Answer:	Yes, the light dims, but in my case the fan was shipped in "non-dim mode". I had to enable dimming mode via a sequence of keypresses on the remote. You can find the details online. Search for "hunter fan enable dimming mode" or somesuch.

Answer:	They work perfectly for us through trees & hills & underground. We use them to communicate between two houses, & they even work from the cellar underneath the garage over to the next house. They work as far into the forest as we have walked from the house (not measured distance.) we leave them on all the time, & the batteries last about a week for our usage. Clear audio, easy to use.

Answer:	Not too sure. Many of these radios are simply oem and then branded by a tgird party. Internally at least, they are likely to be the same. The channels may or may not be different, but that is as simple as plug in to a computer and change it.

Many consumers, however, fall into the trap of believing the misleading advertising that various manufacturer’s use to help sell their products, especially when they are in panic mode due to a natural disaster (like an earthquake) or (currently) various lock-down scenarios due to the latest overseas virus. One frequently used example of this buying trap are the claims of 35 to 50 mile range from 1/2 watt UHF FRS/GMRS handheld radios with non-removable antennas (frequently seen on various Cobra, Midland, Motorola, and Uniden radios sold at various big box stores or on the internet). At UHF frequencies (and with a decent antenna), you’ll normally get around 1 mile of range for every 1 watt of power on transmit, so a 1/2 watt big box store FRS/GMRS radio is likely to get only 1/2 mile of range, nowhere near the 35 to 50 mile claims shown on the box in large type (with the phrase “under optimum conditions” shown in very small type). What that means is that if one individual is standing near the cliff face on a tall 9,000 ft. high mountain and his friend is doing the same thing 35 miles away (with nothing between the two mountains but air), then they “may” get the 35 mile range as advertised. Answer:	These devices have the ability to communicate with any Walkie Talkie tuned to the same channel. they have 36 channels and 121 privacy codes. They are not locked to each other. I have used mine with a buddy's set of Motorola Walkie talkies and they work fine together. I believe I have had around 8 different devices on the same channel and everyone was able to communicate with each other.

Answer:	It's hard to answer this question without adding some basics of radio. These gadgets (FRS Band) operate @ 462+ MHz and indeed is close to "line of sight" (with no obstructions) use, as is everything in this frequency range - this is one of those "Mother Nature is a Bi&$%" things. Couple that with their 500 Mw (1/2 watt) output and it's easy to become disappointed with the range offered. Remember, manufacturers love to tout the best case scenario for their products.Bottom line, these are kiddie toys unless paired with a more powerful (and licensed, as I am) GMRS (Ground Mobile Radio Service) base station using a decent antenna. GMRS licenses are $75 for 5 years and allow operating with up to 50 watts on Ch. 15-22 in this band.de kd5zes

Answer:	I'd stay 5' apart while doing so. Loudest cafe I've been in is the King's Road Cafe ... 1/2 mile east of Beverly Hills and 5 block east of Cedars Sinai and the Beverly Mall on Beverly Boulevard in LA. This is a bustling, rustic place that roasts it's own coffee beans and has the best coffee I've ever had in the USA ... the equal to a typical coffee in Switzerland ... $3 for a HUGE pink cup (1/2 coffee and 1/2 steamed milk). And the food is fabulous and reasonable (try well-done salmon atop a veggie salad). The crowd is eclectic ... you may see well-known entertainers at lunch (Renee Zellweger used to hang there). But the noise is DEAFENING! Better to snag a tiny outside table on the sidewalk, just feet from the traffic. And parking is on the street and sparse. Great fun, tho ... just watch out for young gang bangers at night who sneak up and grab rich ladies' bags off their chairs at the outdoor tables ... saw this once. So at night, be sure to eat INSIDE.
