13 best shirataki noodles
Shirataki noodles are a type of translucent, gelatinous traditional Japanese noodle made from the konjac yam (also known as devil's tongue or elephant yam). They are sometimes referred to as konjac noodles.
Here are some key points about shirataki noodles:
Low in Calories and Carbohydrates: Shirataki noodles are extremely low in calories and carbohydrates, making them a popular choice for people on low-carb or calorie-restricted diets. They are primarily composed of water and glucomannan, a type of soluble fiber.
Gluten-Free and Vegan: Since they are made from a plant-based source (konjac yam), shirataki noodles are naturally gluten-free and suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
Glucomannan Content: Glucomannan is a type of soluble fiber that is known for its ability to absorb water and form a gel-like substance in the digestive tract. This can promote feelings of fullness and may help with weight management.
Texture and Taste: Shirataki noodles have a unique texture that some people find unusual. They are quite chewy and have a slightly rubbery texture. They don't have a strong flavor on their own, which makes them versatile for various dishes.
Preparation: It's recommended to rinse shirataki noodles thoroughly under cold water and then either boil or dry-fry them before using them in recipes. This helps to remove any residual odor and improve their texture.
Uses in Cooking: They can be used as a substitute for regular noodles in a variety of dishes like stir-fries, soups, and salads. They take on the flavors of the ingredients they are cooked with.
Health Benefits: Due to their high fiber content, shirataki noodles may offer some health benefits such as improved digestive health and stabilized blood sugar levels.
Availability: Shirataki noodles are typically available in the refrigerated section of grocery stores, or in some cases, in shelf-stable form. They are also available for purchase online.
Varieties: In addition to the traditional shirataki noodles, there are variations available that may include tofu or other ingredients for added texture or flavor.
Considerations: Some people may find the initial smell of shirataki noodles off-putting. This is usually resolved by rinsing and cooking them properly. Additionally, they are very low in nutrients apart from fiber, so they are best enjoyed as part of a balanced meal.
Remember, while shirataki noodles can be a useful addition to a balanced diet, it's important to consult with a healthcare professional or nutritionist for personalized dietary advice.

Enjoy the miracle no carb pasta alternative... Konjac aka Shirataki Noodles !
Konjac pasta is made with konjac flour containing the water soluble dietary fibre glucomannan. Studies have shown konjac glucomannan in your diet is beneficial to our health in many ways:
Weight management – Glucomannan fills the stomach and slows the digestion process, which helps the consumer feel “full” for longer, reducing the urge for heavy meals or snacks.
Help control blood sugar levels – By extending the time required to digest a meal, sugars and carbohydrates from other food intake are processed slower, which reduces spikes in blood sugar levels.
Reduce cholesterol – Glucomannan gel in the digestive system inhibits the absorption of lipids, such as LDL (bad cholesterol).
Storage conditions:
Keep in cool and dry place, avoid direct sunlight, refrigerated once opened and use within 3 days; do not freeze
How To Prepare Konjac Pasta:
1. Open the package and drain liquid away;
2. Rinse the pasta under running tap water for two or three minutes;
3. Add the pasta to a pan, and fry for 2-3 minutes, add spices, sauces, or soup;
4. If you do not wish to fry you can heat the pasta in the microwave for 1-2 minutes;
5. Enjoy!
Please note the pasta is very absorbent so will absorb the sauces and take on the flavours you cook them with.

User questions & answers
Question: | Can this be boiled |
Answer: | There's no need to boil these noodles, you just need to heat them up to eat them warm (or you can enjoy them cold). If you want to enjoy them hot, you can heat them up in a microwave or in a dry pan, and toss them in any hot soup or broth. Same effect. |
Question: | What country is this from |
Answer: | HONG KONG |
Question: | Is it kosher |
Answer: | This brand does not state that it is kosher. General Nature Wonder Noodles, which have fettuccine, ziti, and spaghetti and I prefer to the Konjac, is Kosher Parve. |
Question: | What are the ingredients |
Answer: | Konjac flour, water, citric acid are the only ingredients. No odor. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How many servings per package |
Answer: | It's about two but I have found that the serving sizes were too small to fill me up so I use the entire package, since it has virtually no calories, that way I get full with less sauce. I have a friend that has made Pad Thai with them and it was wonderful |
Question: | Are these noodles "Paleo Diet friendly?" I'm strict on my Paleo diet but would love some noodles now and again. Thank you |
Answer: | Yes. I'm on a ketogenic diet and eat them. They're zero carb, don't raise your blood sugar and are from a healthy plant. My dad is diabetic and when he checked his blood sugar after having these noodles his readings were fantastic, better than before he usually eats. I do a lot of paleo stuff for my ketogenic diet and if I were paleo I'd totally eat these noodles. I love them in noodle soups. |
Question: | how do you store them |
Answer: | I store them in the cupboard. I find when I use them, the best method is to rinse them, then put them in a dry fry pan and saute them until the liquid is about gone. By drying them out they are ready for whatever sauce you wish to put on them. They also are not slimey that way. |
Question: | What is the shelf life of any of these noodles |
Answer: | Shelf life is 1 year. A bit longer if they are refrigerated. Great for storing in the bunker in case of a zombie apocalypse along with Spam and Twinkies. lol |

