Honey is a natural sweet substance produced by bees using nectar from flowers. Bees collect nectar and store it in their hives, where enzymes break down the sugars in the nectar into glucose and fructose. The water content is then reduced through evaporation, resulting in the thick, sweet liquid known as honey.
Honey has been used for centuries as a sweetener in various cuisines and is a common ingredient in cooking and baking. It's valued not only for its sweetness but also for its unique flavor and aroma, which can vary depending on the types of flowers the bees visit.
In addition to its role in sweetening foods and beverages, honey is also known for its potential health benefits. It contains natural antioxidants and small amounts of vitamins and minerals. Some people use honey as a natural remedy for soothing sore throats or coughs.
Honey comes in various forms, including liquid honey, creamed honey, and comb honey. Liquid honey is the most common form and can be easily poured and used in a variety of recipes. Creamed honey is crystallized honey that has been finely crystallized to create a smooth, spreadable consistency. Comb honey is honey still in its original beeswax comb.
When purchasing honey, it's essential to choose high-quality, pure honey to ensure you're getting all the natural goodness and flavors. Some varieties of honey, such as Manuka honey, are particularly prized for their unique properties and potential health benefits.

Question: | Raw honey vs raw organic ? Which one is best . thanks |
Answer: | Both blends are very popular, so it is a matter of taste preference. Our Nature Nate’s 100% Pure, Raw & Unfiltered Classic Honey with the orange cap contains honey from select beekeepers across the U.S. and Canada. It is a blend of several vegetation including wildflower, clover and tallow. Our Nature Nate’s 100% Pure, Raw & Unfiltered Organic Honey with the green cap is sourced from Brazil and Uruguay. This honey is certified USDA Organic. Currently, our organic blend is multi-floral with the majority being eucalyptus. Nature Nate's has one of the industry’s most rigorous sampling and testing practices in the honey industry which ensures that our honey is among the purest available on the market today. Our honey undergoes testing for additives such as rice and corn syrup, as well as pesticides, herbicides, and antibiotics. Give them both a try! |

Question: | What Expiration is it |

Question: | The latest purchase is crystalized. I don’t like it and will send it back. Is there any solution |
Answer: | Give the jar a warm/hot water bath. It is a good sign if honey crystallizes. It means the good stuff hasn’t been killed by heat, nor is it watered down. I taught natural foods cooking classes and I know whereof I speak. |

