Answer:	The crank is made of plastic. Considering the solar panel is smaller on this unit it will take longer to fully charge. However, the quality of the solar panel is the same in both models.

Answer:	According to reviews, its is rated IPx4 water resistant, IPx4 is water resistance to rain including driving rain from all directions + short-duration (generally means accidental) up to 5 minute full submerging to depth of less than 3 feet. IPv5 and 6 allow prolonged submersion at greater depths (greater depth = more pressure at seals) & withstanding directed pressurized water spray, which this doesn't have but IPx4 is probably the highest water resistance for anything close to this price point

Answer:	Any charger that has a micro-USB should work. But please note that Eton states in the manual for the FRX5 --NOTE: The USB power source should be able to withstand a minimum constant 500 mA power output for an extended period of time to fully charge the FRX5's 2000mAh battery.There are at least two units that state they are for the FRX5. Try searching for FR-X5 NFRX5SWXBGHope this helps!

Answer:	I purchased a 800 mah battery but it was too large for the compartment. Any idea of what is the exact replacement battery that fits into the compartment of the Eton Portable?

Answer:	Since it uses two 1.5 volt batteries in series, it is clear that it runs on 3 volts. If it works with rechargeables, then it will work on as little as 2.5 volts. Any adapter with the right size connector, AND THE CORRECT TIP POLARITY, that puts out the correct voltage, will work. If you get the reverse tip polarity, it either won't work with that adapter, or it will fry the radio.

Answer:	IMHO... Best sounding would be Tecsun PL880 but, at an expense. Near excellent performer in all categories (reception & price included) and heir apparent to the GE SuperRadios, would be the CCRadio EP. Its successor, CCRadio EP Pro, may go it one better with DSP processing, if... the kinks have been worked out as promised. CCRadio 2E takes the EP to full digital but, at an expense. The Eton/Grundig Executive Satellit is the most capable, bang for buck, good reception and not bad sounding. The CCRadio Skywave SSB has oustanding reception and WB/WX, at an expense. Honorable mention to the Sangean HDR-14, with outstanding AM/FM (both SD & HD radio) reception and, sound ported thru earphones or powered speakers yields the HD radio quality experience.

Answer:	If you fully charge a smartphone, then completely drain said smartphone of power, then recharge the smartphone...that is charging the smartphone twice. Or, if you rather, charge two smartphones if you happen to have two. This unit, when fully charged, holds enough power in the internal battery to do that without having to recharge it. Once the internal battery of this unit is drained, you can recharge it and repeat the process as many times and as often as you wish. Does that answer your question?

Question:	Does this model have a rubberized coating? I bought an FR-300 (now discontinued) a few years ago and now the entire surface is a sticky, gooey mess
Answer:	As far as I can tell they are the same. Correct me if I am wrong but I believe Grundig and Eton are under the same umbrella now. I have had no problems with the radio I purchased and it has the Eton brand name on it.
Question:	Can you buy replacement rechargeable battery on Amazon
Answer:	When I first received the radio it played for more than three, weeks on one set of batteries - about two hours of usage per day at moderate to high volume. When I replaced the batteries, they new set lasted less than 4 days. At the same time, the amount of play for a 2 minute cranking of the dynamo declined from more than an hour to less than 10 minutes. I attempted to return the unit for replacement but I had exceeded the 30 day warranty period. So, if you purchase this model, use it as much as possible in the first 30 days and promply notify Amazon if the performance declines and you want a replacement or a refund.

Answer:	Yes through the usb port on the back. As long as the unit has a charge it will work.

Answer:	It comes with an AC adapter. I use mine with the AC adapter most of the time, seems like the signal comes in stronger that way.

Question:	Is the surface of radio rubbery? I have one that is rubbery and never feels clean
Answer:	Interesting - the photo that comes up with this question is not what I got, I have the FX1 - it's red with black trim (very similar to the white one in the photo accompanying the screen I'm seeing as I'm responding to the question. The "X" shaped trim that you see on the front is black on mine, and it's a bit softer plastic, maybe slightly rubbery, but I don't get a sense of never being clean. I suspect they've lumped several very similar models into the same question/answer feature on Amazon.

Answer:	I've mostly used the off-the-wall recharging I found longer-lasting, but when I did put it out in the sun, I had left it there for little more than half a day. The unit, of course, get hot with the exposure, but seems to work with the solar recharging—lasts about 3-4 hours continuous use with mine, though I never really tracked it.

Answer:	Yabba dabba.... Yes. It is not clearly pointed out but does state "there's also an input to charge via a wall socket or computer using the included mini-USB cord"The cable that comes with this device is a USB Type A to USB Mini-B for DC charging the radio. If you want to use your own AC/DC converter, make sure it can either mate with the provided cable (USB A port) or can connect to the USB Mini-B port of the radio directly. Clear as mud?
