1. If you insert the SD card when the speaker is on, there will be a sound of Ding and it will play the music stored on the SD card.
2. If you insert the SD card when the speaker is off, after powering on, please select the Micro-SD card playing mode by double pressing the power button.

Answer:	You will still need to use the USB C Connector and transformer(charger) but connected to an extension cord should present no problems.

Answer:	At least 30 feet. I haven't tried to see how far though. It's a great little speaker though. I went canoeing last week and it lasted the whole 9 Mile stretch on max volume.
