| Answer: | Whoaaaaa that's not how electricity and conductors work, at all. Each of the four will deliver full current at the output, but the total amount of current provided by the power supply will get split down to each device connected. What this means is that if you have four cameras each pulling 100mA, then the total load will be only 400mA - less than half an amp total pull. If you have four cameras that each somehow manage to pull 1 amp of current, then the total load will be four amps, and the 2 amp power supply will be overloaded. If you have four cameras and one is dead and shorted out, then the power supply will overload and none of the cameras will work. The four way splitter doesn't divide anything, it just provides a four way connection to a single power supply. Before you buy something like this, you need to be sure that your four devices won't consume more than the one power supply can provide, it's that simple. If your devices are all low power, you'll be fine, but if together they require more power than the included power supply can provide, then you need a stronger power supply than the one they give you. Most little CCTV cameras won't cause you this problem, but you want to be sure of that before you put the whole thing together and find out that the whole system fails due to insufficient power. Also something to bear in mind - when / if this one power supply fails for any reason, all four cameras go down at once, and you're totally blind. The seller should have told you all this instead of giving a lazy, cheap, "yeah whatever you say is right" answer that ignores important facts of electronics. |
