User questions & answers
Question: | Need clairty: r the almonds from italy or us? r they unpasturized & organic? do u sell organic spanish almonds? do u guarantee freshness |
Answer: | Thank you for displaying your interest in our product. Our Organic Almonds are from Italy. |
Question: | What country are these grown in |
Answer: | Yes, truly raw. |
Question: | Are these truly unpasteurized? Pasterization is required in the states |
Answer: | Hello! Thank you for the question! Yes, these Raw Organic Almonds are sproutable. If you have any other questions, feel free to contact us! Have a great day! |
Question: | Are these nuts suitable for sprouting |
Answer: | Two types of almond trees exist. One produces a sweet nut, the other a bitter, inedible nut. Sweet almonds, pose no cyanide risk. However, bitter almonds contain cyanide-like toxins, which act as natural pesticides. Bitter almond is only available as oil and extracts, after it has been processed to remove toxic substances." (source: http://www.livestrong.com/article/494578-can-almonds-cause-cyanide-poisoning/)So, no, there is no cyanide in these almonds, as they are the "sweet" type, not the "bitter" type. By the way, for what it is worth, I have a very fragile constitution with many food allergies and troubles that pop up if I don't watch what I eat. However, I can eat these almonds until I'm stuffed with absolutely no side-effects whatsoever. As long as a person is not specifically allergic to almonds, I'd say they can eat as many as they want! |

Appreciate the Fruits of Almond Trees
Organic Almonds are the most popular nuts in the US, topping even peanuts as the #1 snack. According to statistics, the Americans of today eat 10 times as many almonds as they did in 1965, and we seem to be growing fonder of them with every passing year.
It’s really not surprising considering the benefits of Organic Аlmonds as well as their delicious taste. There are hundreds of fantastic Organic Almond recipes to explore, and it’s even without considering the many uses of almond milk, butter, and meal.
Food To Live Organic Almonds are grown in the US and processed at a facility that meets the stringent health and safety standards set by the American laws.
Are Organic Almonds Really Nuts?
People are used to thinking that Organic almonds are nuts as they are always sold together with these foods. However, botanically, Organic almonds are fruits from the almond tree.
There are over 3,000 million tons of Organic almonds grown in the world every year and America is proud to be the leading supplier of this extraordinary fruit on the planet. Sadly, in 2015 the rate of the California Organic almonds production has gone down due to various environmental problems. However, the farmers are recovering fast and producing more precious nuts to meet the ever growing demand for this delicious food.
Health Benefits of Organic Almonds
Organic Almonds contain large amounts of vitamin E, one of the most important and efficient antioxidants.
Organic Almonds: Nutritional Value
When it comes to snacking on Organic almonds, nutrition should be the first thing on your mind as they give you quite a few of the nutrients that should be included in a healthy diet. 3.5 ounces of the buttery-flavored nuts give you all the copper you need to consume in a day and an equal amount of manganese.
- Phosphorus
- Magnesium
- Calcium
- Iron
- Zinc
- Selenium
The first three of them are vitally important for the health. Iron is another major issue for vegans and vegetarians. However, a deficiency in this particular element is quite common even among meat-eaters. Most people consider leafy greens to be the best source of iron among plant foods. However, Organic almonds give you over 45% of the daily required dose in every 3.5 ounces.

