Panasonic, DVD Recorder/ VCR Combo,DV Input
The Panasonic DMR-ES35VS brings together a VCR and multi-format DVD recorder, enabling you to continue to enjoy your VHS video tape library as well as record TV programming and home videos directly to DVD disc. It includes easy-to-use front panel controls as well as an S-Video/composite AV input for connecting gaming consoles and video camcorders. This unit provides easy, one-touch copying of non-copy protected DVD disc material to VHS tape, and vice versa--great for archiving your old home videos. It also offers a FireWire port (also known as IEEE1394 or i.Link) for direct connection to a digital video camcorder, enabling you to download footage directly to disc.
Choose from a full spectrum of recordable DVD media--write-once DVD+R and DVD-R discs or rewritable DVD-RW/+RW and DVD-RAM discs. (For temporary storage, such as your favorite weekly shows, DVD-RAM discs are a great choice as they can be rewritten more times than DVD-RW/+RW discs.) In addition to standard DVD movie and CD audio discs and its compatible recordable formats, the DMR-ES25S can play back CD-R/RW, dual layer DVD-R/+R, and VCD disc formats as well as JPEG, and MP3 digital formats.
Panasonic's Time Slip function consists of two features designed to give you added flexibility and control when making DVD recordings: Chasing Playback and Simultaneous Record & Play. With Chasing Playback, you don't have to wait for an entire program to be recorded before watching it from beginning to end. This feature allows you to watch a program that's currently being recorded from any point that's already been recorded--while continuing to record the live program in progress. Simultaneous Record & Play allows you to record a program onto a disc while simultaneously watching any other program that's previously been recorded on the same disc.
You can set your recorder to one of five different recording speeds, each varying in recording quality and length. EP mode yields the most recording time, LP & SP modes provide less recording time with higher quality recording, and XP mode gives you the highest quality recording. There's also the FR (Flexible Recording) mode that lets you record with the best picture quality possible for the recording time and remaining space on the disc.
The Direct Navigator feature makes it easy to find a previously recorded program on a disc. A list of recording dates, times, channels and (user-entered) titles are shown on screen. With the Playlist Playback function, you can perform simple non-linear video editing using, such as rearranging the order of scenes, skipping over unwanted scenes, or copying selections
Jump directly to any spot on a disc and begin playback or recording right away with the Rapid Random Access function when using DVD-RAM discs. Even if there is no sequential area of empty space available, this DVD recorder can record data on available space throughout the rest of the disc. You will also avoid searching for a blank spot to start recording, or accidentally recording over desired material.

Tech Talk
Component video (also called Y/Pb/Pr) features a three-jack video input, which provides separate connections for luminance (Y), blue color difference (PB) and red color difference (PR). This results in increased bandwidth for color information, resulting in a more accurate picture with clearer color reproduction and less bleeding than you would get with S-Video or composite (RCA yellow video plug) connections. You will need a separate RCA left/right audio cable for sound.

