12 best long grain basmati parboiled
Long grain basmati parboiled rice is a specific type of rice known for its long, slender grains, distinctive aroma, and unique cooking process. Here's what you should know about it:
Basmati Rice: Basmati is a premium variety of rice known for its exceptional aroma and flavor. It is primarily grown in the Indian subcontinent, particularly in India and Pakistan. The name "basmati" is derived from the Sanskrit word for fragrant.
Long Grain: Basmati rice grains are typically long and slender, often two to three times longer than they are wide. This characteristic gives the rice its signature appearance and texture.
Parboiled Process: Parboiled rice is partially boiled in the husk, which helps retain more of the nutrients found in the rice bran. This process also makes the rice less prone to sticking together while cooking. Parboiled rice is known for its firmer texture and separate grains.
White Rice: Although basmati rice is available in both white and brown varieties, "long grain basmati parboiled" refers to white rice. The parboiling process ensures that the outer bran layer is removed, resulting in white grains.
Aroma: Basmati rice is prized for its unique aroma, which is often described as nutty or popcorn-like. This aroma is more pronounced in aged basmati rice.
Cooking: Long grain basmati parboiled rice is suitable for a variety of dishes, including biryani, pilaf, and other rice-based recipes. When cooking, it's important to rinse the rice thoroughly to remove excess starch and then follow the recommended cooking instructions for the best results.
Pantry Staple: Long grain basmati parboiled rice is a common pantry staple in many households, especially those that enjoy Indian, Pakistani, or Middle Eastern cuisine. It's versatile and pairs well with a wide range of dishes.
Packaging: You can find long grain basmati parboiled rice in various packaging sizes, ranging from small bags to larger bulk quantities. It's available in most grocery stores, specialty food stores, and online retailers.
In summary, long grain basmati parboiled rice is a high-quality white rice variety known for its long grains, distinctive aroma, and unique parboiling process. It's a popular choice for a wide range of dishes and is a staple in many kitchens, particularly in South Asian and Middle Eastern cuisines.

Answer: | Yes Rice are gluten free. Since the processing and packaging plant of Bombay Basmati rice only handles rice, it is safe to say that this product has no cross contamination of gluten. |
Question: | What is the arsenic level of this rice |
Answer: | I know that smell you’re referring to but I think it’s the burlap bag not the rice. Pour it up in a glass jar to make sure, |
Question: | Why will this cust 15 dollars more than other places |
Answer: | Checked all over the bag and says nothing about being aged. Comes from India originally. My package says it good to 2021 if you want to call that aged lol |
Question: | How does one properly open the bag |
Answer: | No need to soak or wash. I put my rice in a pan with water, swirl it around, and pour off that water. Then I add new water (1 1/2 cups for 1 cup rice), turn on the heat, bring to boiling, cover. Then reduce the heat to the lowest setting for 16 minutes. Remove from heat and let sit covered 5 minutes. Fluff w fork. That’s my method, anyway. I like this Bombay Market rice a lot, will reorder. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How is this delivered? will it be in an amazon box? i just don't want it exposed if it's just within its sack. tia |
Answer: | 4.5- 3/4 cup (100g) servings |
Question: | Small black bugs are inside the bag. when i wash rice they are floating. what can be done |
Answer: | The bad doesn't say, but the company is located in Canada. Have you looked at their web site? |
Question: | How long is each grain fully cooked |
Answer: | These beans are NOT soft. Yes, they had to be soaked in order to sprout them, but then they had to dry them to make them shelf stable. The instructions do mention soaking for shorter cooking time. The instructions, exactly as written on the bag:Instructions:Add 1 cup of Beans to 4 cups of boiling water in a medium saucepan. Boil for 15 minutes.Remove from heat and drain.Ready to consume, or add to any meal.Makes 4 servings.Presoak for shorter cooking time.BTW, I used to eat these without presoaking or cooking and I loved the flavor -- then I broke a tooth. If you want to eat these straight out of the bag, do so at your own risk. Fixing a broken tooth can be quite painful AND expensive. Now I boil some water, remove the water from the heat, then add the beans. After soaking an hour or two, they're soft enough to eat as a snack (or add to a cooked dish). |
Question: | There is a rumour of synthetic rice adulteration in Royal brand basmati, especially that is sold from Amazon. Can i buy this rice with confidence |
Answer: | Hi Jean, I don't know precisely where these beans are grown, but I just assumed it was somewhere in Canada because it has the canadian organic label. I like the beans but the expense of shipping was over the top for me so I have to figure out a different source. Hope this is helpful! Best regards, Louise |
