12 best vase for bamboo plant indoor
Selecting an appropriate vase for a bamboo plant, especially when kept indoors, involves considerations for both aesthetic appeal and the well-being of the plant. Here are some aspects to keep in mind:
Material: Choose a vase made from a suitable material. Many bamboo plants are grown in water, so glass or transparent plastic vases are popular choices. These materials allow you to appreciate the plant's roots, creating an attractive visual effect.
Size: The size of the vase should be proportionate to the size of the bamboo plant. Ensure that the vase is large enough to accommodate the roots comfortably and provide stability for the plant.
Shape: Consider the shape of the vase in relation to the bamboo plant. A tall, cylindrical vase works well for lucky bamboo, allowing the plant to grow vertically. For larger bamboo varieties, a wider base may be necessary for stability.
Water Level: Since bamboo plants often grow in water, choose a vase that allows you to maintain an appropriate water level. The roots should be submerged, but there should be enough space to prevent overwatering. Regularly check and replenish the water to keep it clean.
Aesthetics: Consider the overall aesthetic of the indoor space. The vase should complement the interior decor and contribute to the visual appeal of the room. Clear vases can create a modern and clean look, while decorative or colored vases can add a touch of personality.
Stability: Ensure that the vase provides stability for the bamboo plant. This is particularly important for taller plants that may be top-heavy. A stable vase helps prevent the plant from tipping over.
Durability: Choose a vase that is durable and can withstand exposure to water. Glass and certain types of plastic are often good choices for this purpose.
Cleaning: Consider how easy it is to clean the vase. Regular cleaning prevents the growth of algae and keeps the water fresh for the bamboo plant.
Remember that different species of bamboo have specific care requirements, so it's essential to be familiar with the needs of the particular bamboo plant you have. Additionally, always use clean, filtered water to promote the health of the plant.

User questions & answers
Question: | are they good to grow outdoors |
Answer: | These should not be grown outdoors as they need to be rooted in water. They can be in a vase/planter in water with rocks and set on a patio or somewhere with indirect light, but they would not want to be planted outside. Hope this helps! |
Question: | Do the stalks grow taller or just the leaves |
Answer: | i think it's just the part where the leaves are attached. not the main stalk. some will grow new shoots on the main stalk. so the one they are selling is if it says 6" then it is measured from the stalk where the roots are till where it's cut. so the leaves part aren't included with the measurement. some will have 2" or more leaves. sometimes there are two leaves (shoots) on each stalk. |
Question: | will this grow outside in Denver Colorado |
Answer: | Not sure about Colorado, I am in Austin, TX and they grow well. I have mine in pots to keep them from spreading, so they’re easy to bring in and out of the house. They are small (maybe 5 inches), with a sprout at the top. |
Question: | How tall are the stalks |
Answer: | The Stalks are 6 inches tall, not including the height of the leaves. Hope this helps! |

Lucky Bamboo History
For over 4,000 years, lucky bamboo has been considered a symbol of good fortune in Asian cultures. Its natural ability to thrive in a variety of conditions and to adapt to its surroundings is now making this elegant plant a favorite in homes and businesses.
The ancient Chinese practice of Feng Shui, which believes that the balanced of elements will bring harmony to our living environments, values Lucky Bamboo as a perfect element of wood, with its tall, vertical shape and slender leaves. Because Lucky Bamboo has the ability to thrive in most areas of the home or office, where other plants cannot, they are often used to balance the positive flow of energy or “chi” in these areas.
Watering Your Lucky Bamboo
- In areas where water is heavily treated with chlorine or fluoride, the leaves tips or edges of the lucky bamboo may become yellow or brown. Thus, simply allow your water to rest for 24 hours before using, allowing the chlorine and fluoride to dissipate.
Light Conditions
- Lucky bamboo grows naturally under the shady canopies of taller rain forest trees. Thus, perfect conditions for a strong and healthy plant, is an indoor location with no direct sunlight. They will also grow well under artificial lighting, such as in office buildings.
Feeding Your Lucky Bamboo
- Most local water provides no nutrients, the best food for lucky bamboo plants is the use of a very dilute solution of plant food. (Our SUPER GREEN Fertilizer is pre-mixed for Lucky bamboo) Because Lucky bamboo does not use soil to buffer the fertilizer acids and salts, the roots are easily burned if the solution is too strong. (i.e. Diluting Miracle Grow is too strong)

