12 best rice basmatis
Basmati rice is a long-grain variety of rice that is highly prized for its aromatic fragrance, distinct flavor, and slender, elongated grains. It is commonly used in many cuisines, especially in South Asian and Middle Eastern cooking. Here are some key characteristics and information about Basmati rice:
Aroma and Flavor: Basmati rice is known for its unique aroma, often described as nutty or floral. When cooked, it releases a fragrant scent that enhances the overall dining experience. The flavor of Basmati rice is subtle, making it a versatile accompaniment to a wide range of dishes.
Grain Length: One of the defining features of Basmati rice is its long, slender grains. When cooked, these grains remain separate and fluffy, rather than sticking together, which is ideal for dishes like biryani, pilaf, or simply as a side dish.
Cultivation: Basmati rice is traditionally grown in the Indian subcontinent, particularly in India and Pakistan. The region's unique climate, soil, and water conditions contribute to the rice's distinctive qualities.
Varieties: Within the Basmati rice category, there are different varieties and subtypes, each with its own characteristics and flavor profiles. Some well-known Basmati rice varieties include Indian Basmati, Pakistani Basmati, and Texmati (a variety grown in the United States).
Cooking: Cooking Basmati rice is relatively simple. It is typically rinsed to remove excess starch and then cooked using the absorption method, where the rice is simmered in water until it absorbs the liquid and becomes tender. The rice-to-water ratio and cooking time may vary depending on the specific type and brand of Basmati rice.
Versatility: Basmati rice is a versatile ingredient used in a wide range of dishes, from traditional Indian and Middle Eastern cuisine to international recipes. It pairs well with curries, grilled meats, vegetables, and more.
Quality and Branding: Basmati rice quality can vary, and some brands are more highly regarded than others. Consumers often look for reputable brands that source high-quality Basmati rice with consistent aroma, flavor, and grain quality.
Storage: To maintain the freshness and aroma of Basmati rice, it should be stored in a cool, dry place in an airtight container. Proper storage helps prevent moisture and pests from affecting the rice.
Basmati rice is a popular choice for those who appreciate its unique qualities and wish to elevate the flavor and aroma of their dishes. It is commonly available in most grocery stores and online retailers, making it accessible to a wide range of consumers interested in exploring international cuisines.

User questions & answers
Question: | How is this delivered? will it be in an amazon box? i just don't want it exposed if it's just within its sack. tia |
Answer: | 4.5- 3/4 cup (100g) servings |
Question: | Small black bugs are inside the bag. when i wash rice they are floating. what can be done |
Answer: | The bad doesn't say, but the company is located in Canada. Have you looked at their web site? |
Question: | How long is each grain fully cooked |
Answer: | These beans are NOT soft. Yes, they had to be soaked in order to sprout them, but then they had to dry them to make them shelf stable. The instructions do mention soaking for shorter cooking time. The instructions, exactly as written on the bag:Instructions:Add 1 cup of Beans to 4 cups of boiling water in a medium saucepan. Boil for 15 minutes.Remove from heat and drain.Ready to consume, or add to any meal.Makes 4 servings.Presoak for shorter cooking time.BTW, I used to eat these without presoaking or cooking and I loved the flavor -- then I broke a tooth. If you want to eat these straight out of the bag, do so at your own risk. Fixing a broken tooth can be quite painful AND expensive. Now I boil some water, remove the water from the heat, then add the beans. After soaking an hour or two, they're soft enough to eat as a snack (or add to a cooked dish). |
Question: | There is a rumour of synthetic rice adulteration in Royal brand basmati, especially that is sold from Amazon. Can i buy this rice with confidence |
Answer: | Hi Jean, I don't know precisely where these beans are grown, but I just assumed it was somewhere in Canada because it has the canadian organic label. I like the beans but the expense of shipping was over the top for me so I have to figure out a different source. Hope this is helpful! Best regards, Louise |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this product of India |
Answer: | Not sure what yours is, but I just received mine yesterday and the best by date is Aug. 25th, 2 weeks away...ridiculous!!! |
Question: | Is this product glutton free and gmo free |
Answer: | Yes, it's 0 carbs. And it's delicious. It doesn't matter how much you use. If you add food that has carbs, you will get your carbs from what you add, but not from this. |
Question: | Is it brown rice |
Answer: | Yes it gets crispy! I used the air fryer to make the chicken! I dipped the chicken pieces in a egg first then the pork rind crumbs....absolutely delicious! My wife was optimistic at first but after she bit into she said it was better then with a flour based product! |
Question: | Is this rice difficult to prepare |
Answer: | I oven fry the shrimp in a hot oven...at least 425 degrees or even 450. I have a convection/air fry setting on a counter top oven that I use and it works well. I would think, but haven’t tried it so I’m can’t be sure, that laying the shrimp on parchment (maybe sprayed with a high heat oil like avocado oil) would also work for oven frying. I’ve also talked to people who dip the shrimp in whisked egg first & then the coating (pork rinds). They say that works. Another thing that might work is spraying the shrimp with a high heat oil. It might help the pork crum to bind to the shrimp. I think it takes some experimenting & hope you find a solution. Best wishes. |

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the expiry date? There is no information on the bag of rice |
Answer: | Yes Rice are gluten free. Since the processing and packaging plant of Bombay Basmati rice only handles rice, it is safe to say that this product has no cross contamination of gluten. |
Question: | What is the arsenic level of this rice |
Answer: | I know that smell you’re referring to but I think it’s the burlap bag not the rice. Pour it up in a glass jar to make sure, |
Question: | Why will this cust 15 dollars more than other places |
Answer: | Checked all over the bag and says nothing about being aged. Comes from India originally. My package says it good to 2021 if you want to call that aged lol |
Question: | How does one properly open the bag |
Answer: | No need to soak or wash. I put my rice in a pan with water, swirl it around, and pour off that water. Then I add new water (1 1/2 cups for 1 cup rice), turn on the heat, bring to boiling, cover. Then reduce the heat to the lowest setting for 16 minutes. Remove from heat and let sit covered 5 minutes. Fluff w fork. That’s my method, anyway. I like this Bombay Market rice a lot, will reorder. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this rice gluten free |
Answer: | Rice is gluten free. |
Question: | Does this product have the non GMO project verified symbol on it |
Answer: | There are only 10 commercially available GE crops produced and sold in the U.S.: field and sweet corn (not popcorn), soybeans, alfalfa, cotton, sugar beets, papaya, canola, squash, apples, and potatoes. And though derivatives of a few of these are present in a lot of packaged foods, a huge chunk of the project’s (non-GMO) 43,623 verified products and counting have no “GMO” counterpart on store shelves. These include popcorn, quinoa, kale, chicken, tomatoes, grapes, rice, and latex condoms, among others. This practice is illegal in Canada where, as described in the Manitoba Co-operator, sellers can't claim that a single or multi-ingredient food product is not made with genetic engineering if no GE alternative exists. |
Question: | Should I be concerned about arsenic |
Answer: | No need to be concerned. Fruits and Vegetables have more arsenic than rice. Millions of Indians and Chinese eat rice every meal with no problems. |

Answer: | Hi Bird, We sell the 25 lb bag for $58.56 plus shipping. Cheaper than the 66; but sorry it isn't like the old days. Happy shopping, VickiWorld Organics, Direct |
