Answer: | They are dry seeds-which May be exposed to heat for drying and so I would not suggest them for planting. |
Question: | Is this product in flake form? Is it fortified |
Answer: | I like the McCormick organic dill weed. I have not used the one you questioned it is resting on my spice shelf. |
Question: | Is this gluten free |
Answer: | It is like any other spice. It will go south. But unless you are chef, you may not know the difference. Meaning: Yes, it is dry...very. I store it in a large glass jar. The cost is about the same as one tenth of the same amount in a grocery store. I eat spices that maybe a chef would not use in a couple of months. I've had it 4 or 5 months, and it tastes fine to me. You've got nothing to lose. The amount and the price is so phenomenal. I got tired looking for dill and finding such tiny bottles of it for such a high price. |

Aromatic dill weed is more delicately flavored than the seed from the same plant. It enhances rather than dominates and is delicious in salads, sauces, light gravies, and with fish and grains. Botanical Name: Anthem grave lens L. Product Notes: The fresh, subtle flavor of dill weed is an excellent complement to fish dishes, cream soups, salads, mild dips, and poultry recipes. Origin: Israel/Germany Processing Notes: Dill weed is dried by laying the whole plant on vented racks inside a drier unit, at a 30 degree angle. The rack's vented surface and angle of placement allows air to circulate freely through the plant material. Heated air (not exceeding 110 degrees Fahrenheit) is circulated through the drier, while a dehumidifier removes moisture. It is necessary to expose the plants to both a heat source and a dehumidifier to prevent them from molding or decomposing in their own moisture. The plant material remains in the drier until a moisture level of approximately 8% is reached. After drying, the leaf and stem is separated from the dill tops.
