Answer:	If you operate a radio that has been approved for both FRS and GMRS, and if you limit your operations to the FRS channels with a maximum power of ½ watt effective radiated power and an integral antenna, you are not required to have a license. (Note that some dual-service radios transmit with higher power on FRS channels 1 through 7; these radios can be used without a license only on FRS channels 8 through 14.)

Answer:	Yes. A GMRS license is required to transmit on this radio. It is $70 for a 10 year license. You need to purchase from FCC. This is not a HAM radio so a HAM license will not work.

Answer:	No, it’s a 2-way radio that utilizes a different frequency band than C.B.’s. These are GMRS radios which by law you are supposed to have a license from the FCC to operate. The license is not hard to get. It’s a 10 year license for you and your immediate family that cost $70. Which averages out to $7 dollars a year. There is no test, you just go on line and register then submit your fee. I did mine on a Saturday night and it was approved on Monday.

Answer:	Yes you can, however the output power will drop drastically (form 5 to I think about 2W) with no indication on the display - it would still show “H” for High power. With the included battery pack though (which is essentially 5 1.2 NiMH AAA batteries in series) it achieves 5W transmit power. Which means if you buy it because of 5W output you must use battery pack. However battery pack does not last long. It is only 700mAh. Radio consumes 42mA on standby. So about 16 hours standby time if you don’t transmit. Charding time on the other hand is 12 hours. Make your own conclusions.
Question:	what is the best REAL range I can expect
Answer:	There are certainly many different choices available to folks regarding radio choices. Many consumers, however, fall into the trap of believing the misleading advertising that various manufacturer’s use to help sell their products, especially when they are in panic mode due to a natural disaster (like an earthquake) or (currently) various lock-down scenarios due to the latest overseas virus. One frequently used example of this buying trap are the claims of 35 to 50 mile range from 1/2 watt UHF FRS/GMRS handheld radios with non-removable antennas (frequently seen on various Cobra, Midland, Motorola, and Uniden radios sold at various big box stores or on the internet). At UHF frequencies (and with a decent antenna), you’ll normally get around 1 mile of range for every 1 watt of power on transmit, so a 1/2 watt big box store FRS/GMRS radio is likely to get only 1/2 mile of range, nowhere near the 35 to 50 mile claims shown on the box in large type (with the phrase “under optimum conditions” shown in very small type). What that means is that if one individual is standing near the cliff face on a tall 9,000 ft. high mountain and his friend is doing the same thing 35 miles away (with nothing between the two mountains but air), then they “may” get the 35 mile range as advertised. When both individuals are at ground level, normal range is reduced to a 1/2 mile (or less) depending upon obstructions that may be in their way.

Answer:	I used them recently on a road trip, I can’t say if there was interference from traffic, but on fairly flat terrain I lost comms after about 1.5-2 miles.

Answer:	Yes, they can be programmed for GMRS/FRS frequencies. Note however, they are not FCC type accepted for this use, however there are literally millions using them this way. And by the way, for GMRS, you do NOT have to lower power as the FCC now allows 50 watt radios on this band (maybe higher as their rules are changing every quarter, there is a current bulletin out from the FCC clarifying power on GMRS) FCC.gov and just search for GMRS Power limits.

Answer:	Hi I work with butters and oils and make handmade products. The grainy texture is normal, this is the Shea butter. Shea butter that is raw and unrefined is notorious for creating a bead like grainy texture once it melts and hardens but it is completely fine. It does not affect the quality or benefits of the product and still contains the skin nutrients your skin loves. On a side note, if refined shea was used then the product would never get grainy even if the heat melted it and hardened again however refined oils and butter generally have lost most if not all the nutrients in the oil or butter BUT will still moisturize your skin. Hope I cleared it up a bit.

Answer:	you can set the channel as far as others go you just have to find a channel that's open it has 22 so its not hard to do.thats what I do when hunting and there are a bunch of others with radios it works out fine.

Answer:	A GMRS license is only needed when you use over 2 watts of power. This radio can put out up to 0.13 watts of power, so it is well within the 2 watt limit for unlicensed usage in the USA. If you do decide to get a much more powerful radio, with an output of > 2 watts, then you would get a license (as I also have) that costs $70 for 10 years. ($7/year).
