11 best midland cb radio antennas
Midland CB radio antennas are essential components for citizens band (CB) radio systems. CB radios are used for short-distance, two-way communication primarily for personal, recreational, and professional purposes. Antennas are crucial for enhancing the range and signal strength of these radios. Here is some information about Midland CB radio antennas:
Types of Antennas: Midland offers a variety of CB radio antennas to suit different needs. Common types include:
Magnetic Mount Antennas: These are easily attachable to the roof of a vehicle and are popular for mobile CB setups.
Fiberglass Whip Antennas: These antennas are flexible and durable, making them suitable for off-road and rugged applications.
Center Load Antennas: These have a coil at the base, which allows for easy tuning and improved performance.
Antenna Length: The length of the CB antenna is critical for its performance. Longer antennas generally have a longer range but may be less practical for certain vehicles. Midland antennas come in various lengths to accommodate different setups.
Compatibility: It's important to ensure that the Midland CB antenna you choose is compatible with your CB radio and the specific frequencies you plan to use.
Mounting Options: Midland antennas can be mounted on a variety of surfaces, including roofs, hoods, and trunks. The choice of mounting location can affect the antenna's performance.
Tuning: Properly tuning the antenna is essential for optimal performance. Midland provides guidelines and accessories to help users tune their antennas to the desired frequency.
Weather Resistance: Many Midland CB antennas are designed to withstand various weather conditions, which is important for outdoor and mobile applications.
Range and Performance: The range of a CB radio largely depends on factors like antenna height, power output, and terrain. Midland antennas are designed to maximize performance within these constraints.
Accessories: Midland offers a range of accessories such as coaxial cables, antenna mounts, and springs to enhance the functionality and durability of their antennas.
In summary, Midland CB radio antennas are designed to complement Midland CB radios and enhance their range and performance.Choosing the right antenna for your specific needs and properly installing and tuning it can significantly improve your CB radio communication capabilities.

User questions & answers
Question: | Can you use a fire stick antenna with this unit |
Answer: | Jeff: Yes you can. You must use detach the flexible portable antenna, attach the provided vehicle 12 volt power source, and then attach the external antenna to the unit. |
Question: | are there handle bar mounts for the radio for motorcycle |
Answer: | The only one I've found was was from J@M model PACB-409-15. And they have a high opinion of it. I slightly modified an ARKON mount with the small pouch. I cut down the belt clip to fit in the bracket on dry days and use the pouch on wet days. |
Question: | There are many magnetic car mount antennas offered....can you suggest the cheapest yet most effective antenna to go with this unit |
Answer: | Remember your antenna is the most important part of your radio station.. Go with the Sirio Performer 5000, absolutely one of the best antennas you can get for the money.. You get what you pay for.. I've been a radio operator for over 50 years.. |
Question: | So with the adapter, you can plug the radio into something and it will use your car antenna or some other antenna and get further range? How far |
Answer: | Your antenna is the most important aspect in getting good range on your CB. For the beginner, your best bet is to buy the Midland 18-2442, Center Load Mag Mount Mobile CB Radio Antenna, available on Amazon for $19.99. It works perfectly with the Midland 75-822 unit. The magnetic base is strong enough to stay put until you remove it. It should be centered on the roof of your car, or truck cab, to radiate the best signal. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How large of a metal ground plane (diameter of a metal disc) do I need to provide for a non-metal mounting on my Corvette (composite panels |
Answer: | I would say at least 6 inches. Seems to work good for me |
Question: | Will the 15w version still be able to operate at 5w for the frs channels |
Answer: | If you operate a radio that has been approved for both FRS and GMRS, and if you limit your operations to the FRS channels with a maximum power of ½ watt effective radiated power and an integral antenna, you are not required to have a license. (Note that some dual-service radios transmit with higher power on FRS channels 1 through 7; these radios can be used without a license only on FRS channels 8 through 14.) |
Question: | Do you need a license to use this |
Answer: | Yes. A GMRS license is required to transmit on this radio. It is $70 for a 10 year license. You need to purchase from FCC. This is not a HAM radio so a HAM license will not work. |
Question: | Is this a CB |
