User questions & answers

Question: What are the ingredients
Answer: Sweet White Rice Flour, Whole Grain Brown Rice Flour, Potato Starch, Whole Grain Sweet White Sorghum Flour, Tapioca Flour, Xanthan Gum
Question: What is the difference between this and Bob's red-label baking flour
Answer: The red label flour has garbanzo bean flour in it. I could not handle that way my end products came out with the red label flour. That garbanzo bean flavor just overpowered almost everything I baked especially any sweet baked goods, just bitter as. Will only get the blue label one from now on.... plus the blue label has xanthan gum.
Question: Can you make this in a bread machine
Answer: We asked Bob's Red Mill and their response was, "Our 1 to 1 Baking Flour is best used in pastries like muffins, quick breads, and cookies. It has a low protein content and does not work well as a bread flour. You can use it to make Pizza Dough though."
Question: Do you like this blend for cookies, brownies, cakes, etc. - sweet treats
Answer: For baked goods like cookies ,brownies ,etc it works well. I have even made zucchini bread with it. Does not work well with regular bread though. The best gluten free flour out there.

User questions & answers

Question: I like to bake challah bread. can i use this gluten free 1-1 baking flour? or something else? for the best result. Ty
Answer: I used a knife. There was a crease in the wax top about where the cap ends. You probably won't be able to take it off without cutting part of the wax. It's like a bottle of Maker's Mark.
Question: Has anyone used this for a chiffon cake? What were the results? TY
Answer: A spoon full of this sauce will send you on a journey of pain. You will have to use your meditation abilities to overcome the pain and endurance to outlast the anguish.
Question: Does anyone know how well this flour blend works in dinner roll recipes versus biscuits
Answer: Being a chili head, I couldn't give this more than about 4-500k to be honest. It doesn't give the throat hit near as much as others that are around the 1m mark and the mouth burn is not near as severe.
Question: Can you use this in a bread machine
Answer: I would reach out to the seller to inquire about price changes

User questions & answers

Question: What is the expiration date
Answer: For different sellers, it can be different. For those, we sell (ECODESIGN-US) the expiration date 23 Sep 2021
Question: it says 25 pack is that correct
Answer: This product is a 25 POUND package. I was so happy to purchase this product in a large bulk! I divided into 2.5 pound packages and put them in the freezer. My cost savings over buying small packages at the store is a solid 50% savings. Hope this helps.
Question: What packaging does the flour come in? Several plastic bags? If so, are they the resealable bags, and what size
Answer: It is one bag as pictured... It is a paper type bag that is not resealable. Other smaller packaging options are available for this product from various suppliers, but I don't think they are on smaller resealable bags either.
Question: How can this be .01/oz? Has anyone done the math? My husband calculated a price for 25# at $79 and it was well over this. Who did this figuring
Answer: Amazon's internal calculations calculate the cost per pound. I'm sorry we can't change this. Yes, their math is definitely off - at .16 cents a pound - the 25 lbs. would be $4. YIKES

