14 best konjac noodles
Konjac noodles, often referred to as shirataki noodles, are a type of pasta noodle that has gained popularity in recent years, especially among those looking for low-carb, gluten-free, or keto-friendly alternatives to traditional wheat-based noodles. These noodles are related to pantry staples and are commonly found in the grocery gourmet food section.
Key Characteristics of Konjac Noodles (Shirataki Noodles):
Ingredients: Konjac noodles are made from the root of the konjac plant, also known as the elephant yam (Amorphophallus konjac). The root is processed to create a gelatinous substance called glucomannan, which is used to make the noodles.
Low in Calories and Carbs: One of the main attractions of konjac noodles is their extremely low calorie and carbohydrate content. They are virtually calorie-free and contain very few digestible carbs, making them a popular choice for those on low-calorie or low-carb diets.
Gluten-Free and Vegan: Konjac noodles are naturally gluten-free and suitable for vegans and vegetarians. They are a good option for individuals with dietary restrictions.
Gelatinous Texture: These noodles have a unique, somewhat gelatinous or rubbery texture compared to traditional wheat noodles. Some people may need time to adjust to this texture.
No Flavor on Their Own: Konjac noodles have a neutral taste, which means they don't have a strong flavor on their own. They can absorb the flavors of sauces and ingredients they are cooked with.
Rinse Before Use: Konjac noodles typically come packed in water or a liquid that has a slightly earthy odor. It's recommended to rinse them thoroughly under cold water before using them to remove this odor.
Common Uses:
- Konjac noodles are often used as a substitute for regular pasta in various dishes such as stir-fries, soups, and pasta salads.
- They can be incorporated into a variety of cuisines, including Asian dishes like pad Thai or Japanese ramen.
- Konjac noodles are known for their ability to provide a filling and satisfying meal without the high calorie and carb content of traditional noodles.
Health Considerations:
- Due to their low-calorie and low-carb nature, konjac noodles can be a useful tool for weight management and blood sugar control.
- Some studies suggest that glucomannan, the fiber found in konjac noodles, may have potential health benefits, such as promoting satiety and aiding in digestion.
In summary, konjac noodles, also known as shirataki noodles, are a unique and health-conscious alternative to traditional pasta noodles. They are prized for their low-calorie and low-carb characteristics, making them suitable for various dietary preferences and restrictions. When prepared properly and paired with flavorful sauces and ingredients, they can be a satisfying addition to a wide range of dishes.

User questions & answers
Question: | is this KETO |
Answer: | Shirataki noodles have almost no calories and virtually no carbs. They are 97% water, 3% fiber and have traces of protein, fat, and calcium. I love Skinny Pasta, it allows me to have spaghetti and not feel guilty. Follow directions on package, (rinsing noodles and fry them before adding sauce, very important). And yes, I believe these will work great on a Keto diet. |
Question: | Do these feel like pasta? The lasagna-does it cut with a knife like pasta |
Answer: | These are the closest thing to real pasta texture that I have found, to date (various noodles, rice, couscous, spaghetti.) I have not tried the lasagna, yet. Anxious to find out. As all Shirataki noodles, I expect the lasagna to be "slippery." That can't be avoided. At least the noodles and rice are not mushy, nor do they smell, at all! In a hurry? Rinse them in hot water in a strainer or mini-colander, put them on a plate on paper towels to soak up the water, and they are ready to eat. If you have time to saute them in butter or olive oil first, this will dry them out even more, firm them up a bit, and they taste even better!! They take on the flavor of whatever they are soaking in. Can't go wrong with the variety pack to try them out. |
Question: | is this vegan |
Answer: | Yes to Vegan, and tasteless. |
Question: | What is the nutrition facts for each package? Can you post a picture or add information |

Enjoy the miracle no carb pasta alternative... Konjac aka Shirataki Noodles !
Konjac pasta is made with konjac flour containing the water soluble dietary fibre glucomannan. Studies have shown konjac glucomannan in your diet is beneficial to our health in many ways:
Weight management – Glucomannan fills the stomach and slows the digestion process, which helps the consumer feel “full” for longer, reducing the urge for heavy meals or snacks.
Help control blood sugar levels – By extending the time required to digest a meal, sugars and carbohydrates from other food intake are processed slower, which reduces spikes in blood sugar levels.
Reduce cholesterol – Glucomannan gel in the digestive system inhibits the absorption of lipids, such as LDL (bad cholesterol).
Storage conditions:
Keep in cool and dry place, avoid direct sunlight, refrigerated once opened and use within 3 days; do not freeze
How To Prepare Konjac Pasta:

Low Carb & Low Calorie
The main ingredient in Skinny Shirataki Noodles and Shirataki Rice is a fibrous root vegetable native to Asia called konjac or konnyaku. The konjac root looks similar to yam or jicama. Thanks to konjac, Skinny Shirataki Noodles and Rice are low carb, low calorie, keto, and a good source of fiber. Using Skinny Shirataki Noodles in place of regular pasta or white rice cuts about 200 calories and 40 grams of carbs per serving.
Gluten Free
Unlike regular pasta, Skinny Shirataki Noodles and Shirataki Rice are made from a root vegetable native to Asia called konjac or konnyaku. This fibrous root is gluten free, low carb, and low calorie. The products are also non-GMO since no genetically modified versions of konjac (konnyaku) exist at this time.
Diabetic Friendly
Research suggests the glucomannan found in konjac, shirataki noodles, and shirataki rice may also help those with Type II Diabetes. Consuming the soluble fiber in konjac slows the digestive process; this leads to a slower release of glucose, reducing sugar spikes and helping to normalize blood glucose after a meal.

