True Adhoc (on-the-fly) Group/Private Calling

The DMR-6X2 has the ability to store 4000 channels and 10,000 talk-groups; but you still may want to call a new talk-group (without saving it to memory) or maybe traveling and using a new repeater; this is when adhoc becomes very useful.

Simply holding '0' on the keypad will allow you to dial a new group (or private call). The DMR-6X2 will display the Adhoc contact and type right on the main display until you change the channel.

Analog and DMR APRS Supported

The DMR-6X2 with the ability of the built-in GPS; can send both Analog and Digital APRS Packets.

Analog APRS is editable right on the radio menu without having to use programming software.

With Digital APRS; your current location will be sent as an APRS beacon*. This feature is set up through the free programming software and detailed in the software download.

DMR Digital Store & Forward Repeater

The DMR-6X2 has a built in recording chip which is utilized in the Store and Forward Repeater Mode (Not compatible in Analog mode)

Once toggled the DMR-6X2 will store and forward conversations on the same band or even as a cross band repeater. It records the incoming audio and once the signal drops - it will forward the audio to the assigned frequency (and vice versa). The DMR-6X2 will even allow you to store and forward on the same frequency.

The Store and Forward repeater can be assigned as a side key function from programming software. It is compatible with: VHF/VHF, UHF/UHF, VHF/UHF, and UHF/VHF.

Adjustable Scanning Features

The DMR-6X2 allows you to be in full control of your channel scanning lists. With up to 250 channels in a zone (and up to 4,000 channels in the radio); the ability to adjust your scanning bank (by adding or grouping scanning channels (and banks) together) allows you to have the perfect adjustment to the size of your channel list. This allows you to customize the scanning preferences to fit your needs.

You can scan a single channel list, and monitor a high priority channel (the DMR-6X2 will check back on the priority channel in between the normal scanning channels); or if you want to monitor the most traffic - you can combine scan lists together and scan through multiple linked lists together.

We tried to think of the simplest way to use the DMR-6X2; even down to how text messaging works. Instead of going through a menu to reply when you get a text message; you can simply hit reply to the received text message.

As a radio designed and focused for USA businesses and consumers; the DMR-6X2 uses imperial (versus metric) measurements while using the GPS display modes.

Using your favorite talk groups in DMR is now easier. By manually dialing a talk group, the DMR-6X2 will hold the talk group indefinitely until you change the channel. You can also set your maximum talk group hold time to 'infinity' while communicating with your favorite group or user (avoiding 'timing out').

In Analog mode the DMR-6X2 allows for CTCSS (PL/Privacy Tones), DCS, 2-Tone, DTMF, and 5-Tone. You can use multiple 5Tone, 2Tone, and DTMF receive and transmit groups for different channels (allowing commercial users to use several tone profiles from one radio).

Answer:	Yes you can, however the output power will drop drastically (form 5 to I think about 2W) with no indication on the display - it would still show “H” for High power. With the included battery pack though (which is essentially 5 1.2 NiMH AAA batteries in series) it achieves 5W transmit power. Which means if you buy it because of 5W output you must use battery pack. However battery pack does not last long. It is only 700mAh. Radio consumes 42mA on standby. So about 16 hours standby time if you don’t transmit. Charding time on the other hand is 12 hours. Make your own conclusions.

Answer:	There are certainly many different choices available to folks regarding radio choices. One frequently used example of this buying trap are the claims of 35 to 50 mile range from 1/2 watt UHF FRS/GMRS handheld radios with non-removable antennas (frequently seen on various Cobra, Midland, Motorola, and Uniden radios sold at various big box stores or on the internet). At UHF frequencies (and with a decent antenna), you’ll normally get around 1 mile of range for every 1 watt of power on transmit, so a 1/2 watt big box store FRS/GMRS radio is likely to get only 1/2 mile of range, nowhere near the 35 to 50 mile claims shown on the box in large type (with the phrase “under optimum conditions” shown in very small type). What that means is that if one individual is standing near the cliff face on a tall 9,000 ft. high mountain and his friend is doing the same thing 35 miles away (with nothing between the two mountains but air), then they “may” get the 35 mile range as advertised. When both individuals are at ground level, normal range is reduced to a 1/2 mile (or less) depending upon obstructions that may be in their way.

If the radio goes beyond 2 watts, even if you are only using the lower-power channels, you still need to spend the $70 for the 10 year license. immediate family can use radios with your license (and you on the channel).
