Question: | What Does It Taste Like |
Answer: | Not sure how to respond. At one level, it tastes "like mushrooms." It is a fairly strong smokey flavor that I like in mushroom barley soup or barley casseroles. It surely is not something you would use unadorned - its more a companion or accent flavor to other dishes. Maybe a bit lit Chinese black mushrooms, but more intense. |

User questions & answers
Question: | What are the arsenic levels in this product |
Answer: | Yes. Try it with many dishes. |
Question: | does it contain any calcium carbonate |
Answer: | Hello. It only has one ingredient and that 100% porcini mushroom powder, nothing else! Hope this helps! |
Question: | Can i use this to boost the flavor of my dull chicken and vegetable soups |
Answer: | Absolutely!!!! It totally enhances the flavor of both (dull chicken and vegetable soups). In the directions it tells you how to mix the "Porcini powder" with water. It definitely will make your cooking experience wonderful. Enjoy. |
Question: | How many cups of powder are in the package? I want volume not weight |
Answer: | The mileage is going to vary on that. As with all powders and things of that nature, products are sold by weight not volume because settling occurs. Mine is still sealed in the packaging, but looking at it I would imagine that it would fit into a one cup container with room to spare. I think it would exceed a half cup container. Then again, if you use the flower sifter, you could probably stretch it even farther. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Do you harvest in forests and away from polluted areas |
Answer: | Porcini is all about altitude and the type of trees. Our picking areas are far far away from cities and there are no industries around. And of course, no cell signals. Hope this helps. |
Question: | How many 3oz bags are needed for 2 cups of dried porcini’s |
Answer: | Depends on what you mean by 2 cups. If you pour it straight out of the bag, it will overflow 2 cups. But there will be a lot of empty space in the container. If you break the mushrooms into small pieces, you may not get 2 cups. Recipes usually call for 1 or more ounces, so it's better to use that standard. |
Question: | gmo? organically grown |
Answer: | Not grown. 100% wild. Foraged in the wild. Definitely not genetically modified. |
Question: | How do you store these mushrooms once opened to keep them fresh? Thank you so much |
Answer: | Once opened, keep in bag, tightly sealed, try to get rid of as much air as you can, keep in freezer. You can also store in pantry or tightly sealed jar away from heat, but the mushroom may darken in color. That’s just oxidization, completely natural. |

Wild Dried Porcini Mushroom - 3 oz
100% WILD Foraged Porcini. Our Porcini is foraged in the wild from the Canadian West Coast all the way down to Oregon's Pacific Northwest. This 2020 Spring has been a phenomenal year in the Spring King (Bolete). Our season continues with our European pickers who pick in the forests of Austria and surrounding regions from late May throughout to July. We finish our season back home in North American. Absoutely NO Chinese porcini here posing as from other origin.
We believe in authenticity and purity of our wild mushrooms. True wild foraged Porcini, when dried properly, smells sweet, buttery, and a bit nutty. It will NEVER smell pungent, strong, seafood or soysauce. While dried Porcini mushrooms do darken with time, the color of the dried Porcini will be no darker than the color of a creamy latte.
All of our wild dried Porcini go through random Edible Fungi Authenticity Metabarcoding test - a test of DNA authenticity. The test shows the DNA specifications and we stand behind every single bag of our dried Porcini. North American (60%) and European (40%) origin only, absolutely no Chinese origin mixed in. The analytical test code BJNGE - Edible Fungi Authenticity by Metabarcoding is done by Eurofins Experchem, Food Laboratories, Accreditation: DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2005 DAKKS D-OL-13372-01-00.

Also known as cepes, pennybuns or their scientific name, Boletus edulis, porcini mushrooms are a type of edible mushroom found across the Northern Hemisphere, including in parts of North America, Europe and Asia. The mushrooms come from a type of fungus that forms a symbiotic relationship with trees. Fungal tissue is wrapped around the roots of the tree underground, and spore-bearing fruit is produced above ground in the summer and fall. They are characterized by a thick, white stalk between three to five inches tall and a dark brown cap. They also have an earthy, woodsy flavor that works well in a wide array of dishes, from soups to pastas — much like other mushrooms, such as lion’s mane mushrooms.
