Answer:	I can't say for the Tecsun 380 but use it with a Tecsun 310et and Tecsun PL660 with very good results and have picked up places like Australia and New Zealand from southeast Ohio. I think the main difference between the 310 and 380 is that the 310 has an external antenna jack.

Answer:	For the direct connection to work, the radio must have a jack (like the headphone jack) marked antenna. Not all radios have this direct connection and that is why Sangean includes the clip on pictured which attaches to your radio's telescopic antenna.

Answer:	See my detailed review on this outstanding piece of equipment posted 9 April 2016. This is my comment on sound and bass performance: "The Fatbox's sound performance is among the best I've ever heard for a unit of its size. The sound is comparable to the Bose Wave radio, in my opinion. I'm a low-end fan; thus, I was concerned that the Fatbox might not perform as it has no subwoofer. However, other reviewers were correct. The Fatbox has impressive low-end performance, even without its `Loudness' function activated. Indeed, I found the bass to be a bit overpowering after I hit the loudness button" at low volume. However, approaching the Fatbox's maximum volume, the Loudness function makes a slightly noticeable improvement in low-end performance, in my opinion.

Question:	Will I need converter for Europe voltage 230 V 50 Hz
Answer:	Yes you will Mike. I believe you will need a step down transformer as I did in New Zealand where the NZ Voltage is also 230 V 50 HZ. As the radio is made in the USA where they have 120V 60 Hz if you don't use the step down transformer there will be too much power supplied to the radio so it could be severely damaged. Paul.
Question:	What's the difference between both Sangean models
Answer:	the wr 11 model is a manual tune radio with the old fashioned slide rule tuning, the wr2 is a digitally tuned model similar to modern car radios..including theability to preset the channels you listen to most.
Question:	My Fm reception is poor. How can it be improved
Answer:	Try the external antenna (extended, switch it to external). Try another location in the house for the radio. Try orienting the antenna differently and at least a foot away from large metal objects (which could change the nature of the antenna or block the signal). Try using a dipole antenna located remotely, higher, or in the clear with respect to the desired station. This may mean a getting a balun ($5), some coax (several dollars), and a folded FM dipole antenna ($7). Finally, consider putting an RF preamplifier between the folded dipole antenna and the radio. If none of that helps, you have a difficult location, a faulty radio, or a requirement to receive a station with too weak a signal to your location.When it's finally working and you realize that it has a serious deficit in fidelity (muddy, bassy, little midrange, no highs), as I did, put a more ordinary radio nearby and turn it up just enough to hear the midrange and highs. The combined sound will be a lot more like you had hoped for to begin with. I am profoundly displeased with the lack of audio fidelity and range in this radio. It is essentially a subwoofer with a tuner and not much more. How people rate it so highly is a complete and utter mystery to me. A profound ignorance of audio fidelity in the population at large, I guess.
Question:	How does the sound compare to a Tivoli Model 1 radio
Answer:	I have a much older Tivoli model one. The volume control no longer works properly. Yes the Tivoli one has a greater depth of sound. But the price point was important to me as this radio gets minimal use. So I am pleased with the purchase. Check consumer reviews for the Tivoli model one.

Question:	Sorry I'm not real literate on portable radios, I am looking for a good AM/FM HD 2 radio. Is the Sangean PR-D5 HD 2 compatible
Answer:	Although this radio displays RDS text, it is not HD capable. Some might confuse RDS with HD. Yes, HD can communicate textual information as well as additional audio streams. RDS is an earlier technology used to communicate textual information. At this writing (fall 2013), the circuitry needed to decode HD consumes a lot of power. That's why you don't see too many HD radios that run on batteries (except for the ones in automobiles!).
Question:	Is the clock visible in the dark, i.e. is it back-lit? I am looking for something to use as a clock radio, but with decent sound
Answer:	The display shows the station tuned in (and the memory number, if you've saved it) but the time only shows when you push a button. There is a backlight but it only stays on for fifteen seconds or so after you push the button, not so good if you're wanting to see the time, say from a nightstand.
Question:	is this an HD radio
Answer:	It is not an HD radio which receives additional audio and data signals. This radio has an RDS function which receives only the data signal containing information about time, station identification and program information.
Question:	Does this come with a power cord for a regular house power outlet

Answer:	Yes it is a radio with a digital clock on the front so yes it is a clock radio. The digital clock by the way receives a signal that keeps it perfectly on time with the bureau of standards clock so it’s always accurate.