User questions & answers

Question: HOW TO MAKE BANANA BREAD
Answer: I have a recipe that I use to make banana bread with a combination of Bob's gluten free flour, oat flour (grind up oats in a blender), and whey concentrate (available in bulk from natural food stores, or in tub form in the health section of many stores). This gives a good density to the loaf and good flavor. The oats are a humectant (they retain moisture) so the loaf will have the familiar texture that you'd expect from banana bread. Here's my recipe (doesn't use butter, sugar, or flour):222g bananas (about 2 medium bananas, can also substitute any or all for pure pumpkin puree)69g liquid egg whites61g applesauce1 tbsp sour milk (I mix some milk and lime juice and let it stand for a while before adding it)2 tsp vanilla extract1 tsp butter extract (a nice addition to just about any baking done without butter)1/2 c stevia or other sweetener1/2 tsp salt108g whey concentrate30g gluten free flour30g oat flour (can get certified gluten free oats for a fully gluten free loaf)1 1/2 tsp baking soda1 tsp xanthan gum (helps the loaf hold its shape when it rises, can try the recipe without it and see if you like it)Spray loaf pan with cooking spray, dust bottom with dry ingredients before adding them to the wet ingredients.Mix well, pour into pan and bake at 350º until internal temp is 185º (about 30-45 minutes).Sorry the measurements are in grams. If I get to converting them to cups and so on I'll update the recipe.
Question: It does not say all the ingridients. Can someone please tell me
Answer: copied from Bob red mill Site...Gluten Free All-Purpose Baking Flour is a blend of garbanzo bean flour, potato starch, whole grain white sorghum flour, tapioca flour and fava bean flour. It's just the thing for those sensitive to gluten. Our Gluten Free All-Purpose Baking Flour can replace wheat flour in a variety of recipes with the addition of xanthan gum or guar gum.One serving of 34 grams contains 3.5 grams of whole grains and 10% of the recommended daily serving of fiber. This flour can be made into delicious homemade baked goods such as cakes, cookies, breads, and breakfast items such as muffins, pancakes, and waffles. Tips for use and a recipe for scrumptious gluten free chocolate chip cookies are on the label.peanut allergy people can be sensitive to the Garbanzo/chickpea flour and Fava bean flour
Question: Weight per cup of this flour
Answer: One cup of Bob's Red Mill weighs 140 grams or approximately 5 ounces.
Question: What are the recommended leavening agents for this? Baking soda leaves a nasty aftertaste for biscuits. I want to like this flour
Answer: I use baking powder, aluminum free, low sodium from Trader Joe's. I also use 3/4 cup of Bob's with 1/4 cup almond flour from Costco or similar, 1/2-1 tsp of cinnamon per cup of flour and about 1/2 to 3/4 teaspoon of Xanthan gum. With this ratio Bob's makes most excellent and delicious muffins, waffles and pancakes. I think the cinnamon counteracts the bitterness of the bean flour. I find the cinnamon flavor is pretty much lost.

About the Brand

Bob Moore's secret to life may just be "work hard and keep it simple." Living this philosophy, Bob literally puts his nose to the grindstone every day. Bob's Red Mill Natural Foods is an Oregon-based company that utilizes simple, old-world technology to mill hundreds of all-natural whole grain products.

Bob's Red Mill is dedicated to the manufacturing of natural foods in the natural way. In their own words: "With all the sophisticated knowledge of recent times, no machinery has yet been developed that grinds grains into flour quite as well as our flint-hard quartz millstones quarried in France and used by discriminating millers since early Roman times."

"Our well-dressed (sharpened) sets of millstones turn the highest quality wheat into a finer, better baking bread flour than all the hammer mills, steel roller mills, steel buhr mills, or pulverizers ever built! These slow turning millstones grind the bran, endosperm, and germ (containing its nutritious wheat germ oil) into flour in a cool natural way, creating a more assimilable food."

Bob's Red Mill stone grinds all common and most uncommon grains into flours and meals on its over 100-year-old mills. They mix them into an astounding array of unique cereals, pancake and waffle mixes, machine and hand-made bread mixes, quick bread mixes, gluten-free mixes, and specialty grain products.

User questions & answers

Question: Can I use this baked bread for bread stuffing
Answer: Absolutely, I don’t see a problem using this for stuffing. They might not notice that it’s gluten free!
Question: Can I use a oven instead of a bread machine? Baking the GF dough inside a oven to make bread? Will it work
Answer: I have a Cuisinart CBK-200 machine and it works great. There is a GF cycle on the machine and I have not had a bad loaf yet. I alter the recipe as follows: 2 cups milk vs 1-2/3, add 1-1/2 tsp sugar to help make the bread rise fully. Other than that, it's pretty simple. I don't see a reason why you can't bake in an oven; there are directions for both on the bag.
Question: I purchased this product in bulk-how much do I use and how much yeast do I need
Answer: 1 bag makes 1 loaf of bread. The yeast packet is in the bag. You only add eggs, melted butter, cider vinegar, and warm milk. I actually use 3 whole eggs instead of 6 egg whites and I bake mine 5 minutes longer to keep the loaf from falling in the middle when it cools
Question: How much flour should be used for a bread-machine recipe
Answer: I don't even have a bread machine and mix the whole recipe by hand. It turns out just fine. I do, however, mix the yeast in the warm water and add a teaspoon of sugar (yeast grows better in sugar water). The bread made with this mix is our favorite and has always turned out just great. For a bread machine, use the whole bag and follow the recipe. I do cover the top with foil in the last 20 minutes or so. Note: I always mix the wet ingredients together first, add half the bread mix, stir together, then add the rest of the mix and stir it together.

