Chinese teas have a rich and diverse history, with a wide range of varieties that cater to various tastes and preferences. Here's an overview of Chinese teas, including some popular types:

  1. Green Tea: China is famous for its green teas, which are known for their fresh, grassy flavors and numerous health benefits. Some well-known Chinese green teas include Longjing (Dragon Well), Biluochun, and Gunpowder tea.

  2. Black Tea: Black tea is fully oxidized, resulting in a robust flavor and dark color. Chinese black teas include Keemun, Dianhong (Yunnan Red), and lapsang souchong, known for its smoky aroma.

  3. Oolong Tea: Oolong teas are partially oxidized, falling somewhere between green and black teas in terms of flavor and color. Tie Guan Yin and Da Hong Pao are famous Chinese oolongs, prized for their complex flavors.

  4. White Tea: White tea is minimally processed, with a delicate flavor profile and subtle sweetness. Baihao Yinzhen (Silver Needle) and Bai Mudan (White Peony) are well-known Chinese white teas.

  5. Pu-erh Tea: Pu-erh is a fermented tea known for its earthy, aged flavor. It comes in two main types: sheng (raw) and shou (cooked). Pu-erh is often compressed into cakes or bricks for aging.

  10. Regional Variations: Different regions in China are known for specific tea varieties due to variations in climate, soil, and cultivation techniques. For example, Fujian Province is renowned for its oolong teas, while Yunnan Province is known for its Pu-erh teas.

  11. Caffeine Levels: The caffeine content in Chinese teas varies. Green teas generally have lower caffeine levels compared to black or Pu-erh teas. However, the caffeine content can also depend on factors like the tea's quality and brewing time.

  12. Tea Accessories: Chinese tea culture includes a wide range of tea accessories, including tea trays, tea utensils, and special cups designed for specific types of tea.

In summary, Chinese teas offer a diverse range of flavors and aromas, with each type offering a unique experience. User questions & answers

Question: What is the manufacture date and/or expiration date? thank you
Answer: There are 12 different teas so each of them may have a different production date. We seek to ensure that our tea is fresh but it does have a very long shelf life. Actually, putting a "use by" date on tea is really just 'cause people expect one. Tea really stays good for a very long time and some of it is considered "better" when it is aged such as the pu-erh which is a deliberately aged tea. Becky for Solstice Tea Traders
Question: Curious if the tins lids are friction fit, or if they thread/screw on? Weird question I know, just thinking of how I can reuse the packaging
Answer: The lids are the slip-on style (friction fit) not the screw on style. Becky for Solstice
Question: Can I buy the Magnolia Oolong separately
Answer: No idea

User questions & answers

Question: I found the Irish to have a fishy flavor - anyone else get that
Answer: No. Have you had your taste buds checked? Perhaps the water you used to prepare the tea or wash the cup/pot the tea was prepared in?
Question: Are these tea bags or loose teas
Answer: I have experience with the 50 and 100 count packages of English Breakfast. Both are bagged tea, but the 100 count are each individually wrapped in a paper/foil pack. The 50 count is bags, loose in the container. Actually two bags connected by a thin perforation. The 50 count are perfect for using in a pot. The bags are full sized, and two bags will make four cups of strong tea. I use three bags per four cups, but I like it strong enough to stand up without a cup. The 100 count are not only annoying to unwrap each bag if you're using multiples in a pot, but they're also not as large (and more powdery). They make one cup each bag, and no more,. I really wish they sold the 50 style packaging in a larger bulk count.
Question: what flavors of tea are offered in this variety box
Answer: I just opened it, it has: Descaffeinated breakfast tea Green tea jasmine Lemon & orange tea Organic charmomile Earl grey tea Organic peppermint English breakfast tea Assam tea Box looks really pretty it has 6 bags of each.
Question: Is the box wood or cardboard
Answer: The gift box is made of cardboard. I found it to be very presentable. I gave it as a gift. I have been drinking Taylors of Harrogate teas for many years. Ever since my son gave me the gift of a box of Yorkshire Tea he picked up while on a business trip to London. I order my Taylors of Harrogate teas from Amazon. A similar box with eight compartments made of wood would cost an additional $20 to $30 depending on the type of wood. I recently gave a gift and the single compartment cedar wood "rustic presentation box" cost 6.95 pounds (about $11.47). When I gave this gift I was thinking of giving quality teas not a wood box.

