Answer:	I've left mine on for 12 hrs and the batteries were less than half drained, using regular grade batteries. My guess is you could easily get 48 hrs or more on lithium batteries

Answer:	You should be able to take the recordings off of this with usb and then use a separate software like Express Scribe to transcribe them. this would be great for a doctor who wants to dictate and then send the files to a typist for transcription.

Answer:	The files are WMA and Mac only uses QuickTime so you need something to convert them.

Answer:	There is an unacceptably long delay for it to start recording, up to 10 seconds where it says "please wait." Also clunky and clumsy to use, poor interface. I returned it and got an Olympus VN-541PC which has a button you can slide to ACTUALLY start recording instantly.

Answer:	Enter the recording options, select AVR settings, then select AVR on. When you enter the recording mode, it will automatically start recording when it detects the sound, and it will stop when it does not detect the sound. It also has a sensitivity setting, you need to set it to the lowest level, otherwise, even your breathing sound can be recorded.

Answer:	Yes. We use it to record lacrosse and setup kn the center line and pan the whole field. The clarity is very good.

Answer:	Any wireless microphone has a transmitter built into the mic, and a receiver that you plug in to the camcorder. This cam has jacks for microphones, so by definition it has jacks for wireless mic. Both XLR and 1/8" pin.
Question:	will this camera be good for recording in a dark room/bar or club
Answer:	It will be about as good as a new iPhone. The lens is pretty good in low light. It has infrared mode for shooting in complete darkness, but the subject needs to be within 10 feet or so.

Answer:	There is only a built in microphone with the XA 11; this holder is for other external microphones.

Answer:	Just a note about recording into a dslr: the bitrate and sample rate you set on the zoom doesn't affect the bitrate and sample rate recorded onto the dslr file. Your dslr always determines the bitrate and sample rate. (IE: for most Canon's that's 44khz/16 bit). The audio quality from the zoom will be better than your on-camera mic simply because the microphone itself is higher quality, but don't expect to be recording 96khz/24 bit audio straight into your dslr's .mov files!
Question:	can I record a piece to video with the Zoom recording my voice and then synch it to video
Answer:	Sure thing. I use mine as a primary aiduo recorder for my Nikon D5300. I use the sound from the camera as areference track and then stnc the wave file from the Zoom to the video using Final Cut X. Works perfect with much better sound quality.
Question:	What does this device actually record onto - some sort of a memory card or flash drive? I'm looking for something that will record at least 6 hours
Answer:	You get roughly 12 hours on the 2GB micro SD card included, in MP3 320kbps. Quality is excellent. If you want WAV format your looking at about 2.5 hours with the stock card. Larger cards are cheap though so it's upgradable.

Integrated LCD with Touch Panel

A 3.0-inch 1.03-million-dot tilting LCD monitor provides the Canon XC15 4K UHD Camcorder with a bright, vivid-color display for shooting and playing back footage. The LCD's innovative two-axis parallel hinge mechanism allows the display to be placed in optimal positions for shooting at a variety of angles, from low to high. This LCD also integrates a highly advanced capacitive touch-panel for easy fingertip control of all camera functions and settings. Camera information can be displayed on-screen for clear and easy visual recognition of selected menu items, and users can also swipe from one menu page to another without vertical scrolling. The user interface borrows many of the concepts from the Canon EOS system making the camera intuitive to operate for users familiar with other Canon products. Pro Audio Module with XLR Inputs

The bundled Microphone Adapter MA-400 for the Canon XC15 4K UHD Camcorder opens up a number of creative possibilities. Two XLR-format audio ports enable direct connection to professional audio equipment such as microphones and audio mixers. The MA-400 allows manual or automatic audio level control and the ability to receive line level signals. The MA-400 also includes an integrated microphone holder to facilitate mounting a shotgun style mic directly to the unit.

To provide improved stability for the supplied MA-400, the Canon XC15 4K UHD Camcorder is fitted with a cold shoe mount that is longer than that offered on other comparable Canon cameras. The cold shoe's added length provides a larger support area for the adapter and any compatible microphone mounted within the MA-400's integral mic mount. Because the cold-shoe mount does not have compatible data contact pins, the XC15 4K UHD Camcorder does not support still-image sync shooting when using Canon Speedlite flash units.
