Answer:	Not well. Des Moines is on the Iowa Statewide Interoperable Communications System (ISICS) which uses many simulcast sites. If you’re in range of two towers broadcasting the same frequency you will have issues. The SDS100 and 200 are the only current Uniden scanners to handle simulcast well.

Answer:	I have the 996P2 with this GPS set but what is missing with Uniden is a Bios update as on MENU look into the GPS and on the current BIOS there is NO RANGE. I live in Raynham,Bristol, Massachusetts and why do I get , in my car a frequency of a city over 20 miles . I want to set the GPS only to 5 miles. The SDS200 can also receive Phase 2 digital systems, which the 197 can't do, and with optional firmware update the SDS200 can monitor DMR and ProVoice Digital, which the 197 can't do.

With the HomePatrol 2 Im able to monitor my local civilian airports, Nellis AFB, the Nevada Test and Training Range (NTTR) including Groom Lake aka Area 51 and the Tonopah Test Range. Theres a small piece of spectrum between 54 to 88 MHz where some military aircraft like to hangout that the HP2 cant receive, but all other bands (e.g. 30-50, 108-136, 138-144, 148-150.8, 162-174, 225-400, and 406-420 MHz) it will receive.