User questions & answers
Question: | country of origin |
Answer: | Pasteurization became required in California (produces 99% of all U.S. almonds and approx 90% worldwide) in 2007 following two salmonella outbreaks tied back to almonds. Pasteurization kills all mold, eggs, larvae and pretty much everything else associated with salmonella and similar. You can get non-pasteurized but then you are taking that risk, albeit a small one. The more important item is the method of pasteurization - steam, treated with PPO (propylene oxide) or irradiation. You would want to look for steam (if you would not be looking at unpasteurized). Many mfgs would tout steam and so if it is not mentioned as such - I would be suspicious and at least ask the mfg. I believe I recall seeing that an 'organic' label would mean it has to be steam pasteurized versus the other two. |
Question: | How can you say they are raw when they are pasteurized |
Answer: | Yes, I was curious also, so I purchased these almonds. After soaking for 24 hours, most did have little "nubs" starting to grow, so they are "enzyme activated." In theory, steam pasteurization does not (usually?) kill the seeds. All almonds sold in US stores from US farmers are pasteurized. You can only get them unpasteurized if you buy directly from the farmer (which is possible.) Strangely, imported almonds don't have to be pasteurized. You will usually find raw unpasteurized almonds originate from Spain. But you can get them from USA if you know where to go - some farmers will sell directly to the public. |
Question: | have anyone succeeded to sprout these almonds? thanks |
Answer: | This is not certified organic by USA "seal" standards only. These are SPANISH ALMONDS, imported from Spain. Therefore, they are NOT subject to USDA rules and regulations and also, therefore, not subject to the USDA seal as PROOF of their organic-ness (sp). But! Before you shrink away in HORROR, remember this. The fact that they are SPANISH not American almonds is a GOOD thing, because imported almonds are not subject to pasteurization. Spanish almonds do not have to be either Steam pasteurized to 200 degrees (which destroys a portion of the almonds wonderful nutrients) nor are they gassed by what is essentially poisonous fumigation as the alternation version of pasteurization that the delightful USDA requires to be perpetrated on all American almonds that are packaged and sold in the USA (the only exception being buying directly from California raw almond growers). Other then these details I have just given you, what you are left with is trust. At some point, all of us have to trust. I have bought 3 bags of these almonds, and other than the occasional bitter almond (which you just spit out, and I've only had about 5 bitter almonds per 2 lb bag on average) you have yourself an unpasteurized almond, with nutrients retained. That is worth the small risk I take when I trust that Spanish almonds really ARE organic. One more suggestion I would make, and that is to SOAK the almonds. Their is phytic acid (a natural protection of the plant, not a human induced chemical) that, if you remove by soaking, will give you enriched, enlivened and activated vitamins that are not able to be accessed by the body without soaking. If you want to know more about "soaking", how to do it, why it's important, you can find numerous articles, blogs and websites on the matter on Google. I always soak and dehydrate (dry) all my Spanish almonds for best nutrition. I find them to be so much more tasty than any American pasteurized almond. I hope this elongated answer (I try to thorough) has helped you! Blessings... |
Question: | Is this certified organic? If so, where's the USDA organic seal? In other words, how do we know this is truly organic |
Answer: | These Almonds come from Italy. They are unpasteurized and organic. This product comes from Italy, it is not pasteurized and truly raw. Organic almonds are not pasteurized, however they are steamed at 40C to be de-shelled. We do not sell Spanish almonds. We do guarantee freshness. |

- Slivered Almonds are also better to use in recipes because the skins can detach during the cooking process and affect both the texture and the flavor of the dish. You can start by making your own almond milk and butter. Both will be nutritious and rich in fiber, as well as vitamins E and B.

Why is Consuming Blanched Almonds Beneficial For You
- Whole Blanched Almonds from Food To Live are an extremely versatile ingredient that you can use to cook a whole range of sweet and savory dishes. Having a less bitter taste than unblanched almonds, these nuts make an excellent snack which can be enjoyed by anyone.
- Whole Blanched Almonds are peeled almonds which are made by removing this skin through exposing the nut to hot and then cold temperatures. It is true that blanching requires an additional processing step, but it has very little effect on the actual nutritional value of the nut. The blanched variety is milder and creamier. It is also better to use in recipes because the skins can detach during the cooking process and affect both the texture and the flavor of the dish.
- Whole Blanched Almonds are a great snack all on their own, and you can make them even tastier if you toast the nuts and toss them in olive oil with some spices. You can start by making your own almond milk and butter. Both will be nutritious and rich in fiber, as well as vitamins E and B.
- Grind Whole Blanched Almonds in a coffee grinder or a food processor to make an almond meal which can be used in baking or in making raw treats, such as energy balls. You can even add it to smoothies for fiber and protein.
- Don’t forget that you can use almonds in salads, curries, and even some exotic stir-fry recipes too. They also make for a fantastic ingredient in desserts and homemade sweets and chocolates.