Answer: | No, it’s a 2-way radio that utilizes a different frequency band than C.B.’s. These are GMRS radios which by law you are supposed to have a license from the FCC to operate. The license is not hard to get. It’s a 10 year license for you and your immediate family that cost $70. Which averages out to $7 dollars a year. There is no test, you just go on line and register then submit your fee. I did mine on a Saturday night and it was approved on Monday. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can this be used with a portable cb radio |
Answer: | Microsoft Word allows this in the "Mailings". Open a new document in Word and select "Mailings" from the top menu. Select "Start Mail Merge". From the drop down menu select "Labels". A Label Options will popup. You want Page Printers, Tray= Default Tray. From Label Vendors, select Avery US Letter. Under Product Number, select the Avery product number such as 5302 Small Tent Cards. Click OK. Next select "Select Recipients", "Use and existing list" (assuming you have a list). Browse and find your list (can be a database list, excel list, etc. I always use an excel spreadsheet). Once you have that done, you can edit the list and then use the Insert Merge Field to put the different fields you want on the FIRST label. You can "Insert" pics or designs if you want. Now is the time to set your font and font size. Highlight the fields and select "Home". Now you can adjust just like a normal document. Once you have the first label done, click on the Update Labels and then Preview Results. You will only see one page of labels. If they look right select Finish and Merge. Edit Individual Documents. Now you have ALL the pages. You can look down through the pages to ensure that all the fields fit (you may have a name that is too long for the font size you chose, you can adjust it now and it will only affect the one label. After you have checked them, just select "File" and print them. You can also save the file in case you need to make any changes later. Hope this helps. |
Question: | Will the cable fit into a Kenwood VHF FM 50 watt transceiver |
Answer: | Just below the page # on the right hand side there is a "+" plus button to add a page, then you use the arrow to move to the next page. |
Question: | Can this be mounted without the magnetic base? I'd prefer to thread it into a mount on my Jeep's spare tire rack, if possible |
Answer: | These are very plain. Not embossed. Average weight. I kept them folded and "pressed" with weight over night because they didn't stand up well on their own. That worked. My review was 1 star because there is no option of no stars. |
Question: | How tall is the antenna and how long is the cable? 'Can find nothing but vague answers all over the internet - even the Midland website has nothing |
Answer: | If you are using our free Online Design & Print software, when you are in Step 3 Customize you can use the Sheet Navigator on the right-hand side to select the other side of the tent card. That will allow you to edit the backside. If you need more assistance, please reach out to our Care Team through call or chat at avery.com/contact. We would be happy to assist you! |

User questions & answers
Question: | With this radio can i get channel |
Answer: | Yes. This radio features all 40 channels. |
Question: | What is the adapter for |
Answer: | The adapter slides on the bottom of the radio and provides a power plug for your cigarette lighter and the antenna connector for your vehicle. |
Question: | What type of antenna mount is on the car adapter |
Answer: | Magnetic is best so you don't have to drill any holes. An Antenex CB-27 is one of the best. Not cheap, about $75. Just don't pinch the cable in your door frame or get the cable in a tight knot. There is a small copper wire down the middle of the cable to be careful with. The connectors on the radio adapter and the antenna cable are standard. |
Question: | what is the range of these radios, thanks |
Answer: | This is a hard one to answer. With the rubber duck antenna and a battery pack I was able to contact another mobile radio right at 1 mile in a urban setting. With the car adapter running a tuned k-30 on top of a truck I was talking clear at 11 miles. With different atmospheric conditions and different antenna mounting and.... you name it distance will be different. Put a linear amp on and you may be heard at 20 plus miles... it all depends. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does it come with a mounting bracket |
Answer: | The SoundLink Color II does have an auxiliary jack on it. Thank you for the question! |
Question: | Is the 3.5mm plug straight or 90 degrees |
Answer: | The longest Popcat meme recording I could find was only a ten hour loop. So obviously I’ve had to constantly hit repeat on it. Still looking for a 72 hour version. After constantly having to hit repeat after every ten hours for weeks, it seems fine. It handles the more blues-ey jazz alright, but after 3 seconds of rare basement bootleg acid jazz deep cuts, it threw itself into the toilet and flushes itself. Several weeks later, it was rumored that a sewer alligator was seen wearing a black turtleneck, beret, tiny square sunglasses, and a cardigan. |
Question: | What's the difference with the 70-2355T model |
Answer: | While you can leave it plugged in all the time, the question comes down more to the type of battery and whether you are shortening the life of the battery by doing so. I don’t personally know about this partidevice, but if you learn whether the battery is li-on, ni-mh, etc, then research that particular battery technology. |