User questions & answers
Question: | What does the kfactor number mean |
Answer: | Hello, Thank you for your interest in our products, we appreciate it. It is important to note that the UMF Honey Association is a trade association made of voluntary paid membership, and is not a regulatory authority in New Zealand. As a trade association, they have their own honey grading system that their members must follow. Both the UMF rating system and our KFactor system have been deemed compliant for use by the NZ regulatory authority. Because the rating systems are internal standards, comparison of the two is not a transparent exercise. The regulatory authority in New Zealand, the Ministry of Primary Industries, has recently released the regulatory definition of Manuka honey, which will come into law from 5 February 2018. This is the result of many years of scientific research to find stable markers that can be easily and quickly replicated in the laboratory environment. Unfortunately, pollen analysis was not included because this requires specialist knowledge to differentiate the pollen. However, they have included a DNA test to prove floral origin as an easily replicated laboratory test. The markers used by the UMF association of Leptosperin, Dihydroxyacetone (DHA), and Methylglyoxal (MGO) were not included into the regulatory definition due to stability and other issues undisclosed by the regulatory authority. The regulatory definition includes 4 chemical markers with varying threshold levels, and the DNA test. A sample must meet all 5 test standards to be considered (and labelled) as Manuka honey. More information can be found on the regulatory website here: http://www.mpi.govt.nz/growing-and-harvesting/honey-and-bees/manuka-honey/ Please check out our website for updates and new products this year and if you’d like to try some samples, please email me back your shipping address. We hope this helps to clarify the answers to your questions, as we realize that the lack of a regulatory definition until now has created a high amount of confusion in the consumer market. We can be reached Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm EST our toll-free number is 877-296-8403, or email me at [email protected] with any additional questions. Thank you, |
Question: | Where is the UMF label on the front of the jar? Only the UMF label are legit |
Answer: | IMPORTANT & UP TO DATE FACTS (as of 5/23/2019): 1.) UMF is not a government agency, it is a trade organization all of whose founders & members are in the industry. 2.) MPI is a government agency in New Zealand & as of February 5th, 2018, is the only government regulated and approved standard for Manuka Honey in the world. |
Question: | What is the grade of this manuka honey? I have heard it needs to be over 12 plus |
Answer: | K-Factor 12 has been tested to equal MGO 68, which is just below NPA 5, K-Factor 15 has been tested to equal MGO 123, which is just above NPA 5. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this raw, unfiltered, unheated honey |
Answer: | It's CALLED 'Raw Wildflower' honey, but I doubt that it is unfiltered, and I think (though I am NOT any kind of expert) in order to filter it that it is probably heated some, enough to help it flow better, but not so much as to intentionally pasteurize it, though I can't be sure of that. |
Question: | us grade a, unfiltered 2. this product is minimally heated to aid the filtration process. is it filtered or not? which is it |
Answer: | I used to keep bees but due to where I live and physical limitations I can no longer do so, that said when I had bees I "filtered" all my honey. By filtering I run it through several different sizes of mesh strainers. My basic honey collection process was I would remove the full "honey supers" (box places in a "Langstom" style beehive filled with frames of comb for bees to store honey) and replace them with empty ones) The full honey supers were taken to my bee shed where I would check honey from each frame to ensure it was "dry" enough for bottling. Honey not dry enough was normally feed back to my bees or sometimes collected and given to family members to use in a couple of weeks or for baking. I digress the "dry" capped honey comb was then uncapped and spun as the honey poured out of the spinner into a bucket it pass though a fairly course set of sieves (3/8", 5/16" to quickly remove pieces of cap wax, dead bees or bee parts and other things that were not honey. The buckets I used to collect honey in at this stage were 6 gallon food safe plastic buckets with a "honey gate" installed on them. After all the fames of comb were spun I would collect all the comb caps, and honey comb that I was not going to reuse and press them to remove any honey and to prepare the wax for melting and cleaning. The honey collected from squeezing also was filter/strained for the first time as well. The freshly collected honey was allowed to set in my "hot room" (I had a large insulated closet in my bee shed that I keep at 90 to 100 degrees F so that when I processed my honey it would remain viscous and pourable) The honey would stay in the hot room for 3 or 4 days to settle any smaller FOB (Foreign Objects) out (anything that is not honey) using another set of smaller strainers (1/4", 5/32", 1/10", and 3/32") this set of strainers was made out of stainless steel and wrapped with heat tape that was keep them at 95-98 degrees. The "Filtered" (strained) honey was poured into more 6 gallon food grade buckets and was either bottled or sold in bulk to my local honey cooperative. Myself I took care never to let the comb or honey go above 100 degrees F once I removed it from my hives and trusted my bees to keep the honey in good shape while in my hives. Additionally I never sold honey directly from hive "cut-outs" or "dead-outs" that honey was either consumed by friends and family or feed back to my bees usually at times of dearth or before winter as food. The reason for me writing this is to try and clear up confusion about the general use of the term filtering in the bee industry and how raw honey can heated (it is considered an acceptable industry practice to heat/warm honey up to 105 F and for it still be raw once honey is heated past that point many of the good enzymes and other benefits of honey can be altered not for the better or destroyed. Personally I only buy honey from framers markets when I can or from honey from US or Canadian bee keepers preferably US and as local to me as possible. My reasoning for US/Canadian honey say as opposed to honey from South America is because I have no idea how hot the honey got while being shipped from South America but I can guess it got well above 105 for a extended period of time in a shipping container either at the docks or while at sea, second is agricultural standards in the US and Canada are generally better than South America and other parts of world. As for my preference of buying honeys that are produced near me means I am eating closer to home which when it comes to honey means the bees are eating the pollens that are in my general area and I believe that helps with my pollen allergies which when I was keeping bees were almost a non issue |
Question: | Has the issue with the cap been resolved |
Answer: | No the broken/flimsy cap problem has NOT been resolved. I forgot to mention the obvious in my initial answer to this question: both caps on two bottles that I just received WERE BROKEN, and one (broken) cap was barely on. LOOK AT ALL THE PICTURES, and I'm sure you'll see what the issue is. |
Question: | I wonder if this is truly made out of honey or being mixed with sugar? hmm |
Answer: | Searching the internet provides some ways to try to find out. I'll describe some of them below. One source says, "Before carrying out any of tests, one basic and extremely simple “how to check the purity of honey” method is to read the label on the jar of honey, prior to its purchase. Manufacturers are required to mention the additives and additional substances that have been added to the produced honey." That source goes on to say, "Different types of pure honey can cover a large range of density, flammability, and other characteristics. While the following tests are based on true principles, in practice your results may be inconclusive." THUMB TEST Here’s the procedure to do a thumb test: Put a small drop of the honey you have on your thumb Check to see if it spills or spreads around If it does, it is not pure Pure honey will stay intact on your thumb WATER TEST: Fill a glass with water Add one tablespoon of honey into the glass Adulterated or artificial honey will dissolve in water and you will see it around the glass Pure honey on the other hand will settle right at the bottom of your glass DILUTED WITH WATER TEST: Drop honey on blotting paper or a paper towel If honey has been diluted with water, it may be absorbed or leave a wet mark on an absorbent material such as blotting paper. Pure honey should not be absorbed, but unfortunately, neither will honey diluted with most sugar syrups. ANOTHER WATER DILUTED TEST: Dip cotton in honey and light it up with a matchstick. If the honey is pure, it will burn. Adulterated honey will produce a cracking sound due to the presence of water in it. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this organic |
Answer: | If you look at the ingredients (see the photos of the 2 products) you will see that the baking product contains a soluble fiber (the company will not tell what it is). The sugar packets contain the fiber which also helps the baked good brown. |
Question: | Can you take off the label |
Answer: | The only ingredients listed are erythritol and Reb-M (fermented sugar cane). There is no fiber value listed on the nutritional label in the photos. It's strange then that Purcane states there IS soluble fiber, yet won't share what it is or put it on the label. I would avoid this company and product. |
Question: | Are there already labels on the jars |
Answer: | There are six boxes of cakes in the carton. Each box has 4 cakes so I got way more than I expected but I can never find this flavor in the store. |
Question: | How long is the mini honey dippers |
Answer: | The item cost is $5.29 and it contains 4 individual pouches inside the box. |