User questions & answers

Question: Is there something else we cans use as a binder if we can't eat Xanthan Gum or eggs
Answer: Guar gum can be used instead of Xanthan gum, and an egg can be replaced with 1 Tbls ground flaxseed + 3 Tbls water. How well the substitutions work depends on what you're making. Egg replacements especially don't work well in some things.

User questions & answers

Question: Is that kosher for Passover
Answer: While all of our products are Kosher, none of our products are certified Kosher for Passover. For our products to be certified as this, a rabbi would have to be on site providing real time supervision. This is not currently a practice we have adopted.
Question: Is this product organic
Answer: Hi KBF, I checked my packages of Bob's Red Mill Almond Meal/Flour. There is nothing on them that indicates they are 'organic'. The only ingredient is 100% ground almonds. The product is totally gluten-free, kosher and pareve. I hope my response is useful to you. You can look for my review (dated March 9, 2015) at this product's Amazon site.
Question: Has anyone used it with Tapioca flour instead of wheat flour
Answer: Many times I have used this.Tapioca flour is used in combination of other flours such rice, sorghum, almond etc... In baking products it adds a springy texture and helps in browning baked goods. Tapioco flour is used for thickening soups, sauces, and dips. To replace wheat flour you would need a combination of flours. There are many recipes online for wheat/gluten free baking mixes. I hope this helps you. Kitchen Queen
Question: Can you just swap out "regular" flour with this product when cooking/baking
Answer: I use it in cookies. When it calls for2cups I use 1 1/2 cups almond flour and 1/2 cups regular flour. They turn out better according to my husband

Super-Fine Almond Flour

Our Super-Fine Almond Flour is made from the finest California-grown almonds, which have been blanched and ground to a fine meal that is ideal for gluten free baking. Baking with almond flour is simple: explore our recipes for dozens of delicious flour recipes, from almond flour pancakes to cookies, coffee cake, quick breads, muffins and more.

Almond flour is also a must-have for paleo and grain free baking recipes.

Vegan Raspberry Macarons Recipe

  • In a small pot over medium-high heat, reduce your aquafaba by half (measure intermittently), then chill overnight in an airtight container
  • The next day, sift together the almond flour, raspberries and powdered sugar. If any large pieces are left behind, use a food processor to grind and sift into the mixture. In a small bowl, whisk together the pink food coloring and 80 grams of aquafaba until combined. Mix the aquafaba into the almond mixture using a spatula and set aside
  • Heat the water and granulated sugar in a small pot until the mixture reaches 230°F
  • While the sugar mixture heats, whisk together 100 grams aquafaba in a stand mixer on high until stiff peaks form. Once the sugar syrup is at 230°F, turn your mixer to low and slowly begin drizzling the syrup down the side of the bowl while the mixer continues to turn. Once all the syrup is added, turn the mixer to high and let it run until the bowl is cool to the touch
  • Once cool, pour the meringue into the bowl with the almond mixture

  • Begin folding together until homogenous: you want the batter to have the consistency of lava pouring off your spatula.
  • Pour your macaron batter into a piping bag and pipe the macarons into similar-size circles on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Tap the baking sheet with force against the counter several times to release any air bubbles. Flatten the tops with a wet finger

  • Preheat the oven to 300°F
  • Let the macaron shells sit on your counter until the tops are dry to the touch, then bake for 10-14 minutes, rotating the pan once midway through cooking
  • Remove from oven and place the parchment on a drying rack. Let cool for 20 minutes before handling and fill with your favorite vegan icing recipe!
