Butternut Mountain Farm Maple Syrup starts in the forests of the Green Mountain State. Over the past 40 years we've built relationships with about 350 select sugarmakers - people whose stories we know and practices we respect. Perfect Taste

Maple Makes it Memorable
Forget pancakes, there are a lot of great ways to get maple into your daily diet. We eat maple every day, often as an ingredient in entrees you might not expect. Maple syrup & maple sugar bake up very similarly to cane sugar. Substitute about ¾ the volume of cane sugar with maple syrup, and reduce the other liquids to accommodate for any extra liquid. In the case of maple sugar, a one-to-one substitution generally works just fine.
What is Pure Maple Syrup?
Pure maple syrup comes from trees, not cornfields. The mighty maple - a tree indigenous to North America that boasts dramatic fall color and sports that iconic leaf - is the source of this sweet elixir. Each spring “maple sugar makers” head out to the native woods of eastern North America to collect the maple tree’s sap. Through a careful process of collection, concentration and boiling, the sap is transformed into the richly flavored amber colored syrup of which we are all so fond – 100% pure maple syrup. Through our commitment to careful stewardship, we can harvest sap from the same trees for centuries without diminishing the resource.
Pure maple contains no preservatives, artificial colors or flavors. It is just one simple ingredient with nothing added. Pure maple syrup is entirely natural and essentially wild - a thoroughly wholesome sweetener straight from the forest to your table.

The Craft of Maple Sugaring
Coombs Family Farms has produced pure, great tasting maple syrup for seven generations by taking special care of our ancient sugar maple trees. As small family farmers, we understood there are no shortcuts producing great tasting maple syrup.
We farm our own land, produce certified organic maple syrup and package our own pure maple products. Coombs also sources maple syrup from over 3,000 small independent family farms that share our commitment to quality, environmental stewardship and sustainable forest management.
Small is a Big Idea
At Coombs Family Farms, we support small family farms because we believe they provide more than high quality food. They help restore those lost feelings of connection and meaning by providing opportunities for us to play a better role in determining where the foods we eat come from, how our food is produced, and how it gets to our table. Small farms also strengthen rural economies, preserve important ecosystems, and help to protect a way of life that is increasingly under threat.
Seven Generations of Stewardship
Since the mid-1800’s, the Coombs family has been acting as responsible stewards of the forest, following a ‘sustainable’ approach to agriculture long before anyone had a specific name for it – or could conceive of any other way to farm. As part of a fabric of nearly 8000 maple farmers who are all preserving maple forests, Coombs Family Farms is doing more than making maple. We are helping to preserve crucial habitat for thousands of distinct plants and animals that need large intact tracts of forest to survive.
Get Real - Taste the Truth
In 1887, the first breakfast syrup that wasn’t pure maple was introduced. It was made of 45% maple syrup and 55% corn syrup. Its price compared to real maple syrup made it an instant hit. By the 1990s, most imitation syrup brands had eliminated maple syrup from their products entirely, opting to use high fructose corn syrup (HFCS), artificial flavorings and artificial colors instead. As a result, labeling laws in the United States were enacted to prohibit artificial syrups from using the word maple in their names.
Small Maple Farmer Advocacy
There's nothing like the taste of 100% pure maple syrup, and at Coomb’s Family Farm, we have a long history of producing the best. We collect syrup from maple syrup producers throughout New England. This helps them maintain their family farms and helps our communities thrive while keeping this important lifestyle alive for future generations. Enjoy our products confident in the knowledge that you are enjoying the purest gluten-free, nut-free, non-GMO maple syrup you can buy.
Grade A Dark/Robust
With a color and maple flavor more intense than Amber/Rich, this versatile grade is great as a topping and for cooking. Its strong maple flavor also lends itself to meat glazes, cooking recipes, and on top of waffles, pancakes, or oatmeal.
Grade A Amber/Rich
Known for its smooth maple flavor and slightly darker than the Golden/Delicate grade. This distinctive taste is produced mid-season when the temperatures start to warm. Its unique and subtle flavor is most often used for table syrup.
Maple Sugar
Organic maple sugar is the secret ingredient for adding a touch of unique character, flavor and sweetness to your favorite foods and drinks. Sweet but interesting, and not as sweet as conventional sugar.
Product description
Pure maple syrup goes well with so many different flavors, and one of the most delectable pairings is maple and bourbon. Crown Maple celebrates this exquisite combination with their Limited Edition Bourbon Barrel Aged syrup. First, pure organic maple syrup is aged in barrels to absorb the flavor of bourbon. Then it is bottled in their state-of-the-art sugarhouse in Dover Plains, New York. The elegant packaging of this unique syrup is designed to reflect the superb quality of the product within, described in The Wall Street Journal as "soul-stirring". Bourbon maple syrup can be enjoyed in many ways. Naturally, the simplest uses are to pour it straight over waffles, ice cream, peaches or oatmeal, and recipe ideas include Maple Bourbon Fruit Salsa, Maple Bourbon Grilled Pineapple, Maple Bourbon Bacon, and Maple Bourbon Mustard. Crown Maple Syrup is crafted in Dutchess County, New York exclusively from the sap produced by 25,000 majestic sugar and red maple trees on a 800-acre sustainably managed farm. These varieties produce the sweetest sap on the planet and, combined with the perfect climate of the Hudson River Valley, make it possible for Crown Maple to produce their regal syrup. There are typically only about 20 prime sap days in a season and they generally begin in mid-February when temperatures in the Hudson Valley climb into the 40s during the day and dip to below freezing at night. This temperature fluctuation creates pressure inside the maples that naturally forces out the sap. Crown uses a unique Reverse Osmosis unit - the only one of its kind in the US - that quickly and efficiently removes 90 percent of the water and produces a concentrate with the precise sugar content required for the next stage of their process. Using reverse osmosis to remove most of the water is far superior because it protects the delicate sap from prolonged exposure to heat which causes burning and excess carmelization.
- Certified Organic
- 100% Pure Maple Syrup
- Crafted with superior flavor and exceptional quality in Dutchess County, NY
User questions & answers
Question: | Where is the expiration date located |
Answer: | The bourbon flavor that they describe comes from the barrels in which they age the maple syrup. The barrels were originally used to ferment bourbon and repurposed for the syrup. This is technically not an added ingredient, just a little flavoring. Absolutely no alcohol would be transferred over in this process. |
Question: | Ok for kids? Has alchole in it |
Answer: | Maple syrup comes straight from the tree....you can't get anymore organic than that. |
Question: | The ingredients only lists maple syrup. What gives it the bourbon flavor; shouldn't that be listed |
Answer: | This is grade A Dark. NY State no longer has Grade B, it switched to an international grading standard a few years ago. Now everything is Grade A and either Golden, Amber Dark or Very Dark. What you’re looking for is now called Very Dark (formerly Grade B). We have some of our 32oz and 64oz sizes in Very Dark, just add a note to your order of your preference and I will personally hook you up ;) Hope this helps |
Question: | is it organic |
Answer: | Hi Tom, the difference in Amber and Dark syrup is color and taste. There are 4 grades of syrup Golden, Amber, Dark and Very Dark. The lighter the syrup the lighter maple flavor. As it gets darker the maple flavor becomes more pronounced. 95% of our customers request Dark grade, and this years Dark syrup came out SUPER tasty! Hope this helps. |