User questions & answers
Question: | I miss ramen since my celiac diagnosis, will these make me miss ramen less |
Answer: | Skinny Noodles are the perfect low calorie, 0 net carb alternative to ramen noodles. We think you'll find Skinny Noodles are an excellent substitute that allow you to slurp guilt-free! |
Question: | how many calories |
Answer: | Melanie, Skinny Noodles Spaghetti contains 10 calories, 3 grams of carbs, and 3 grams of fiber per serving (4 ounces or 1/2 package). If you click through all of the images for the product, you can review the nutrition facts panel there. Thanks! |
Question: | Are these paleo |
Answer: | Yes, these noodles are Paleo friendly. The "fishy smell" as Chris H. mentioned is naturally occurring and will dissipate after rinsing and cooking. Try the vinegar tip. Empty the entire package of the noodles/liquid into a small bowl, add 1 -2 tsp of regular vinegar and let sit for a minute or two. The acid in the vinegar will neutralize the alkaline and eliminate the smell. Then rinse, drain well and add to your favorite recipe. They are particularly good in soups. Since konnyaku (the main ingredient to all shirataki products) is a good source of fiber, they will not turn mushy even when cooked in a slow cooker overnight. Like any other food, shirataki is not for everyone, but if you are looking to add fiber to your diet while reducing calories and carbs, or dietary restrictions prevent you from eating regular pasta, it is a great alternative. And by the way, our website has a complete disclosure of our ingredients. Skinny Noodles are made in the USA with quality ingredients. Thank you, The Skinny Noodles Team. |
Question: | What is a good sauce to use with these |
Answer: | Sally, you can use any sauce you would use with regular pasta including marinara, meat sauce, or cheese sauces. Skinny Noodles Spaghetti are also excellent in Asian dishes like stir fry and pad thai in place of rice noodles. In addition, Skinny Noodles Spaghetti are delicious in soups like chicken noodle, ramen, pho, or minestrone. Just drain, rinse well (adding 1-2 teaspoons of vinegar to the rinse water if desired), then pan fry 2-3 minutes until the noodles "squeak." If you're using Skinny Noodles in soups, just drain and rinse well before adding to soup. Thanks to their high fiber content, Skinny Noodles never get mushy or overcooked like regular pasta. |

Low Carb & Low Calorie
The main ingredient in Skinny Shirataki Noodles and Shirataki Rice is a fibrous root vegetable native to Asia called konjac or konnyaku. The konjac root looks similar to yam or jicama. Thanks to konjac, Skinny Shirataki Noodles and Rice are low carb, low calorie, keto, and a good source of fiber. Using Skinny Shirataki Noodles in place of regular pasta or white rice cuts about 200 calories and 40 grams of carbs per serving.
Gluten Free
Unlike regular pasta, Skinny Shirataki Noodles and Shirataki Rice are made from a root vegetable native to Asia called konjac or konnyaku. This fibrous root is gluten free, low carb, and low calorie. The products are also non-GMO since no genetically modified versions of konjac (konnyaku) exist at this time.
Diabetic Friendly
Research suggests the glucomannan found in konjac, shirataki noodles, and shirataki rice may also help those with Type II Diabetes. Consuming the soluble fiber in konjac slows the digestive process; this leads to a slower release of glucose, reducing sugar spikes and helping to normalize blood glucose after a meal.