Question: | Is this speaker waterproof? As in, if it gets left in a rain storm, will it still work |
Answer: | Hi Momo,Yes, there is an auxiliary jack on the system to connect a non Bluetooth device. You can operate the system off of AC as well as battery. Thanks for the question! |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does it come with a antena |
Answer: | The antena that comes with unit is not very good . It doesn't work in a automobile . |
Question: | Can you plug into cig lighter while talking on the road |
Answer: | Yes - it comes with a cigarette lighter plug. |
Question: | do you have to have a license for this radoi |
Answer: | CB stands for "Citizens Band", meaning for citizens, which requires no license to operate. |
Question: | What is the range of this radio if I would get two of them |
Answer: | Depends on the antenna you use. I used this radio several times in a caravan with another person who used a Cobra CB with roof-mount antenna, as well as some semi trucks. Here's what I found:Included "rubber duck" antenna -- probably 1/2 mile to 1 mile on straightaway, a few car-lengths on curves. (use "low" power to reduce echos)With 29.5 inch mag-mount CB Antenna from RadioShack (fine-tuned with SWR meter after install), about 1-2 miles (use high power)With 102 inch chassis-mounted CB antenna from RadioShack (fine-tuned with SWR meter after install), I reliably and comfortably chatted with trucks at 5-7 miles or my driving buddy at 2 miles (use high power)For comparison, we tried using FRS "family" walkie talkies and they would only work when we were immediately following each other without any curve or vehicles between us. |

Question: | Will this work with the midland CXT |
Answer: | Substantial |
Question: | Does it go with anything or are they actual radios |
Answer: | These are place cards (or name cards) and are intended to be used at events to indicate seating arrangements. They do not come with envelopes. Thanks! |
Question: | are these water resistant |
Answer: | I had my assistant do it and play around with it on Microsoft word. We messed with the margins. Wasted about 2-3 invitations before we got it right. But use the size of the invitations and input that into word and it should print out the way you would like. Hope that helps. |
Question: | Does it actually require batteries |
Answer: | In addition to using mail merge you can also use this site to import the names from an excel sheet: https://www.placecard.me/guides/avery-place-cards/ |

User questions & answers
Question: | can you also use AA batteries to power these radios |
Answer: | Yes you can, however the output power will drop drastically (form 5 to I think about 2W) with no indication on the display - it would still show “H” for High power. With the included battery pack though (which is essentially 5 1.2 NiMH AAA batteries in series) it achieves 5W transmit power. Which means if you buy it because of 5W output you must use battery pack. However battery pack does not last long. It is only 700mAh. Radio consumes 42mA on standby. So about 16 hours standby time if you don’t transmit. Charding time on the other hand is 12 hours. Make your own conclusions. |
Question: | what is the best REAL range I can expect |
Answer: | There are certainly many different choices available to folks regarding radio choices. Many consumers, however, fall into the trap of believing the misleading advertising that various manufacturer’s use to help sell their products, especially when they are in panic mode due to a natural disaster (like an earthquake) or (currently) various lock-down scenarios due to the latest overseas virus. One frequently used example of this buying trap are the claims of 35 to 50 mile range from 1/2 watt UHF FRS/GMRS handheld radios with non-removable antennas (frequently seen on various Cobra, Midland, Motorola, and Uniden radios sold at various big box stores or on the internet). At UHF frequencies (and with a decent antenna), you’ll normally get around 1 mile of range for every 1 watt of power on transmit, so a 1/2 watt big box store FRS/GMRS radio is likely to get only 1/2 mile of range, nowhere near the 35 to 50 mile claims shown on the box in large type (with the phrase “under optimum conditions” shown in very small type). What that means is that if one individual is standing near the cliff face on a tall 9,000 ft. high mountain and his friend is doing the same thing 35 miles away (with nothing between the two mountains but air), then they “may” get the 35 mile range as advertised. When both individuals are at ground level, normal range is reduced to a 1/2 mile (or less) depending upon obstructions that may be in their way. |
Question: | How much range can I expect from these radios in rugged, mountainous and forested terrain |
Answer: | Expect |
Question: | do I need a gmrs license |
Answer: | I called the FCC. If the radio goes beyond 2 watts, even if you are only using the lower-power channels, you still need to spend the $70 for the 10 year license. immediate family can use radios with your license (and you on the channel). GMRS will make for a better experience. I would just get it to be safe. |
