Question:	Just purchased and one that i bit into was very black on the inside. Almost like tar. Smelled fine but curious if this is normal
Answer:	The black stuff you found is mold, Aspergillus niger, to be exact, that can penetrate into figs and turns their insides crumbly and black. Unless you're immune compromised, it's not harmful so don't freak out if you accidentally ate some. But it tastes like crap. I would NEVER eat it deliberately.

Answer:	The ingredients list only organic figs, which does not contain gluten. Also it says the facility handles nuts.

Answer:	Are you sure it is bad? These dried figs have natural black spots and some very soft spots. This is a natural outcome of the drying process. However, if you are sure they are bad, contact Amazon.

Answer:	No, that is not mold. The drying process of the figs leaves some dark spots and some too soft spots. Refrigerate after opening and wash the figs before eating. Store them in a dry cold place (a fridge would be fine).. Nothing to worry about. I came from Iraq and ate dried figs all my life. This Turkish brand is among the best.