User questions & answers
Question: | Does it have to be refrigerated? How is it stored |
Answer: | Not unless individual package is opened. Packs are single serving for regular pantry storage. |
Question: | Where are they manufactured and do any ingredients come from China |
Answer: | Hi William. Noodles are made in Thailand and the konjac flour is sourced from Japan. I could source from China at a much cheaper cost but decided not to because the quality wasn’t as good. And we’ll never sell anything that I wouldn’t feed to my own family. |
Question: | Why does your brand have 4g net carbs per serving, while most other brands of konjac "pasta/ric" have no more that 1g net carbs for a similar amount |
Answer: | Hi - We added a small amount of tapioca starch to our formulation to improve the texture of the rice. It's a bit of a tradeoff with the addt'l carbs but we felt it was necessary - our philosophy is always to make the best tasting product, and then work hard on reducing net carbs. That way, people stick to their diet (and hopefully keep buying our products!). Please try our rice and compare it to the other brands, and see if you agree with our decision. BTW I highly recommend using it in a garlic stir fried rice recipe (use it like cooked rice) - it's awesome. |
Question: | What makes them expensive compared to regular ones |
Answer: | Hi - The short answer is due to the cost of ingredients and production. Most regular pasta & noodles are made with low grade wheat or rice flour, both of which are cheap, high carb ingredients. The cost to mass produce regular pasta & noodles is also very low because the food industry has been very effective at promoting a high carb diet and products with high profit margins. We use high grade Japanese konjac flour and produce our noodles in small batches in Thailand, and the result (we think) is a very high quality low carb substitute for regular pasta. Our noodles are also ready-to-eat (unlike regular pasta), making them super convenient to make a low carb meal in just a few minutes. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Has anyone tried cooking them with chicken in chicken broth as in chicken and noodles |
Answer: | Anybody who says tastes fishy is imagining things. They are made from shirataki mushrooms and are flavorless. You do need to rinse them for a few minutes to clear the smell of the juice they come in..that has a sort of a fishy scent but is alleviated by rinsing. These take on the flavor of what you cook. Great beef stroganoff, pasta primavera with shrimp or veggies and fetuccini sauce, tomato sauce. They really fill you up and are great fiber for you! LOVE them, just a different texture to get used to, but baked in casserole cannot tell difference from pasta. No gas and bloat like from pasta, and only like 30 cals insteads of 300! |
Question: | I love these noodles but when i open one bag of the fettuccine noodles they were complete mush. is this normal? i hated to waste a bagbut i couldn’t |
Answer: | Not sure what you meant by mush,, but they are wet and slimy. You rinse them a lot and put some sauce on them, and they are good. The smell is also bad when you open the bag, but once again, rinse them a lot! |
Question: | Since you have to rinse, cook, then dry can you do this the night before and store them in the refrigerator till the next day or two |
Answer: | I suppose you might cover them w a damp towel . I have simply rinsed, then poured boiling water or broth ( then add butter, or olive oil) over them and served on the side with soup , spagetti sauce or stew . They tend to disappear if I put them directly into my soup. I havent tried them with white sauce. |
Question: | I just received a box of 6 packs of angel hair pasta, should the packages be refriderated before cooking them |
Answer: | No that’s why this product is so great for travel. Just remember to rinse well and try to dry. Cook first in a heated pan no oils to steam out moisture. Enjoy great cold also for pasta salad. |

User questions & answers
Question: | is there soy in this product |
Answer: | I am allergic to soy and am glad to report there is NO soy in this product. However, the noodles you buy in the grocery stores are made from soy. Just be sure to let the noodles sit in whatever sauce you make for at least 10 minutes before you eat them. They alone have absolutely no taste. Hope this answers your question. Will be happy to answer any more if you have any. |
Question: | Are these noodles similar in texture to udon noodles |
Answer: | No they are not like udon noodles. They have a much rubbery/chewy texture. |
Question: | Where exactly is the kelp grown for this product? How does it rate on the testing for the pollutants off of the nuclear fall outs from Japan |
Answer: | After making these a part of my regular diet, I have grown enough tentacles that I've requested the product be renamed to fukushima noodles. |
Question: | I'm confused. If "these noodles are composed primarily of soluble fiber" why does the label state 0 Fiber |
Answer: | Not really sure. I do know the FDA ruled that if a serving of food is less that 5 calories, companies can label it as 0 calories. Same with sugar and carbs (less than 1g), so maybe fiber they can do the same. Konjac noodles are 97% water and 3% fiber, so that would be my guess.Good question, I never thought about it. I might email miracle noodles and see if I can get an answer.I did just go to their website and saw nutritional information. Carbs is labeled as " |

Vietnamese Chicken Soup - a Miracle Noodle family favorite
1. In a 3 quart saucepan, bring chicken stock to a boil over medium-high heat. Add garlic, ginger and cardamom and let simmer for 10 minutes.
2. Drain the water out of the package, rinse the noodles in cool water for 10-15 seconds (the konjac plant aroma is normal and will go away fully in the next step). Put in boiling water for 2 minutes. Then dry the noodles by placing in a non-oiled pan on medium heat until dry. Divide noodles into two bowls.
3. Add chicken to stock and let cook for 5 minutes (until completely cooked).
4. Pour soup into bowls over the noodles. Divide bean sprouts between two soup bowls then top each serving with half the scallions and chili sauce.
5. Garnish bowls with a slice of lime and chopped cilantro.

Enjoy the miracle no carb pasta alternative... Konjac aka Shirataki Noodles ! Konjac pasta is made with konjac flour containing the water soluble dietary fibre glucomannan. Studies have shown konjac glucomannan in your diet is beneficial to our health in many ways: Weight management – Glucomannan fills the stomach and slows the digestion process, which helps the consumer feel “full” for longer, reducing the urge for heavy meals or snacks. Storage conditions: Keep in cool and dry place, avoid direct sunlight, refrigerated once opened and use within 3 days; do not freeze Please note the pasta is very absorbent so will absorb the sauces and take on the flavors you cook them with.
