.” While such ingredients still must have an established record of safety, they are not regulated in the same manner as active ingredients, nor does the FDA require such ingredients to be proven safe prior to use. Instead, the major requirement is that "inactive" ingredients be listed in descending order of concentration; therefore, the ingredient with the largest concentration is listed first, then the next largest, and so forth, if present at a concentration of at least 1% in the product. Ingredients present at concentrations less than 1%, however, can be listed in any order thereafter.

User questions & answers

Question: One review from jan 25 2021 says the ingredients of this products has changed w/side by pic (blurry). What has changed
Answer: Bio oil works very good , I use it on my face after I had blemishes from acne & they are fading away and my face looks very smooth . I apply it at night after I wash my face & in my morning after I wash my face then apply my moisturizer & apply make etc but definitely apply it at night to make sure you get great results .
Question: Is this the real stuff? I have used real biocorneum and it is amazing, I'm concerned that this is a fake or expired as some reviews say
Answer: Bio-Oil will help prevent the development of dry skin.
Question: I purchased this product a few weeks ago and it was expired. How can I be sure that if I order again, it will be fresh and not expired
Answer: Hi there! If you're asking if Bio-Oil can help with a scar on the face (nose, specifically) then I can answer. Bio-Oil is noncomedogenic and safe for use on the face.
Question: Which is the expired date
Answer: Yes! because skin scar problems can be a part of emotional scars, e.g. body image in American & Western culture esp. for women, gender dysphoria, etc. Great Q.
