12 best sharps container for syringes
A sharps container for syringes is a crucial component of diabetes care and general healthcare, especially for individuals who require regular injections or medical procedures involving syringes. These containers are designed to safely and securely dispose of used needles, syringes, and other sharp medical instruments, preventing accidental injuries and the spread of infections. Here's what you need to know about sharps containers for syringes:
Purpose: The primary purpose of a sharps container is to provide a safe and hygienic means for the disposal of used needles, syringes, lancets, and other sharp medical objects. It helps protect both healthcare professionals and patients from accidental needlestick injuries and reduces the risk of infection transmission.
Design: Sharps containers come in various designs, including small, portable containers for personal use and larger, more durable containers for healthcare facilities. They are typically made of puncture-resistant plastic to prevent the escape of sharp objects.
Sealing Mechanism: Most sharps containers have a secure sealing mechanism, such as a screw-on lid or a built-in safety lock, to ensure that once a sharp object is placed inside, it cannot be accessed or pose a risk.
Visibility: Many sharps containers are transparent or have fill-level indicators, allowing users to monitor the level of waste and determine when it's time to safely dispose of the container.
Portability: Personal sharps containers are often designed to be small and lightweight, making them easy to carry in a bag or pocket for individuals who require insulin injections or other treatments outside of a medical facility.
Disposal Guidelines: It's important to follow local regulations and healthcare guidelines for disposing of sharps containers. Typically, healthcare providers offer guidance on how to properly dispose of filled containers, which may involve returning them to a designated collection site.
Accessibility: Sharps containers can be obtained through pharmacies, medical supply stores, or healthcare providers. Some healthcare facilities may also provide sharps containers to patients with specific medical needs.
Legal Requirements: In many places, there are strict regulations governing the disposal of medical waste, including used needles and syringes.Sharps containers help individuals and healthcare facilities comply with these regulations.
Environmental Considerations: Proper disposal of sharps containers is essential for environmental safety. When full, these containers are typically sent to medical waste disposal facilities, where the contents are treated and disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner.
In summary, sharps containers for syringes are a fundamental aspect of diabetes care and healthcare in general. They provide a safe and convenient way to discard used needles and syringes, reducing the risk of needlestick injuries and helping to maintain a clean and infection-free healthcare environment. Individuals managing diabetes or other medical conditions that require regular injections should be aware of the proper use and disposal of sharps containers to ensure their safety and that of others.

User questions & answers
Question: | what are the dimesions of the oakridge 2 gal unit |
Answer: | 6 3/4" tall by 6 1/2" long and 4 1/2" wide. The width and length are measured across the widest area which is the top. As you can see from the pic there is a taper from top to bottom. |
Question: | We are servicing a farm and need a needlebox for about 250 syringes. What is your size recommendation |
Answer: | Need to talk to Amazon or the manufacturer of this product to stop delivery |
Question: | How do you dispose of it when it is full |
Answer: | Local sheriff department they have a process to dispose at no cost to you. |
Question: | Can you close the lid partially and leave it in place or does the lid automatically spring back to full open once you let go |
Answer: | Think of the opening as a smile. On mine the smilel opening is about 3" "ear-to-ear" and about 1 1/2" at the widest point top to bottom, so likely depends on the overall dimension of your blades. Also, the smaller 1 qt units come with the lids packed with the lids separate (not yet attached), which means you could add the blades and then attach the lid when full. Some vendors send the 2.2 quart size with lids separate, but on these the lids come already snapped in place. |

Question: | Will this work for big humira pens |
Answer: | Height - 9 5/8 " Top - 6 3/4" x 10" Bottom - 5" x 8 1/4" Fill Line is 2" below the top |
Question: | is this a good size for type2 pens |
Answer: | This depends on the size of the syringe. It is adequate for all syringes but the larger ones will fill the container quickly. If I was on a farm I would buy the LARGEST container I could find. I do believe there are larger ones. I am filling this with 1 cc syringes and acupuncture needles; both smallish items. |
Question: | How to unlock the lid |
Answer: | Call your local fire station or hospital and ask them for your county's policy on the "disposal of biohazard waste". Each county has their own specific rules. |

Question: | How many lancets and needles does it holds |

I have not had experience with Humira pens, however, I cannot imagine that they can be any larger than what I have. I especially like the price and availability of these disposable containers. I have plenty of space in the first container and still have the second one to go-I will reorder these when needed. Recommended. |
Question: | Are they wall mountable |
Answer: | Yes it is the perfect size |
Question: | Why are only 2 lids provided with the 3 containers |
Answer: | The lid is designed to remain in place. This is a biohazard container and should never be opened. The container and its contents are designed to be discarded as a whole safely through a designated agent. Check with your county government for disposal source. |
