User questions & answers
Question: | Will sdxc 32gb work in this |
Answer: | If you purchase the R0de SC3 adapter, then it is pretty much compatible with any device that will accept a 1/8" input. For example, a Sennheiser lav belt pack orany other device that requires a passive input. |
Question: | Does this one have a max SD card size it can read |
Answer: | You can record from as far away as 20 feet with literally NO loss of audio quality using these combo:Rode SC6 Breakout box -http://amzn.to/292JOrDRode SC1 TRRS Extension Cable -http://amzn.to/29nvCdgCopy/paste the above links into your browser's address bar and press EnterUsing the above combo, you can plugin up to 2 SmartLav+ mics and a Headphone to monitor recording levels at the same time. Some phone cases require you to remove the case before you plugin the breakout box. If so, you can plugin the extension cable into the phone and plugin the breakout box between the extension cable and the SmartLav+ mics/headphone. This way, there is NO need to remove the phone case :) I've tried a couple of non-Rode extension cables and breakout boxes for about half the cost but there were just crap and died in a few weeks. Once you try these, you will notice immediately that these are PERFECT and VERY HIGH QUALITY products (especially the perfect thickness of the cords without adding mass, Gold-plated tips for high quality audio) and you get what you pay for. This combo works for me great!! |
Question: | Has anyone ordered this as of recent and still having problems with screwing it into the recorder? Alot of reviews in March complaining |
Answer: | Do I need to purchase additional connector in order to connect with android phone? |
Question: | What lav mic does it come with. It looks like the sennheiser me 2 from the picture. Can anyone confirm |
Answer: | Yes, it will work, depending on what camera you have. It comes with a TRRS plug which is required when you want to plug it into a cellphone to record audio. (*Reason being that a microphone requires power to run, and a cellphone jack doesn't give off power. Since this was designed with cellphone use in mind, they used a TRRS plug that would draw power from your phone to run the mic.*) However, if you want to plug it into a camera, or another device with an external mic jack, you will need to buy the Rode SC3 adapter. (*Reason being that devices with a jack for an external microphone do give off power to run that microphone, so the extra function of the TRRS tip is not necessary.*)That Rode SC3 adapter will change the plug from TRRS to TRS, which can then be used with your nikon dslr, or other device with a 3.5mm external microphone jack. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Says it does 4 channel recording. It takes 4 individual channels and combines them to 2 stereo channels. Is there a way to maintain 4 separate channe |
Answer: | Hello, Yes, you can use the Scarlett 18i8 (3rd Gen) with Reaper. Best regards, Jay Lilley // Focusrite Technical Support Engineer |
Question: | I have a problem with the 60D not working with rechargeable batteries, even after changing the battery settings. Anyone else have this? Know of a fix |
Answer: | Hello, Yes this is possible in Windows. To expose additional channels from your Scarlett interface to non-ASIO applications (e.g. Skype, Discord, Zoom, Audacity) first click the Focusrite Notifier icon in the taskbar, then click "Expose/Hide Windows Channels": Best Regards, Anthony // Focusrite Support |
Question: | What's a good USB battery pack to pair with this |
Answer: | The biggest change is in the headroom. These preamps and converters are cleaner and offer more gain than the 2nd gen. These pres also come equipped with the "Air" mode which adds some high end to model the ISA preamp circuit. The 3rd gen 18i20 also has 16 ADAT I/O channels as opposed to the 2nd gen's 8 channels of ADAT. The removable ears also help with portability for the engineer who doesn't want to keep the interface in a rack. If this was helpful, please consider purchasing from us (pixelproaudio on Amazon). We can help with support after the sale as well. We have it in stock and ready to ship. - Pixel Pro Audio |
Question: | What's the difference between this and the previous version of the DR60D |
Answer: | Hi, There have been several improvements made to the 3rd generation range of interfaces. Firstly, all of the inputs on the 18i20 3rd gen feature Air mode, emulating the classic sound of our original transformer-based ISA preamps. Secondly, the 18i20 3rd gen now has the ability to switch between Main and Alternative speakers connected to it using a front panel button. Thirdly, we have added a built-in Talkback function (allowing the engineer to talk directly to the performer), a Loopback function (allowing audio from one application to be recorded into another without connecting cables), Dual ADAT ports for recording 16 channels of audio into the DAW at 96kHz, optical S/PDIF and removable rack ears. Lastly, the specifications of the preamps and conversion have been improved even further - for example, the dynamic range has been increased to 111dB and the gain range is now 56dB instead of 50dB on the 2nd generation. Best regards, Laurence Clarke // Focusrite Technical Support |