User questions & answers
Question: | What was the outcome of the lawsuit claiming that the honey is heated and having syrup mixed in |
Answer: | Here's more on the story. They don't report an outcome of the suit. https://topclassactions.com/lawsuit-settlements/consumer-products/food/881041-nature-nates-class-action-says-100-raw-honey-mislabeled/ |
Question: | Is this honey pasteurized |
Answer: | Victoria Cooper, the "Manufacturer" said in the first response that their honey "hasn't been heated". But the advertising above says the honey is "warmed". It is very telling that they don't tell you what temperature the honey is exposed to, or for how long. ANY added heat, for ANY length of time will start to degrade the beneficial enzymes that naturally occur in honey. So, is this a play on words, or are they trying to mislead you? They won't definitively answer this question. |
Question: | Is this made in the USA from USA bees |
Answer: | When I first started buying nates it always said 100% american. Then they started with USA & Canada. I tried the organic and HATED it. In not sure where it was from. I have never gotten a regular bottle from anywhere outside of canada & usa. Usually if they try to sneak it by they MUST list where the product is from. They will usually post a little 2 letter country code. Usually in very small print on the back. |
Question: | If it's made by american bees, why does the description say "imported from brazil?" do the american bees live in brazil |
Answer: | Play on words is what companies do. There's an olive oil grower, USA, that makes an American Blend. In fine print it discloses 50% California grown, and 50% Brazilian & Peru. It is an American blend.... from North AND South America. The same with this honey company's description... it is made by American bees... South American. Marketing keeps us on our toes. ;-) |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this honey USA sourced, and processed, or is it imported |
Answer: | According to the description, it's US Grade A honey that has been filtered via the normal heating process. This may reduce certain nutrients, enzymes, however it removes any wax, pollen, etc. The quality of the honey remains high. Very satisfied with this product. |
Question: | Where is this honey sourced from |
Answer: | Bees,,, Chuckles,, Likely from one of the five states boarding the gulf of mexico! |
Question: | What the health benefits |
Answer: | Less preservatives. Easier for the body to break down than corn syrup or sugar. |
Question: | From where are the bees from |
Answer: | I looked at my bottle and it says "Product of Argentina, Canada and USA." I know that when ingredients are listed on products, they are listed in descending order. If this is done the same, then the largest percentage would be from Argentina, then Canada, followed by USA. Or it could just be in alphabetical order. Sorry I can't be more helpful. I can say it has a great taste to it! |

