What are Shirataki Konjac Noodles?

As you may guess from the name, shirataki noodles originated in Japan. They are made from the Konjac root, also called White Yam or Devil’s Tongue. They have a gelatinous texture and are a good source of the dietary fiber Glucomannan.

To make the noodles, the Glucomannan fiber is extracted from the Konjac root and mixed with water and limewater. This creates a gelatinous substance called konnyaku which is made into noodle-like or rice-like substances.

The finished noodles are 97% water and 3% indigestible fiber, making it a zero calorie noodle.

These noodles have gained the nickname “Miracle Noodles,” and are completely paleo and calorie-free.

They have virtually no taste on their own but have a slight fish-like smell when packaged wet. This is due to the water they are packaged in and can be easily rinsed off.

Answer:	I do exactly that 3 or 4 times a day and being diabetic it helps me with slowing meal digestion. I bought some plastic cups and spoons at Sam's club because this stuff can be a pain to wash out of cups and you should not run it down the drain as it will stick to the pipes. I only need one new cup and spoon each day and keep my jar by the sink. I drink it about 15 minutes before each meal (not with medications or vitamins) and find that works fine. I measure out the powder, fill with cool water which slows gelling, stir and drink immediately then fill the cup again, swirl and drink that. This method allows the gel to form a "pancake" in the bottom of my stomach. I also have mixed it into foods quite well but you have to be careful not to overdo it because it can get too thick. I also take my 4th dose in the evening prior to my usual few squares of dark chocolate just as a precaution.