Who We Are

We've had a deep fascination with flavor for 130 years – and we believe you can taste the difference.

We’re a UK independent family tea company and our story starts back in 1886. We have strong family values and a love for fairness, quality, creativity and treating our partners and suppliers with respect.

We re-invest part of our profits in community and environmental projects, to make a continued difference to the quality of our tea and to the lives of the people who grow it.

Our teas and infusions stand on the shoulders of more than a century of tea-making history and passion. And we're completely, utterly devoted to the pursuit of extraordinary flavor.

Giving Back

Taylors is committed to supporting people and planet, both in the Yorkshire region where we’re based and in our global tea and coffee supply chain. We see investment in community and environmental projects as critical to support our long term future, and work to grow strong, lasting relationships, sometimes over decades, to make a continued difference to the quality of our teas and to the lives of the people who grow them.

Our team of tea and coffee buyers spend many months a year overseas so we see firsthand the difference we’re making to the communities we rely on for our tea and coffee. It’s not always easy and many of the challenges within our global supply chain are deep-rooted and complex, but we’re proud of our commitment, the progress made so far, and deeply grateful for the on-going support and commitment we receive from suppliers and partners.

Taylors Sourcing Approach

(TSA) is our model for how we buy our tea and coffee. Rather than simply ‘buying a commodity’, TSA is a way of buying which allows us to build the supply chain we want and need for the future. At its heart is a commitment to put our values at the center of how we buy, underpinned by long-term relationships with key strategic suppliers.

The Environment

By reducing our environmental impacts, both within our own operations and our supply chain, and by planting trees and supporting other carbon capture and reduction projects, we’re working towards making our tea and coffee range ‘carbon neutral’.

Improving Livelihoods

The tea and coffee sector is highly dependent on the smallholders who grow 80% of the world’s coffee and 70% of global tea production. Decreasing farm size, access to and cost of soil inputs, rudimentary farming methods, lack of investment in infrastructure and increasingly unpredictable weather and patterns, are all impacting on smallholders’ ability to make a living.

Resilient Communities

We’re committed to ensuring the communities in which our suppliers, smallholders and workers are based are resilient and sustainable for the future. Together with our key suppliers, we work to understand the challenges their communities face and support projects and initiatives to address them. These vary in scale and reach, from small timebound partnerships with suppliers, to significant industry collaborations.

The Tao of Tea, Black Dragon Oolong Tea, Loose Leaf, 3.5 Ounce Tin

The Tao of Tea

Based on 799 reviews Check latest price

Product description

Our Black Dragon tea comes from the famous oolong producing area of Anxi in Fujian, China. Anxi oolongs are also sometimes referred to as “Se Zhong,” meaning a blend of several oolongs. The processing of this tea is quite similar to that of the popular Tieguanyin oolong style.

Oolong teas range in their flavor and color from light green to dark. Usually, color indicates the level of oxidization in the tea leaves, and tea merchants sometimes refer to percentages of oxidation to indicate where on the spectrum their oolong falls. Low (5% to 25%) oxidized teas are more green. Black Dragon is a somewhat darker, 40% oxidized oolong. The leaves are tightly rolled into small pellets. When infused, the leaves unfold into their original state and provide many infusions.

  • Ingredients: Oolong Tea Leaves.
  • Toasted aroma with a sweet, strong, grain aftertaste.

User questions & answers

Question: Can anyone testifies about loosing weight drinking this tea
Answer: No wait loss, bought because it is delicious and soothing
Question: How many cups
Answer: You can make 2 cups (8 oz.) with 1 teaspoon and you can steep the leaves twice so i would say it could make around 100. Maybe more.
Question: Is the item durable
Answer: It's OK. I generally use tea for 3 times. First time, soak in hot water for 10 sec to rinse out any "dirty" stuff in tea. Dump the first part. Then soak tea in hot water (about 90 degree Celsius) second time for about 1 min, and enjoy the tea (This should be the best part of the tea). Third extraction would be about 3 -5 min. And enjoy it.
Question: Where is this tea grown
Answer: According to the Tao of Tea’s webiste, it comes from Anxi, Fujian, China. https://taooftea.com/product/black-dragon/