User questions & answers
Question: | Two of my honey bottles were delivered broken and homey was spilled everywhere. Ho do i get a refund |
Answer: | Same height as the jars. About two inches. Super cute and well made. |
Question: | I would like to purchase sunflower honey from Ukraine please |
Answer: | It's a proprietary family patented blend for low-glycemic results, to keep insulin levels down. A blend of crystalline fructose, lactose, milk, and sucrose that = 75% fewer calories than sugar. |
Question: | Why no refund for broken item? Packaging was insufficient. Now i have inedible mess |
Answer: | The primary sweetener is Reb M. The erythritol is filler, which is itself 70% the sweetness of sugar and 6% the digestible carbs. Erythritol alone has some flavors some don't care for, possibly because for sugar-equivalent sweetness you have to use a good bit more. But when a sweeter component is added to bring it back to 1/1 sugar equivalency, usually Reb A or Reb M, this effect drops off to the point most people don't have a problem with it. PureCane uses Reb M (from sugarcane using a new fermentation technique), which is more expensive to produce than Reb A (from stevia), but it's not nearly as bitter as the more common Reb A. By the way, many stevia sweeteners use dextrose as the filler. Yes, those are actually using sugar as the main ingredient in a sugar substitute. |
Question: | Is the honey kosher? Does it bear a kosher mark |
Answer: | This product has a new fermented sugarcane sweetener called Reb M, in addition to erythritol and soluble fiber, which provide volume and bulk. In my experience, this product performs better than plain erythritol in a number of applications- I’ve used it successfully in baked goods, custards, ice cream, and jam, with a taste that is nearly identical to sugar, and no detectable aftertaste or cooling sensation (like you’d get with plain erythritol). Swerve contains erythritol and fiber, but no Reb M. In my opinion the taste/ performance ranking goes like this: 1) Purecane, 2) Swerve, 3) erythritol. I use plain erythritol to everyday sweeten beverages and smoothies, but I choose the more expensive and better tasting products in desserts that I share with others (who can’t tell I’ve used a sugar substitute)! |

At Wholesome, we go more than the extra mile for our Organic Honey. We head to the remote, protected forests of Mexico and Brazil where organic beehives are surrounded by miles of lush greenery and wildflowers for foraging. While bees enjoy this multi-floral diet, you’ll be delighted that it leads to the purest, best tasting honey. Unlike most locally or U.S.-produced honey, every ounce of Wholesome Organic Honey remains free from harmful chemicals like pesticides, antibiotics, genetically modified organisms and other pollutants. We carefully protect every drop of our honey, ensuring only goodness gets to shelf to give you a purely wholesome choice. This Organic Honey is unfiltered and raw (not heated above natural hive temperatures), so it retains its beneficial and naturally occurring pollen and propolis. We couldn’t bring you this pure of honey without our partner beekeepers. That’s why in 2008, we committed to giving them a fair price for their work and pioneered Fair Trade Certified honey in the U.S. When you choose Wholesome, you bring home more than organic honey. You also help protect the lives and hives of bees, keeping them—and your own home—free from harmful things with every delicious drop.
- ORGANIC RAW UNFILTERED HONEY - Honey as it should BEE… Straight from the hive!
- PESTICIDE FREE & NON GLYPHOSATE - Bees only fly up to 4 miles from their hives. With organic hives deep in South American forests, our honey bees are kept away from GMO's and pollutants. We also rigorously test our honey to ensure it's clean and unadultured.

User questions & answers
Question: | It sounds like below is stating or implying that sugars are added to the honey final product? I did look up the labeling changes. So actually, t |
Answer: | On May 20, 2016, the FDA announced the new Nutrition Facts labeling rules for packaged foods. This new label now includes a line for “Added Sugars” to be listed on the nutrition facts panel. “Added Sugars” is a subcomponent of total sugars and indicates how much sugar is naturally occurring or has been added to the product during processing or packaging. We have not changed our sugars or sweeteners in any way, so no “extra” sugars have been added to any of our delicious organic sugars, agave, honey, molasses, and sweeteners. |