Question: | How many carbs per serving |
Answer: | 2Tbs is 1serving size 2Tbs = 10 calories 2Tbs = 4 grams minus 4 grams sugar alcohol = 0 carbs |
Question: | Are they now using Splenda only |
Answer: | Sorbitol is first sweetener indicating the most prevalent. In the case with other sugar alcohols, foods containing sorbitol can cause gastrointestinal distress. FYI Erythritol is 60–70% as sweet as sucrose (table sugar) yet it is almost noncaloric,[1] and does not affect blood sugar.[2] does not cause tooth decay. Erythritol does not normally cause laxative effects and gas or bloating, as are often experienced after consumption of other sugar alcohols (such as maltitol, sorbitol, xylitol, lactitol, and maltitol). |

User questions & answers
Question: | What’s the difference between the maple and maple flavored |
Answer: | The syrup is not real maple which is thick and sweet, maple flavored tastes like maple syrup, but, is not thick. |
Question: | what grade is this, A or B |
Answer: | If you really know about maple syrup, the real stuff, it’s like grade A fancy. Thin and like melted butter. Thick maple syrup is actually not the best, though it is what most people are used to ;) Love this product! |
Question: | Are there any other sweeteners used to bulk this up? what is the carb count on this |
Answer: | Monk Fruit & non-GMO Eryrthritol are in the ingredient list which you can probably see online in full, the carb count 11, fiber count 5, so I think that makes it net 6 g carb for serving of 2 tbsp...I am new to keto, so guessing here. |
Question: | Why can’t they make this without erythritol |
Answer: | Maybe in the future that will be an option. For now, erythritol combined with monk fruit is what makes it a 1:1 sugar replacement. It provides what it needed to have a product comparable to traditional syrups. The same texture/flavor cannot easily be replicated with monk fruit only. |