Answer:	It is equipped to receive Bluetooth right out of the box. Also, I must say that it does an excellent job of doing so! I stream directly from my tablet to the radio using Bluetooth nightly and it’s just awesome!
Question:	is it really that difficult to operate? a lot of people are saying its confusing
Answer:	The unit is not 'a breeze' to operate. It is actually somewhat complicated. I have to keep the instruction manual next to the device so that I can check how to do any task such as set alarm or time, or even the light dimmer settings. HOWEVER... I do like this little thing. It is such a nice surprise to find something so well-made these days. It is a solid unit and everything about it seems to be high quality. I would give it a 5 out of 5 rating.... but I may give it a 4 because it's so complicated to operate.
Question:	Will it charge my phone with the USB port
Answer:	Yes. I stream audio through the phone to the radio via bluetooth and charge it at the same time. See other answer. The radio must be in certain play modes to charge. Pretty handy.

Answer:	It comes with an A/C adapter cord - so, yes, you can plug the cord into a regular home power outlet, plug the other end into the radio and operate the radio without batteries. If you have rechargeable batteries (six "C" size batteries) and you set a little switch inside the battery compartment to reflect rechargeable batteries, the radio will recharge them when plugged into the home power outlet.

Question:	Does the WR-2 have an ear phone plug
Answer:	Hi. All my e!ectricity is 12 volt, off the grid, so I got a 12 volt adapter that plugs into a 12V socket, so in that sense it CAN run off batteries but it has no place to insert batteries.
Question:	is there a timer to shut the radio off after an hour or what ever
Answer:	The 70's trick of tightly filling the port with drinking straws, extends the port tube length to lower the pitch. You can also block some of the straws to get the port tune pitch even lower. The same approach will fix compact subwoofers. Alternative is to shrink the port tube diameter by taping in one or more pencils (wooden dowel with rounded ends). The above will make the port work correctly, IF the cabinet meets the minimum size permissible for its speaker. Note the if. However, when the cabinet is Not big enough for its speaker, then use cheesecloth (stuffed port diverts power towards imitating a larger cabinet). Or, for the adventurous, a combination of cheesecloth and straws can work (because a port is usable after causing the cabinet to seem big enough for its speaker). P.S. These concepts are usable with any speaker. Additionally, if you'd like a slight loudness contour effect, you can enclose some cheesecloth in the radio, directly behind the speaker. Worth a mention: To avoid redo's, let a brand new speaker break in for at least 30 hours (before cabinet/port modification) because the tone levels out and the bass works Slightly better after initial break-in. And, oddly like un-bending aluminum, there's no cost to take off Half the error, so aim for that much initially (get serviceability, hit the ballpark, then re-check).

Answer:	They are trying to be retro without a cheesy plastic case.They are trying to get a somewhat older sound, the reason for one speaker. The enclosure is a ported (or bass reflex) enclosure, you pay for that, the other more modern design looking radios are neither sealed (acoustic suspension) nor ported, both found in stereo systems, just speakers in a plastic box. You can run it off the wall or an external battery. The tuner is stereo if you output the sound via of the output jack on the back, or headphones, so the turner which is very good could front end an amp.It has a simple old no nonsense design of the past, that many people like, a decent wood cabinet, has good sound and is a good desk, book shelf, boat, kitchen radio. You can buy and plug in a blue tooth device in the back, I prefer this because a lot of time built-in Bluetooth in devices like this can't get thier firmware upgraded.Yes, it's would it, especially if you enjoy, less is more, objects for their design and looks.