Plant Care Tips
Taking care of bamboo – a bamboo plant grows well in a vase filled with pebbles with an inch of water. A drop of liquid fertilizer once a week will motivate its growth.
Water – Note that the water of the Bamboo Plant should be changed once in every two weeks. Prefers bright and filtered sunlight, avoid placing in a direct sunlight as it will burn the leaves.
Trimming A Lucky Bamboo – cutting the main stalk of the lucky bamboo is not a good idea. You can do the trimming within the offshoots in an inch or two of the main stem. To depress new growth, you can dip the cut end in paraffin.

User questions & answers
Question: | Would they be safe for straw use |
Answer: | They are safe for any gardening use as stakes, as they are just bamboo. Beyond that, we can't comment, so we would not encourage you to assume that they're safe for uses outside their intended use. |
Question: | Does this work to hold up trellis netting |
Answer: | I am sure they would. They are about 1 inch diameter and sturdy. They are natural bamboo and very smooth, so you would need ties, but I think it would work. I used several to make a trellis for some peas and it worked very well. |
Question: | If I were to put these into the ground (like 6 inches or so) would they be sturdy enough to stand up against moderate wind or would they fall over |
Answer: | I will be buying these variety to make a grape trellis and to support raspberry and blackberry brambles. For the raspberry & blackberries I will use 12" inches (1' foot) of the post in the ground to give a sufficient anchor. For the grapes I will use 18" - 24" to support the grapes as the vines get quite heavy. I may do the same for the raspberry & blackberry brambles too (18" - 24") but more for aesthetic reasons. I also have Kiwi vines and they are quite long and haven't made up my mind to build a teepee style arbor with 8' bamboo stakes (18" - 24" ground anchor or a 6' tall teepee arbor) or to build a grape style trellis fence using the 6' bamboo stakes (18" - 24" ground anchor for a 4' tall grape style fence). The grape style trellis fences will use bamboo stakes across too, joined with those heavy duty plastic zip ties (not the cheap trash bag zip ties).I will create the holes to put the bamboo stakes by hammering one of those green metal posts that are used to create chicken yards by hanging chicken wires on them. They are at Lowe's and probably Home Depot's (and probably at Amazon). |
Question: | What is diameter of these stakes? 1/2 inch or 1 inch |
Answer: | The 6 foot ones were between 3/8" and 1/2" in diameter |

(Our SUPER GREEN Fertilizer is pre-mixed for Lucky bamboo) Because Lucky bamboo does not use soil to buffer the fertilizer acids and salts, the roots are easily burned if the solution is too strong. (i.e. Diluting Miracle Grow is too strong)

User questions & answers
Question: | Does it any rocks at the bottom? I thought it just set in water |
Answer: | It is just 4 stalks in water. Very tight fit. 1 of my stalks died. I removed it and put in tiny pebbles to hold the other 3 in place. 2 of the other stalks now have baby shoots coming out of them. So it grows if you water it and it has room to expand. |
Question: | What are the care instructions? Thanks |
Answer: | Fill the pot or container with fresh, distilled or bottled water. If you use tap water, allow it to sit overnight so the chlorine can evaporate before using it on the plant. Change the water once a week, and ensure that there is always at least 1 inch of water in the container or vase. |
Question: | Do you put some sort of soul at the bottom |
Answer: | OK, at the risk of sounding stupid, do I take the plastic and the rubber bands off as well? |
Question: | What is the Dimension of stalks |
Answer: | The width of each stalk is about 1/2 inch, the length of the stalks when it arrives I'm not sure, I didn't measure them when I first got the plant, but I would guess about 7 inches. I've had my plant for over two years now and the highest stalk is 14 inches, it's still going strong. Mine came with 10 stalks, but I'm not sure if it varies. |
