Then logically that means there are several variations of the Panasonic DVD Player DVD-S700 where this function does not work on one variation (let's say maybe the black version) and it does on the white version. How else can you explain that I just received the black version and there's no way this resume function works using any of the straightforward or convoluted instruction provided in the manual, in the answers below, or instructions found by googling. Sorry folks, if you want the safe answer, it is no this does not resume where you left off after stopping (not pausing since that would be a "dah") the episode. Just as an aside, I've owned many dvd players over the years, and this is the first one I've encountered where this function doesn't work.

Answer:	I'm getting this over a modern Blu-ray player for a number of reasons. A. This device can be easily unlocked to play any region DVD's, a region free Blu-ray player costs around $200. B. I want a dedicated DVD player that is made strictly for that purpose as I have a huge DVD collection and not many Blu-ray's, for many Blu-ray players, the DVD aspect is somewhat of an afterthought and not the purpose of the machine, you will notice in reading Blu-ray player reviews, people often complain about their players not playing older dvd's getting error messages with DVD's ect., it is a different technology and an "add on " for a Blu-ray player. C. Modern Blu-ray players try to do too much, they have all this technology and bells and whistles, there are a lot more things to go wrong in them, freeze up and fry the machines, ect., they also are constantly getting on the internet and updating software and that can make the machine more prone to go bad too with one bad line of code or a virus. My Sony Blu-ray player jumped on the internet and reported me to Sony because it thought the disk I was watching was a bootleg, my player actually tattled on me while whatching a movie and the machine froze and I got a notice in my email from Sony accusing me of pirating. In any event for me anyway, there are a number of reasons I would choose a good basic player for $50 and not have all the bells, whistles and headaches. Answer:	RMT-B126A - Also, as a note, I have a Sony BDP-S560 Blu-Ray Player and that remote also will interact with the S1200 as well as the S1200 remote interacts with the BDP-560. The reason I am telling you this is should you have another Sony device with a remote control you may find both remotes interacting with both devices. This can be a hassle when you're wanting to watch something using the S1200 and every time you turn it on by its remote the other device comes on as well. Just FYI.

Answer:	A 1080p movie has 2 million pixels. A 4k tv has 8 million pixels that make up the picture you see on the screen. As you can see, there are 6 million pixels missing from a blu-ray disc. A player will add in those missing pixels digitally aka upscale. Bottom line, your blu-ray movie will look better than if watched using a blu-ray player. But, it won't look as crisp as a 4k uhd movie.

The television receives information to display the picture along with the sound, that is the function of the DVD player. One can play disks from the USA that are NTSC format and someone in the USA can play my disks that use the PAL format on their NTSC TV receiver using a Majority Scholars Compact DVD. My player connects using the RCA plug leads. The one in the USA uses the HDMI lead.

Answer:	I'd like to hear from Sony on this. My (previous model) BDPS580 had the child lock issue and a buffering problem. After constant buffering problems with Netflix etc, we bought a roku which NEVER buffers. We use the Sony only for BluRay playback. Re the child lock issue, after many days and hours of we give up. It's horrible. We downloaded a firmware update. It hung up on install and now it will not reload because it thinks it's complete. So the machine constantly displays the flashing goodbye message "see you" and does not consistently open, close, turn on or off. We do the various reset procedures "home-return-top menu" or unplug and replug, or hold the power button for 10 seconds, and then it sometimes responds. Once, twice. Then dies again. We turned off the quick start feature, tried to update the firmware again, many times, and it won't update because it thinks it doesn't need it. To be clear, it NEEDS something. Horrible machine.

Answer:	It creates a simulated high-definition picture that can look fine. However, many 4K sets these days already upscale any DVD feed (to 1080p) or even 1080p feed (to 4K), and it may sometimes happen that a player that is upscaling will have the results clash with the upscaling feature available with the set. This happened with my player and I had to go to its menu and disable the upscaling feature. The player then worked fine.

Answer:	If you want to upscale via HDMI, it will not display the CC. HDMI doesn't support CC, nor do modern TVs, except for broadcast where it is government-mandated. The old composite (yellow) connection is analog and will show CC, but then what's the point of having an upscaling player? HD incompatibility with CC (not to be confused with subtitles) has been an major issue in the deaf community since the government, in its rush to digital, forgot about it. Now, however, some BluRay players, like Sony 3500 and 3700, have a CC decoder built in that reads and transfers DVD's CC (BDs all have subtitles) before they gets to the HDMI cable so they will finally show up on a modern TV, which is not equipped to decode CC via HDMI. While the decoder used to be in the the old analog CRTs, now it is in the new players after being missing from HDMI until 2015. The Sony 510H is not among the players that decode CC through HDMI, so if you're hearing-impaired and a DVD has CC rather than subtitles, you're stuck with composite. Frustratingly, modern TVs won't even read CC via the better-looking component video inputs (red/green/blue + audio)--which they should because these are analog as well).
