Answer:	I wet sand with 1000 grit and then 3000 grit by hand and then follow by polishing with a 3” pad by drill with polishing compound. Then I use the product for final finish and protection.

Answer:	Hello George. The lens does not have to be sanded, however for best adhesion of the coating to the lens, it should be sanded with the P3000 grit sanding disc that comes with the kit.

Answer:	It all depends on how much sunlight hits your headlights, I did mine several months ago, the side where the afternoon sun hits the light looks dull already where the other side still looks good.

Question:	Can you get decent results when sanding by hand or is an orbital sander pretty much required
Answer:	I would recommend against an orbital sander. The sand paper "clogs up" after only 30-45 seconds of sanding. It clears easily by hand, but it would likely clog up in 10-15 seconds on an orbital sander. It's really pretty easy. It just takes patience. At 30-40 minutes per lens, I produced exceptional results the 1st time I tried it. The only things I used that weren't in the kit were painter's tape and a spray bottle for water.
Question:	Will these sanding discs attach to a "hook and loop" orbital sander
Answer:	They have a micro hook and loop (velcro) back, but you should check the speed of your sander, higher speed will reduce your polishing time. The kit recommends 1500rpm drill. I used this kit with a pneumatic 6k rpm die grinder (at reduced air pressure of 50psi) and it worked fantastic.You just have to be careful as you would with wood, and keep moving. Stop frequently to make sure the sanding pad doesn't get to hot. Similar to wood, you can overheat the headlight plastic and burn it if you aren't careful, causing discoloring or surface melting.
Question:	What's the difference between the 3m 39084 headlight restoration kit and the 3m 39008 headlight lens restoration system? is 1 better than the other
Answer:	39084 is a hand polishing kit. It comes with Two P3000 Refining disks included. 39008 is for use with your power drill and only includes one P3000 refining disk. Both kits include six p500 and four P800 sanding disks and one foam buffing pad for use with the included rubbing compound. I found that only having one P3000 sanding disk for Two headlights was not enough. You need one for each headlight if your doing a full restore. My first headlight came out great but the p3000 disk was pretty much totally clogged up and useless on the second headlight. My second headlight does not look as good as the first for this reason.

The 3 lowest grit discs are scrubbing pads of different coarseness, not sandpaper. The other discs are sandpaper with multiple copies of the grits. Some of the grits are so fine (10,000) you don't need them.

Answer:	No don’t use compound of the pad. First use the rough pad 400, spray water, wipe with rugs , next 600, spray wipe rugs next 1000 spray water wipe with rugs until very clear spray the coating two times.

Question:	there really 5 sheets like it says on the photo or less
Answer:	The length of time that your silver stays tarnish free depends on where you live. The gases in the air are what causes tarnish. I grew up in a small Texas town where there is a lot of oil activity, drilling for oil and many completed wells, so the finished wells had gas flares, where they burned off the gas that came out with the oil. I use my silver for Thanksgivimg and Christmas and had to polish it every year. I bought some black paper strips that go in with your silver when you store it and they did a fantastic job of preventing my silver from tarnishing. Any silver polish is good for removing the tarnish but to keep it tarnish free get some of the strips for silver that is stored. There are some here on Amazon made by 3M. I have not used this Weimans product but have used their other products and like them very much. I plan to buy some of this.
Question:	is 2500 grit enough for final polish of headlights
Answer:	Stones are much harder than silver. Should not hurt them at all. But might be hard getting it from under the stone, get an ultra sonic cleaner for that. Turquoise is different, it could be porous and absorb the polish.
Question:	What grits are included in this pack
Answer:	Hi Randy, the polish is the texture of milk (more watery), whereas the cream is like a heavy dairy cream. Both work the same, except I think there's less waste using the cream and it's easy to get off the silver when you're done polishing.
Question:	When should it be used dry and when wet? with oil or water
Answer:	You should use a sponge to rub the solution unto the silverware. Let the solution dry on the product a little, and then use old cotton dish clothes, or socks (a fabric that absorbs the solution, and that you don't care to become black) to wipe off the solution and polish the silverware.

Question:	How many lenses will the kit restore, and has anyone called for another kit using the Lifetime Warranty
Answer:	I purchased 2 kits and had enough materials to easily do all 3 vehicles; probably could have done a 4th.It has been about 18 months since I did the first, and it still looks great.The final step, the Clear Coat, will harden in the opened bottle over time.I suggest using up the entire kit within 2-4 months.
Question:	Should you apply this product indoors or in the shade
Answer:	It says to either apply in the shade or in an enclosed area. I applied it outside on an over cast day. An hour after I applied it the Sun came out. Two hours after that it rained. The application survived and I haven't had any problems even though my conditions were not advisable.
Question:	How long do the results last
Answer:	While this kit did an excellent job of restoring my headlights, it took me about an hour to do each side as I tend to be very meticulous when maintaining my vehicle. I took extra care to ensure the product was applied as designed and that application process achieved excellent results. However, my lenses started losing the clear coat finish after about 12 months. My vehicle is garaged kept 7x24 (with climate control) and only driven about 6,000 miles per year.

