User questions & answers
Question: | is the can bpa free |
Answer: | As of June 2019, the sardines that I received have no heads, no tails, no skin and I did not see any bones (although the bones might be there). They are "all meat" with olive oil. |
Question: | are these the whole fish - with heads, eyes, bones, tails, etc? the description says "whole portions" but just wanted to confirm. thanks |
Answer: | Hello...I was on Wild Planet website and this is the answer they give to explain why they are packaged in Vietnam:The last sardine factory in the U.S. closed in 2010 and there is no tuna cannery capable of processing our volume. Cost of production in the U.S. would also increase the retail price of our products, making them difficult for the average family to afford. In order to support our mission of making sustainable seafood choices mainstream and accessible we have elected to process our albacore and skipjack tuna, as well as our sardines, in a state-of-the-art partner facility in Vietnam. - See more at: http://www.wildplanetfoods.com/faqs/#sthash.jAt8wyNG.dpuf |
Question: | Are they skinless and boneless |
Answer: | 12 |
Question: | It states these are caught off the central California coast; however, the case I Recieved states can and process in Vietman. How does make sense |
Answer: | Our tasty chicken salad includes savory dill relish, crisp celery, red peppers and a unique ingredient—convenience. With under 100 calories per Single Serve Pouch, add it to a salad, sandwich, or enjoy straight from the pouch— just tear, eat and go!™ |

User questions & answers
Question: | I have not been able to find King Oscar sardines in tomato sauce any suggestions |
Answer: | Yes - The only ingredients are tomatos |
Question: | Is the sardine boneless |
Answer: | Unless I'm really wrong, no carbs. |
Question: | Where are they packed |
Answer: | The sodium content is 35 mg per Tablespoon. The package says normal serving size is two tablespoons, but I find that is quite a bit. I use this paste in my cooking and rarely use more than one tablespoon. I make Spaghetti sauce from scratch about 36 ounces at a time and One tablespoon of this tomato paste is perfect for tomato flavor enhancement. The only time I use more is if I have to thicken out a really thin sauce |
Question: | Are the KO Tiny Tots the best ones or are the Crown Prince as small & good? What happened to the KO Extra Smalls? Thank you |
Answer: | Our paste expires Oct of 2016. |

User questions & answers
Question: | are these BPA free cans |
Answer: | They have the King Oscars in tomato now. Have Amazon notify you when they are in stock, if they run out. I really like the Mediterranean style, with sun dried tomato and olives, and they run out of stock occasionally. https://www.amazon.com/King-Oscar-Caught-Sardines-3-75-Ounce/dp/B000MDHHR4?ref_=bl_dp_s_web_3032919011&th=1 |
Question: | Processed in poland but supposedly caught in the pacific ocean? the cost of the logistics makes no sense - anyone able to explain |
Answer: | All brands of canned sardines are only boneless when the container clearly says "Boneless" usually noted boldly as "Skinless and Boneless". |
Question: | what is shelf life |
Answer: | I bought some recently - Nov 2019. Says "Packed in Poland". |
Question: | How many cans are in a unit |
Answer: | The smallest sardines are brisling, and the smallest brislings will be cross-packed. As another indicator of fish size, each tin will usually state the rough # of fish they hold. You will see that cross packed brislings are the smallest sardine packed in at about 30 fish per tin, then two layer packing at around 18 fish per tin, then single layer at about 10, then up to non-brisling single layer from non KO brands which will have like 3 sardines in the same sized tin. |

GOOD FOR MY HEALTH, GOOD FOR MY WELL-BEING
Sardines help our immune system and participate to the good health of our body and mind.
Alpha-linolenic, EPA, DHA, do these names mean anything to you? They are all Omega 3 and our body does not know how to produce them alone.
These essential fatty acids (Omega 3) are vital to the health as they help bolster the immune system by building infection-fighting white blood cells. They are also really useful for heart, growth, and proper brain and eye development during pregnancy and infancy.
But it does not stop there. Sardines contain precious substances essential to our health: proteins, fats and carbohydrates, a winning trio that allows the body to both function and develop. For example, protein is an essential part of everyone’s diet whether you’re six or sixtyas it acts as building blocks for bones, muscles, skin and blood.
GOOD FOR THE PLANET, GOOD FOR PEOPLE
Connetable, strongly committed
We strongly believe that the respect for the environment as well as people must guide our development. That’s why at Connetable those aspects are an integral part of our decision-making process. For example we pay great attention to the recovery of waste generated by our production sites. We implement improvement programs based on the results of audits. Our tins are composed of aluminium, which is a fully recyclable material.
We also follow an energy efficiency improvement program. At Connetable, people are also a priority and we are extremely concerned with the application of decent and respectful working conditions for employees within and beyond our company. This commitment is based on the fisheries conventions of the International LabourOrganization (ILO).
GOOD FOR THE OCEAN, GOOD FOR THE FUTURE
Quality products and preservation of the oceans, a priority
We have always selected our fishes according to criteria corresponding to the specifications of each species while respecting the fundamental principles of sustainable fishing. Now, we reach a further milestone in our engagement with the official recognition of our actions by Bureau Veritas*, an independent body that audits our sourcing. Our approach is based on the 4 pillars of our purchasing policy: marine resource management, product quality, social expectations and transparency, each evaluated through 36 separate criteria. Our purchasing policy requires us, for all our fish procurement, to be above market practices on all these pillars. This official recognition of our Responsible Sourcing policy strengthens our transparency and our long-standing commitment to offer high quality products, that are, both respectful of people and of the Nature.