In 2006, Jonathan Carp, MD was visiting a friend in Japan when she took him to a Buddhist-run vegetarian restaurant on the outskirts of the beautiful city of Kyoto. He was introduced to konnyaku in different shapes and in noodles called shirataki. After discovering the health benefits of this amazing plant-based food and the positive health implications for his patients, he started Miracle Noodle with his family. As Miracle Noodle received positive accolades from the likes of Dr. Oz, Rachael Ray, Rocco Dispirito and being featured in magazines like Cosmo, Men Health, and First for Women and TV shows like The View, ABC News, Hollywood Tonight - the company expanded and so did the product offerings. We now offer a line of products consistent with the health goals of our customers, making healthy eating easy and delicious. All of our products are non-gmo, vegan, and grain free with an ever expanding option of organic options as well.

- ANCIENT RECIPE: Our noodles and rice are 97% water and 3% soluble plant fiber - (plus mineral lime water to help the noodles keep their shape). It's the same way the Buddhist monks who developed these noodles made them over 1,400 years ago!
User questions & answers
Question: | are any of the noodles made with corn |
Answer: | Great question! Apply a small amount of mild hand soap and warm water to a soft tooth brush and gently cleanse the top cover of the insoles. Allow them to air dry. PLEASE do not machine wash or dry them! Thanks for checking in with us. |
Question: | How do you store this product for future use |
Answer: | I don't know if they will last for years.....it might all depend if you wear them every day.....they appear to be pretty sturdy. |
Question: | Should each bag feel like it’s all liquid before I open it |
Answer: | They are pretty thin. There is a molded plastic plate in the arch and heel areas and the rest is a thin foam material. For me, there was above average support and pain relief, since most inserts I have purchased over the years have done little to nothing. Because they are thin, I put them on top of the insole that is already in the shoe instead of replacing them. They are more comfortable and work better than my specialty arch support inserts. |
Question: | can miracle noodles be frozen |
Answer: | To my knowledge heel spurs can occur due to lack of arch and medial support of the foot. The Samurai by supporting those areas well will stop your heel from hurting. Tip , keep your calves well stretched and strong as tightness in that area will cause heel pain. The Samurai insole has remedied my heel pain when I run but calf stretches have helped me prevent any foot pain coming back. Give them a go they have been great for me! |

What are Shirataki Konjac Noodles?
As you may guess from the name, shirataki noodles originated in Japan. They are made from the Konjac root, also called White Yam or Devil’s Tongue. They have a gelatinous texture and are a good source of the dietary fiber Glucomannan.
To make the noodles, the Glucomannan fiber is extracted from the Konjac root and mixed with water and limewater. This creates a gelatinous substance called konnyaku which is made into noodle-like or rice-like substances.
The finished noodles are 97% water and 3% indigestible fiber, making it a zero calorie noodle.
These noodles have gained the nickname “Miracle Noodles,” and are completely paleo and calorie-free.
They have virtually no taste on their own but have a slight fish-like smell when packaged wet. This is due to the water they are packaged in and can be easily rinsed off.
Are Shirataki Konjac Noodles Healthy?
It would seem like a product like this is too good to be true, but Shirataki noodles live up to their hype.
These noodles are a high-fiber food yet have no calories and no carbohydrates. The Glucomannan fiber in the noodles is a type of viscous fiber (soluble fiber). This is similar to what is found in chia seeds why they can absorb up to 50 times their weight in water.
Prebiotics in Glucomannan Fiber
The viscous fiber in Shirataki noodles is known as a prebiotic, meaning that it is indigestible to humans. It provides no calories or nutrients to human cells, but nourishes good bacteria in the digestive system.
Glucomannan for Weight Loss
Shirataki products and other Glucomannan containing foods are sometimes recommended for weight loss. These foods are no-calorie and high-fiber and are recommended on various types of diets.
Glucomannan as a Resistant Starch
Glucomannan is a great source of resistant starch and an incredibly easy way to incorporate this into the diet.
TURKEY KONJAC FETTUCCINE SKILLET
- Cook konjac fettuccine according to package directions.
- While the pasta cooks, saute the onion, celery and garlic in 1/4 cup water for 3 minutes in a large oven-proof skillet. Add mushrooms; cook and stir until vegetables are tender.
Konjac Fettuccini with Broccoli, Goat Cheese, and Oregano Recipe
- Bring a large pot of salty water to boil and cook the pasta until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta cooking water before draining.
- In the meantime, steam the broccoli or broccolini until tender. Alternatively, add it into the pasta water for the last few minutes of cooking.
- Return the pasta to the empty pot and add olive oil, lemon juice, and half of lemon zest, tossing to coat. Add broccoli, goat cheese, and half of oregano. Heat over low heat while stirring until goat cheese melts, adding reserved pasta water as necessary to create a silky sauce that coats the noodles. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Divide the pasta between warm plates and top with the remaining zest and oregano. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and drizzle with olive oil if desired. Serve immediately.