User questions & answers
Question: | Does the panasonic dmr-es35vs dvd recorder / vcr combo with dv input have the hard disk drive |
Answer: | There might be some generic scrubby pads sold here on Amazon but the only place I've seen the real/authentic Bissell pads sold not in the mixed sets is on the Bissell website. I know you can buy just the scrubby pads there, individually. However, one pad costs almost as much as buying the set of 2 different pads. I wish they would offer a set that included just the scrubby pads... or a set that included 2 (or 3) the soft pads because for my floors, I prefer the soft pads over the scrubby type.Anyway, here's the link for Powerfresh parts/pads if you are interested:https://www.bissell.com/powerfresh-steam-mop-hard-floor-steam-cleaner-1940/parts?utm_source=legacyredirect&utm_medium=legacyredirect&utm_campaign=%2fpowerfresh-steam-mop-hard-floor-cleaner-1940%2fparts |
Question: | I bought one of these (Panasonic DMR ES35V) at a garage sale, no manuel included. Where can I go to print off a user manuel |
Answer: | Whenever it is on, there is hot steam coming through the bottom, so it's probably not a good idea to let it sit in one spot on the floor for too long. I think the maximum time is 30 seconds (it gives the exact time in the instructions). To prevent any floor damage, I would lean it against something at an angle so the pad is not flat on the floor surface. Or unplug it, which turns it off. Good luck! |
Question: | how do you order the remote # dmr- es35 only |
Answer: | Yes they wash really well I just put them in the washer with my other cleaning towels I use oxyclean and detergent but no softener. I haven't had it long enough to show any wear. I bought extra pad when I purchased the machine so I always have a clean pad. Jo Ann |
Question: | Can i record vhs tapes right to a sd card with this model |
Answer: | Hi - I think the reason the suggest that is they have a very rough surface, good for cleaning but also collects lint from your other clothes. I found that these get very dirty and require an extra amount of hand scrubbing before i put them in the washing machine. I spray them with Resolve, and then scrub them on a washboard or with a dish brush and then wash them seperately. I have washed them with other things, but as i suggest they collect a lot of fibers from other items in the wash. This is a great machine for cleaning floors, even the "smell good" pellets are great. One suggestion, don't buy a lot of backup pellets as the ones that come with the machine will last you many cleanings, if you remove them before washing. This is my 5+ Star cleaning machine, it is even better than when i first reviewed it. I did order additional pads so that i had at least 2 to 3 for the whole house. I have 1400 sq feet of ceramic tile. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does it play svhs tapes |
Answer: | Hi, you can connect the yellow white red RCA jacks of your TV OUT (or a cable box OUT) to this recorder's yellow white red INPUT with a simple composite a/v cable. If there is only audio, the DVD recorder will record audio only. Keep in mind this records on a blank DVD+/-R or DVD-RW/+RW, or DVD-RAM disc, but it cannot record audio onto a CD-R. Please check out our listing for this product at www.amazon.com/shops/home_theater_deals |
Question: | I want to simply transfer my old VHS tapes to DVD. Will this work |
Answer: | Hi, YES, this model does take the DVD-RAM Cartridges. If you are interested in this item and buy the new one we have listed on Amazon at our storefront (Home_Theater_Deals), I will include a FREE NEW DVD-RAM cartridge for you , thanks for asking! |
Question: | How do you know if all the finctions like editing, finalizing and scheduling work if you don't have a remote to test them |
Answer: | This unit can play and record VHS tapes, up to T-160, and S-VHS with some limitations. |
Question: | Will this unit work with antenna on digital channels ie- 4.1, 4.2 etc |
Answer: | I am not certain what "turn off the TV guide" means to you. Somewhat related to the TV Guide functionality of this recorder, I found it necessary "To return the channel settings and clock to the factory preset (No setting)" in a pre-owned unit so that I could set the clock to my local time. The instruction for this is given on page 85 of the Operating Instructions: "Press and hold [CH, W] and [CH, X] on the main unit for about 5 seconds. (Current channel line-up and program listings are cleared.)" This eliminated any further interference of the TV Guide functions with what I need and want to do. |

Amazon.com Product Description Panasonic's DMR-E55S DVD player/recorder grants unprecedented recording time on double-sided 9.4 GB recordable DVDs--up to 16 hours, or 8 hours per side (and on standard 4.7 GB discs, in EP mode). The DMR-E55S's joint support of DVD-RAM and DVD-R media provides the best of both worlds: DVD-R for the highest compatibility (letting you share video recordings with virtually anyone with a DVD player) and DVD-RAM (for rewritability and benefits like TimeSlip, chasing playback, and simultaneous play and record). DVD-RAM offers the perfect method for recording and rerecording favorite programs--over 100,000 times on the same disc. Using DVD-RAM, you can also edit your videos on a multi-media computer with video editing/production software.
You can take DVD-RAM discs out of their protective cartridges and play them on PCs equipped with a 4.7 GB/9.4 GB DVD-RAM drive or DVD-ROM drive that's compatible with 4.7 GB/9.4 GB DVD-RAM. With instant recording onto a DVD disc, there's no need to have to find blank space, as with a VHS tape. Just press record and the unit will automatically find space on the disc, much like a computer's disk drive. Panasonic's Time Slip feature lets you replay a scene recorded earlier while a program is still in progress, without disrupting the recording process. And chasing playback lets you watch from the beginning a show whose recording is still in progress.
You can easily transfer your favorite VHS tape recordings to space-saving discs. Personal movie libraries and family videos can be archived, preserved, easily cataloged and accessed, and even edited right from the disc.
Input TBC (time base corrector) removes jitter from the input signal, while 3D Y/C separation circuitry precisely separates the luminance (Y) and chrominance (C) portions of the video signal to minimize dot crawl and color smearing caused by interference between the video signal's Y and C color subcomponents. These functions are particularly effective when recording from analog video sources such as a conventional VCR and camcorder. Combined with the 3D DNR applied during playback, the result can be a surprising restoration of image quality from old videocassettes.

As a player, the DMR-E55K offers a progressive-scan video output for optimum picture quality when viewing a DVD movie on a high-definition or HD-ready TV. With standard interlaced signals (480i), it takes two passes to build one frame of video: first the even scan lines, then the odd. Progressive scanning doubles the scan lines of an interlaced signal by scanning all 525 lines in 1/60 of a second for each full pass. The higher-density video signal creates film-like DVD images with rich detail, extraordinary depth of field, and precise color reproduction.
Connections include component-, composite-, and S-video outputs, multiple composite- and S-video inputs, an optical digital-audio output for surround-sound passthrough to a compatible (Dolby Digital/DTS 5.1) audio/video surround receiver, and RCA stereo analog audio inputs.
What's in the Box
DVD player/recorder, remote control, remote batteries, user's manual, and a stereo analog audio interconnect/composite-video cable.