What Makes Our Almonds Unique
We are a multi-generational farm company. Our almond acreage is situated on the finest almond ground in the world, located in East Stanislaus County, with its nutrient rich, prolific soils and ideal almond growing climate. It has exceptional access to some of the purest and most pristine water known to man originating from the Sierra Nevada snowpack in Yosemite National Park. In fact, our property has been archived as one of the first almond ranches in California.
We developed a highly proprietary, proven and patent pending technology. Our nuts taste different due to our multi-layered proprietary farming technologies which begin by requiring over 10 years to convert the orchard to our Wild Soil brand platform. Our orchards are grown in virgin soils utilizing our Wild Soil brand proprietary technology, the way our forefathers farmed pre-1920. Our soil’s health and biodiversity is proven and can be independently verified. Because of the extreme vitality and diversity of the soil our almonds contain superior taste and nutritional qualities as well. Our almonds undergo proprietary testing, proving their content of naturally occurring prebiotics and probiotics. No other grower farms the way we do.

Conventional Sterile Almond Orchard vs. Wild Soil Almond Orchard
Our almond trees grow in newly virgin soil which was restored in part by supplying proprietary, organic compost. We use our own proprietary methods for monitoring microbial diversity and rejecting any compost or other inputs that do not meet our farming standards.
By focusing on protecting the soil biome we protect our customers and the environment.
Wild Soil brand farming methods were developed after more than a generation of trials and testing by a research group comprised of a consortium of subject matter experts in diverse disciplines including soil science, microbiology, human pathology and immunology. Several of these experts are among the top in the world in their field. These researchers obtained their PhDs/studies/residencies at the following institutions: Harvard, Yale, University of Pennsylvania, and St. Louis University.

Product description
Organic Blanched Slivered Almonds are very easy to use in cooking a variety of dishes because of their taste and shape. They are as delicious and nutritious as whole nuts. Organic Slivered Almonds are a good source of iron, calcium, and vitamin E.
Raw Organic Slivered Almonds cut into tiny slivers by using a specialized machine. The nuts are blanched to remove their bitter skins before cutting. Furthermore, they need to be heated up to about 160F, which is necessary to make almonds pliable, so they don’t break when cut.
But note that this type of processing doesn’t affect the nutritional value of almonds by much. Therefore, organic slivered almonds are as good an addition to your meals as whole nuts.
How to Eat Organic Blanched Slivered Almonds
Organic slivered almonds make a great snack anytime you need a power boost. They also go well with morning granola or oatmeal. Because of the handy shape, these almonds are easy to use in salads and even dishes like curry.
You can eat raw organic slivered almonds just as they come from Food To Live. However, if you want to enhance the flavor and aroma, you should toast them in the oven for about 3-5 minutes.
Heat the oven to 350F.
In the meantime, spread almond slivers in a thin layer over a baking pan covered with waxed paper.
Let your organic slivered almonds toast for 3 minutes at first. Remove the pan and stir the nut slivers well. Put them back into the oven for a couple of minutes. Observe them to prevent burning.
- EASY TO USE ALMONDS: Organic Blanched Slivered Almonds are a perfect ingredient to use in many dishes.
- NUTRITIOUS SNACK: You can eat Raw Organic Slivered Almonds right from the pack to get a snack that gives you a boost of fiber, calcium, and iron.

Roasted natural almonds indeed lose a little bit of their nutritional value. However, they are still packed with all those useful nutritious elements. And as these are Organic Dry Roasted Almonds, they don’t contain added fats. But roasting does enhance its flavor. It means that you get a nutritious and more delicious snack compared to regular raw almonds.
These are Organic Crunchy Almonds because roasting adds crunch along with enhancing the flavor and aroma of natural nut oils.
