12 best fresh sage

Fresh sage, known scientifically as Salvia officinalis, is a popular culinary herb that belongs to the mint family (Lamiaceae). It is widely used in various cuisines around the world for its distinct flavor and aromatic qualities. Here's some information about fresh sage:

  1. Flavor and Aroma: Fresh sage has a strong, earthy, and slightly peppery flavor with hints of mint and eucalyptus. Its aroma is also robust and aromatic.

  2. Culinary Uses: Sage is a versatile herb used in both savory and sweet dishes. It pairs well with meats like poultry, pork, and sausages, and is often used in stuffing, roasts, and stews. It's also used in pasta dishes, omelets, and risottos. In addition, sage leaves can be fried until crispy and used as a garnish or added to salads.

  3. Medicinal Properties: Sage has a long history of medicinal use. It is believed to have various health benefits, including anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It has been used traditionally to treat digestive issues and sore throats.

  4. Appearance: Fresh sage leaves are oval-shaped, gray-green in color, and have a slightly fuzzy texture. They are usually 1-2 inches long and have a wrinkled appearance.

  5. Growing Sage: Sage can be grown in herb gardens or pots. It thrives in well-drained soil and requires full sunlight. It is a hardy perennial herb and can be harvested throughout the growing season.

  6. Drying Sage: Sage can be dried for longer shelf life.To do this, tie the stems in small bunches and hang them upside down in a cool, dry place until the leaves are completely dry. Once dried, you can store the leaves in an airtight container.

  7. Culinary Varieties: While common sage is the most widely used culinary variety, there are different cultivars with variations in flavor and appearance. Some examples include purple sage (with purple leaves), pineapple sage (with a pineapple scent), and tricolor sage (with variegated leaves).

  8. Flavor Combinations: Sage pairs well with other herbs and spices like thyme, rosemary, garlic, and parsley. It is a key ingredient in the classic poultry seasoning blend used in Thanksgiving turkey preparations.

  9. Nutritional Value: Sage is a low-calorie herb that contains vitamins (especially vitamin K), minerals, and antioxidants. It's used in moderate amounts in cooking, so it doesn't contribute significantly to daily nutritional intake.

Remember that fresh sage is more potent in flavor than dried sage, so you may need less of it in recipes that call for dried sage. It's a delightful herb that can add a unique and savory dimension to your culinary creations.

Answer: Three smudges in a pack
Question: Did anyone do any special ceremony in a new home with the sage? Or used it to help spirits move the on to their resting place
Answer: No special ceremony. I bought the sage to help cleanse me and my apt of negativity. I lit one bundle and waited until the flame turned into smoke. Then I wafted the smoke throughout each room. Then I wafted the smoke up and down myself. I also said and envisioned the negativity vanishing from me and my home.Hope that helps. You can find diff ways to smudge all by yourself on the internet. You have nothing to lose but negativity.
Question: Hello. so i received these sage sticks and i've tried smudging my home twice and is it normal for my home to smell "burnt"? like my furniture, bed
Answer: Burnt sage can smell burnt! :) Depends on what kind it is, and how dry it is.. You want to smoke the corners of your house, not so much your furniture- afterwards you should open your windows and let everything air out.

Burn white sage to clear energy and restore balance, for protection and spiritual purification.

Includes: 3 California White Sage wands

Burning Instructions

Hold the California White Sage over an open flame, tilting the end down at a 45-degree angle. Once lit, let the wood burn visibly for approximately 20 seconds, relighting as necessary.

Blow out the Sage stick and allow it to smolder. If the Sage is difficult to light we recommend untying the string and unraveling it a little bit. Sometimes the sage bundle is tight and doesn't leave much room for oxygen to ignite the flame.

Product description

White sage has a long history of traditional use among Native Americans as an herb for purification, for cleansing the surroundings as well as a person's aura, and for restoring peaceful energy. White sage is burned as incense where the smoke is thought to prepare the atmosphere and the participants before a ceremony begins. The natural resins and oils in the leaves create a sweet aroma that infuses the air with its healing fragrance.

Tea made from white sage leaves has proven anti-bacterial properties. Native Americans traditionally drank white sage tea for sore throats, fevers, sinus congestion and used its antiseptic properties to heal wounds. The tea was also used as a wash for cleansing the hair. By rubbing the leaves under the armpit, they made a natural deodorant that relieved unpleasant body odor.

White sage grows from the Central Coastal region of Santa Barbara south into Baja as a wild plant, but it has lost much of its natural habitat due to development. Worldwide Botanicals helps support the growth of this wild plant by sustainably cultivating and harvesting it without any chemicals in its natural habitat in the foothills of Santa Barbara. We carefully harvest only during the months of August through December when the oil and resins are highest in the leaf.

Worldwide Botanicals’ founder has been sourcing herbs worldwide for 40+ years, working in partnership with suppliers to import the highest quality products and guarantee superior flavor. We are not always the cheapest but our botanicals are the best.

Sourced in California

  • SUSTAINABLY HARVESTED: Whole Leaf White Sage is cultivated without chemicals in the foothills of the Los Padres National Forest in Santa Barbara, CA where sage grows naturally. We harvest during the months of August through December when the leaves are white and oil concentration is at its highest
  • MAKE A CLEANSING TEA: Native Americans traditionally drank white sage tea to ward off sickness. Crumble 4-5 leaves into a cup of freshly boiled water and steep for five minutes. Use as a wash on the skin or rinse your hair with the cooled tea for a brilliant shine and lovely aroma.
  • SACRED PLANT FOR CEREMONY: White sage is burned as incense for purification, for cleansing the surroundings as well as a person's aura, and for restoring peaceful energy. Native Americans have traditionally used its smoke to prepare the atmosphere and the participants before a ceremony

User questions & answers

Question: Can this be used to tie up into a sage stick/bundle
Answer: No its for single use only leaves are to dry for a stick or bundle I wouldn't try it
Question: Hello I'd like to get an organic certification which is issued at 2020. Do you have it? and send me via e-mail
Answer: Since this is a small crop grown on a hillside in Santa Barbara, CA, it is not certified organic. The cost of certification for small crops like these would make it too expensive for our customers. Nevertheless, it is grown without any inputs just like the wild plants that grow in the hills surrounding Santa Barbara.
Question: Is it phyoactive
Answer: NO It Is NOT
Question: Can i use it in the dry herb vape to prevent dry throat
Answer: I have never tried it in a vape, but I would hesitate to do so since it is such a strong plant. The best way I've found to prevent dry throat when vaping is to hydrate often with clean, filtered water that has trace minerals added.