User questions & answers
Question: | DOES IT HAVE A TUNER TO HOOK TO CABLE WITH NO BOX |
Answer: | Yes of course. Not Blu ray though |
Question: | Can i record to a dvd shows from my dvr |
Answer: | Thanks for asking, if you buy from our storefront the unit will come with a 45 day warranty starting at th delivery date. If it is a new unit it should come with a 1 year warranty from Panasonic but since it's a model that was discontinued more than 5 years ago I'm not sure how they handle the manufacturers warranty so if you need more warranty you can also get a third part warranty on Amazon through a third party like Square Trade. Hope that helps answer your question- |
Question: | Does the above model dmr-e55s record direct from the tvs? (as opposed to |
Answer: | Yes. It will finalize. |
Question: | does it have HDMI |
Answer: | No, there is no internal tuner but it does have the ability to "learn" the channels you receive if you receive analog television signals (what used to be called "over-the-air" stations, but which now require a converter box). So, if you do NOT have cable, satellite, or similar television service (e.g., AT&T U-Verse), this model will allow you to enter each station you receive, assign it to a station number that corresponds to the internal VCR+ system, and even give it a name of your own choosing. If that sounds tedious to you, your understanding is correct. On the other hand, if you have a cable, satellite, or similar system, you connect the television cable to one of the recorder's input lines and then tell it to record from the appropriate input source (Line 1, Line 2, etc.). For example, you might connect Line 1 to your satellite box for recording television from your satellite system, connect Line 2 to your old VCR for burning videotapes onto DVDs, and so on. In any case, though, you will be designating the input source by its line number not by a television station number, as you would with a recorder that used an internal tuner. You can, of course, record live (i.e., as the television show or other input is running), or program it to record at some day/time in the future. Programming and general use of the machine is quite intuitive, that whole VCR+ system notwithstanding.Quality of the recordings is quite good.I hope this information helps. |

Panasonic, DVD Recorder, DV Input, HDMI, SD Card Slot
Record your home movies and your favorite TV programs easily to DVD disc with the Panasonic DMR-ES25S progressive scan recorder/player, which provides ultimate flexibility in recording media options. It also includes an HDMI digital audio/video output, which can "up-convert" standard DVD movie discs to near HD resolution. Where standard DVD players (even progressive scan models) provide just 480 lines of resolution, the DMR-ES25S up-converts the picture up to 720p and 1080i high-def video formats--taking full advantage of your HD television's sparkling resolution. (Note that your TV must have an HDMI connection; HDMI cable not included.)
Choose from a full spectrum of recordable DVD media--write-once DVD+R and DVD-R discs or rewritable DVD-RW/+RW and DVD-RAM discs. (For temporary storage, such as your favorite weekly shows, DVD-RAM discs are a great choice as they can be rewritten more times than DVD-RW/+RW discs.) It's easy to record TV programming with the built-in analog TV tuner with RF pass-through and seven-day TV Guide electronic programming guide. In addition to standard DVD movie and CD audio discs and its compatible recordable formats, the DMR-ES25S can play back CD-R/RW, dual layer DVD-R/+R, and VCD disc formats as well as JPEG, and MP3 digital formats. You can also view individual images and photo slideshows using the integrated Secure Digital (SD) memory card slot (compatible with JPEG and TIFF file formats).
Enjoy a great picture on you flat screen LCD or plasma HDTV using the component video output, and immersive surround sound via the optical digital audio output for Dolby Digital and DTS home theater effects. It also offers a FireWire port (also known as IEEE1394 or i.Link) for direct connection to a digital video camcorder, enabling you to download footage directly to disc. The full lineup of video and audio connections includes:
- RF Input: 1
- Composite video/audio input: 2 (1 front)
- Composite video/audio output: 1
- S-Video input: 2 (1 front)
- S-Video output: 1

Tech Talk
HDMI is a lossless, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface to link any audio/video source (such as a set-top box, DVD player, or AV receiver) with your TV--all over a single cable. It provides up to a 5 GB per second bandwidth for transmitting pure digital video and audio signals with no degradation in the transfer. It can carry up to eight discrete audio channels, making it compatible with 7.1-channel surround sound systems. Signals are encrypted with HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) to prevent recording. HDMI is fully backward-compatible with most DVI connections .
High Definition Formats: The most common high-def (HD) video format is 720p, which displays video at 720 vertical by 1280 horizontal pixels. The "p" denotes that it is progressive scan, meaning that all video lines are filled at the same time. The 1080i format displays video at 1080 vertical by 1920 horizontal pixels, and the "i" means that it is interlaced (the old-school way of presenting video where the screen scans the odd-numbered video lines first, then the even-numbered lines). The 1080p format has the same pixel resolution as 1080i, but it is a progressive scan format and thus has a constant vertical resolution of 1080 lines.