Step 1 - Apply Surface Activator

Wash the headlight lenses and then spray Surface Activator--a proprietary surface corrosion softener only from Sylvania, generously onto each headlight lens until they are completely covered. Let this liquid sit on each lens for about 30 seconds. Immediately, you’ll see the yellow gunk start to break down. Wash completely with water to remove loosened corrosion.

Step 2 - Sand And Polish

Use the wet sanding technique described in your instruction sheet, using the 400, 1000 and 2000 grits and paper included in the box. This will remove corrosion. Apply the clarifying compound using even circular motions. Rinse and dry. Reapply the Surface Activator for 30 seconds and rinse with water. You’ll be amazed at how clear the lenses will already be.

Step 3 - UVB Clear Coat Application

Insure all moisture is removed from on and around the headlight lens. You’ll then apply the UV Block Clear Coat. It’s simple. Just apply as instructed in smooth, even applications. This UV Block Clear coat is a specially formulated polymer coating with active and passive UV blockers. This is the component that gives you long-lasting results.

Before and After Results

The left side of the headlight lens is hazy and sun damaged, inhibiting your headlight from functioning properly. The right side of the headlight lens has been treated with the SYLVANIA Headlight Restoration Kit. The headlight lens is restored close to its original condition allowing your headlight system to function at top performance.

Question:	Will this remove tree sap off of the hood of my car without affecting the clear coat paint
Answer:	3M gen purpose adhesive cleaner might be a little overkill for tree sap I would use a good tar remover instead That being said I have used it to remove white road marker paint on my blue car. I works but you have to take your time and it all came off and I saw no damage to my paint. I was a lot of work but saved me a ton of money. I always have a can of this in my garage.
Question:	Is this comparable to the brand "un-do" .. those who may be familiar
Answer:	I'm not familiar with "un do" but I've tired many brands over the years , even the new brands - nothing has come close to the 3M cleaner - has been effective in every situation I've need of a cleaner and a can seems to last forever.
Question:	Will this removal sealant that's on car paint
Answer:	A car detail shop used this on my Chevy Camaro, Only thing to get off white line paint from my blue car. Never saw any type of damage or color change and keep it for many years.
Question:	Will this product remove weather stripping adhesive from wood and plastic? WD40, alcohol, soap and water, etc. have not yet worked. Help
Answer:	Yes it will. Use a cloth rag and keep it "wet". Be careful on the plastic, and, if the wood has a finish on it, test a spot that is out of sight. It may also discolor the wood slightly if there is some pigment in the adhesive.

Question:	What is the difference between the 3M Vinyl Cleaner and Restorer and the 3M Viny Cleaner, Conditioner and Protector
Answer:	Ms. Handy: I've been using this product more than 10 years now, and I believe all you are looking at is a difference in labeling/description. The "cleaner and restorer" used to be the name for the original product and it was in a slightly different shaped spray bottle. I purchased the "cleaner, conditioner, and protector" here on Amazon and also through Sportsmans Guide through BoatSavings.com, and it is the same. While it is a great product, it cannot actually "restore" color fading due to sun bleaching of vinyl, so 3M's attorney's were probably encouraging the marketing guys to modify the name so as not to unintentionally mislead. Best product of it's type I have ever used, especially consisdering price and convenience of a one-shot application with a damp terry cloth wash rag.

Answer:	YES. Yesterday I dropped a cup of coffee off my desk onto a white carpet. I used this and it worked

Answer:	I used it for a cat who suffered IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) The accidents he'd leave on our carpet (not his fault) were a mess. This Scotchgard cleaner worked miracles. I became the best cat mess cleaner-upper in the world with it. As for mattresses? I don't know. Before I'd use it as a spray, I'd try it on a small spot; perhaps with a cue tip to test for discoloration . It didn't change the color of our carpet, but a mattress is a different type of fabric. It sure cleans spots on a carpet, though. Excellent product.
Question:	has anyone tried this on GREASY food stains on clothes
Answer:	The product removes greasy food stains well. Take a look at Wikipedia's article on Scotchguard, however; this is NOT a product that - even after its 2009 re-formulation - one would want next to ones body. There are an abundance of safer products that are both safe and effective at removing these stains. And most cost considerably less than this carpet cleaner.

Answer:	You need a drill. There are some specs of how good it must be (don't remember what it is) but I used a 12v Ryobi and I was good.