Question: | Can manafacture check and let us know that the products with exp date 12/31/24, codes bn064ml053 and bn064ml051 are the rottenones, not eatable |
Answer: | You’re comparing Sardines to Mackerel. Season Brand Mackerel is 800mg, while Season Brand Sardines are 1700mg. |
Question: | Are these sardines gutted |
Answer: | We don't add any salt to the Skinless Boneless Sardines in Water. Royal greetings! |
Question: | how many cans to a pack |
Answer: | I've never tried the spring water ones. I really like them in olive oil and it's supposed to be good for the human body. I suspect the OO ones are tastier than the SW ones. |
Question: | Is bisphenol-A simply replaced with a similar chemical like bisphenol-S as some companies dishonestly do? Or did they really do better |
Answer: | The package says “Product of Morocco” and it also says that it was caught on the Atlantic Ocean side. I do not know why this description keeps mentioning Norway and other places. |

User questions & answers
Question: | what are the ingredients |
Answer: | I’ll get to that. Did u realize Amazon doubled the price since Covid Virus? With so many people hungry & poor now...First I’ve heard of them continuing to sell bad or dangerous sardines. Still no customer service...guess it saves them money. |
Question: | Does the nutrition information include consuming the olive oil as well |
Answer: | Honestly gutted doesn't matter here, my May 21,20 order was full of fish scales, fish looked mushy, and smelled bad ! The Best Buy Date was Dec 2024. I tried to post reviews twice with photos, but "they" haven't allowed them to post . Sheesh ! I'm " under the impression" that Season Brand had been around for years, so why has this happened ? I sent a kind and concerned email to the company that someone is trying to ruin their company. No answer yet after 4 days I think it was. To be fair they say they'll answer in 3-5 days. I don't expect one, other recent reviews say they got no answer, only the glowing reviews from 2017 claim they got a swift reply. |
Question: | Can you eat the olive oil that come with it |
Answer: | All these multi-pack are either 4 or 5, this one I think is 5. The way I compare is the $ amount divided by the # of ounces of the pack. Because not every can has the same amount of ounces. |
Question: | Boneless? Spineless |
Answer: | Season brand sardines are usually identified as "BPA-NI," which means that they are not intentionally made with BPA or other bisphenol compounds. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Which is better for my cat and dog? Soybean oil or olive oil |
Answer: | You have a list of ingredients and more information in this link:https://www.amazon.com/Season-Skinless-Boneless-Sardines-3-75-Ounce/dp/B00THGF9A4/ref=pd_sim_325_2?_encoding=UTF8&refRID=YJPX6MRYNE1K6JD315H7&th=1I hope helpful you. |
Question: | Where are these caught? in Morocco or China? Seller please reply |
Answer: | No it does not. It only includes "drained" sardines. If they included the olive oil nobody would buy them because it would more than double the calorie count. Think about 85 grams in a serving size, which includes all the fish. And then there is another 39 grams of something (olive oil) you have to count calories for. That gets tricky because you have to convert a weight-value (grams) into a liquid measure (for olive oil) or you can figure out how many calories 39 grams of olive oil have. I googled "how many calories are in a gram of olive oil" and then multiplied that amount (9) by 39. That was 351. So... you have the 200 calories from the fish PLUS 351 for the oil. That is a H.U.G.E. 551 calories total. |
Question: | What's the difference between these and the crown prince sardines in water |
Answer: | Yes. I add it in with my quinoa, vegetable and Season Sardines. |
Question: | Does anyone know why these are carrying a California Proposition 65 warning |
Answer: | Yes, they are boneless, spineless, skinless and headless and toothless. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this product certified kosher |
Answer: | I buy the Ocean Prince because they are lower in sodium. Ocean Prince is 85mg of sodium and Crown Prince is 150mg. However, looking at the Crown Prince label pictures that they show with the product, one says 85mg and the 2nd one says 150mg. The one time I bought them, the can said 150mg so I switched to Ocean Prince and that can says 85mg. Sodium is important to me because I feed the sardines to my dogs and I need to keep the sodium level to under 100mg. |
Question: | Is the can bpa free |
Answer: | Everything in the world carries a california prop 65 warning |

User questions & answers
Question: | Do these have bone in |
Answer: | Based on the ingredients one would believe so. However they have NOT been certified as Kosher. |
Question: | Why are these more expensive than the 12 packs |
Answer: | This is not in plastic can. |
Question: | Do the sardines have any bones and innards |
Answer: | Water....never soy. If you have to go with an oil, olive is fine. Never soy. Drain the oil either way. The problem with the oil packed is the salt. Always look for a salt free option, your car or dog wouldn't salt its food in the wild, and doesn't require extra salt. If you feed it organ meats, kidneys, liver, and bones (marrow) there is plenty of salts in the diet of your animal. Remember sodium is only ONE essential salt but it must be balanced with other essential salts (or minerals) |
Question: | Can you eat them straight from can |
Answer: | Morocco |

User questions & answers
Question: | How Big Is It |
Answer: | I don't think anyone but the seller is going to be able to answer that pricing question... |
Question: | I'm assuming these are not boneless and skinned. Are the bones very soft or do they crunch |
Answer: | Canned in water are boneless and skinless with heads cut off. |
Question: | what's the expiration date |
Answer: | As this is a product of Morocco, they are harvested in the Mediterranean Sea (Seasons also harvests in the North Atlantic). |
Question: | I am looking for a brand with no BPA in the lining of the can. Cna you verify if these are BPA free |
Answer: | Hi Jason,The side of the box says: "No BPA used in can lining." So you are good to go! These are also sustainably harvested and the product only contains water and fish. I use these to supplement the Omega-3 fatty acids in my homemade dog food, but they really impress me as being a high-quality product. They don't even have a strong smell, and I am a vegetarian and particularly grossed-out by fishy smells. I highly recommend this product! |