User questions & answers
Question: | I like to record from my portable PA (JBL EON210P) w/ RCA & 1/4" output. Is this a good recorder or is there other better options |
Answer: | The DP006 is an entry level 4-6 track recorder. It's not a professional board, but it does what it claims to do very well. |
Question: | can you record a live performace |
Answer: | Absolutely! However your results will depend on the placement of the device. You could record a live performance using either the internal mic or using external mics strategically located. This little unit is pretty diverse in it's application. Results depend on your recording acumen. Which develop over time. |
Question: | Can you transfer your recording to a thumb drive |
Answer: | You record individual tracks that are then mixed down by you into a stereo mp3 with this same unit. From there, you can do anything with the mp3 file - put it on a thumb drive, email it, upload it, etc. If you are asking "can you go directly to thumb drive?", I don't think there is an easy way. It has an SD card that you can take out and put in any card reader, then you would be able to transfer onto a thumb drive. |
Question: | does this need external speakers or are they built in? also what would be a good micraphone to use for i need one further away from the unit |
Answer: | It does need some sort of device to output sound. It is equipped for headphones. You can use any mic you like as well as a condenser if you have phantom power capabilities. The onboard mics are good quality as well. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Do you have to record through the built in recorder or can you use a daw on your pc too |
Answer: | Not sure how to but you can, that's made to record instrumentals and also vocals, I didn't need it because I make my instrumentals with a software so went with protools for vocals. |
Question: | Does this come with a power supply and SD card, or do I need to buy them separately? I don't see anything about that in the description |
Answer: | Yes on the power supply and sd card but you might want to buy a bigger sd card if your planning on recording alot. |
Question: | other than the obvious extra tracks, is this relatively the same as the Tascam 24 track |
Answer: | There are two versions of this unit, the DP-24SD and the DP-32. The DP-24 has 12 mono channels and 6 "Fixed"stereo channels. The DP-32 has 8 mono channels and 10 stereo or mono channels. You can only record 8 tracks at once so either 8/mono or 4/stereo (each stereo channel counts as 2 tracks) or any combination not to exceed 8 tracks. The processing and Physical layout are the same pretty much the same. |
Question: | The dp 32sd says you can record 8 inputs at one time. the comments here say you can only record 2 inputs at one time. which is correct |
Answer: | Look at which version they are reviewing. This Amazon listing allows buyers to choose one of three different recorders...one being the 8 track which only allows 2 inputs. The customer reviews below include the combined comments for purchases of all three versions... so you are obviously reading comments directed towards the 8 track version. The 32 track recorder does in fact allow eight inputs with simultaneous recording. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Any issues with sound going out of sync after a certain amount of time |
Answer: | Didn't check sRGB, but at least the one I got almost fully covered AdobeRGB, like 98%. Not as good as my old HP LP2475 which has a much wider gamut.Keep in mind, at least on Windows, Photoshop has scaling issues on a 4k display. The other Adobe programs work fine. |
Question: | Does the DR-70D lose it's settings if you remove the batteries |
Answer: | If using multiple monitors with different resolutions, make sure the highest resolution monitor is the primary one. I thought, mistakenly it turns out, that I'd like to use my 1080P monitor for the desktop and use Lightroom's dual monitor support to put the image on the higher resolution secondary display. It is amazing how many boxes from Lightroom to just plain installing software became difficult to impossible to use. My new plan is to use my HP 5K monitor as the primary display and this NEC for Lightroom's secondary image display. |
Question: | can you monitor or adjust each mic line seperately on the tascam 70d online reviews says you can only do that with the tascam 60d mk |
Answer: | since I don't have the two monitors side by side, can't answer that specifically. I am also a photographer, and once I hooked this up - the clarity blew me away. I love it - have not color calibrated it yet. |
Question: | Can the 701d be powered any way besides batteries? ex. usb or a/c |
Answer: | No it does not but it is well worth the price |

4 XLR/TRS combo jacks allow a variety of setups
