Answer:	It depends on the package you are getting. You can get the radio only, the radio with cable and disc, or radio, cable, disc, and the HH 9900 quad band antenna. I opted for radio only and made my own cable, antenna, and power supply. Use a real PL2303 microchip if you choose to make your own cable.
Question:	can this unit be set up to scan more than two channels
Answer:	Yes, this unit allows you to select the channels you would like to scan directly from the face of the unit or the mic , depending on what you have the quick keys set for. All the info on this is in the manual that comes with the radio. Note: make sure you buy a radio that comes with the programming software disc and programming cable. If the ad shows or says it comes with programming cable then it should come with the software. At least that has been the case when I ordered and received my radio's.
Question:	Given that the radio will monitor two frequencies at the same time, can you switch between the two for a trx freq from the mircophone
Answer:	Yes. If you program one of the four buttons on the microphone, you can instantly switch transmit from the A and B sides.

Answer:	Yes, but the radio needs to be unlocked through the program: In the software, go under Frequency Range, press F11, and input password 9800TYT. It is illegal to transmit on FRS/GMRS frequencies, but not for emergencies and for listening.

Answer:	Yes you can, however the output power will drop drastically (form 5 to I think about 2W) with no indication on the display - it would still show “H” for High power. With the included battery pack though (which is essentially 5 1.2 NiMH AAA batteries in series) it achieves 5W transmit power. Which means if you buy it because of 5W output you must use battery pack. However battery pack does not last long. It is only 700mAh. Radio consumes 42mA on standby. So about 16 hours standby time if you don’t transmit. Charding time on the other hand is 12 hours. Make your own conclusions.

Answer:	There are certainly many different choices available to folks regarding radio choices. Many consumers, however, fall into the trap of believing the misleading advertising that various manufacturer’s use to help sell their products, especially when they are in panic mode due to a natural disaster (like an earthquake) or (currently) various lock-down scenarios due to the latest overseas virus. One frequently used example of this buying trap are the claims of 35 to 50 mile range from 1/2 watt UHF FRS/GMRS handheld radios with non-removable antennas (frequently seen on various Cobra, Midland, Motorola, and Uniden radios sold at various big box stores or on the internet). At UHF frequencies (and with a decent antenna), you’ll normally get around 1 mile of range for every 1 watt of power on transmit, so a 1/2 watt big box store FRS/GMRS radio is likely to get only 1/2 mile of range, nowhere near the 35 to 50 mile claims shown on the box in large type (with the phrase “under optimum conditions” shown in very small type). What that means is that if one individual is standing near the cliff face on a tall 9,000 ft. high mountain and his friend is doing the same thing 35 miles away (with nothing between the two mountains but air), then they “may” get the 35 mile range as advertised. When both individuals are at ground level, normal range is reduced to a 1/2 mile (or less) depending upon obstructions that may be in their way.

Answer:	Not well. Des Moines is on the Iowa Statewide Interoperable Communications System (ISICS) which uses many simulcast sites. If you’re in range of two towers broadcasting the same frequency you will have issues. The SDS100 and 200 are the only current Uniden scanners to handle simulcast well.

Question:	How long is battery life with moderate use
Answer:	Constant use would probably give you 4 or 5 hours. Moderate use could give you a full day or more. Of course, as with any battery, if you completely discharge the battery, you will notice that the life span of it will dwindle significantly. I would advise that you never fully discharge it. The radio will let yippy know when it's time to charge.
Question:	do these have voice scramble also know as beat shift
Answer:	Programmable privacy codes do not scramble or encrypt your voice signal. Any receiver on the channel that is set to the same privacy code will hear your voice signal, and any receiver that has no privacy code setting at all will also be able to hear your voice signal. Putting it a different way, the only receivers (within range) on your channel that would not be able to hear your encoded transmission will be those receivers that are set to a privacy code different from the code set on your radio.

Answer:	These radios can operate in and unlicensed band: 462.5375 - 462.7375 MHz (FRS: Family Radio service) You only needs license for all the other frequencies it can do. licensing and proper use is up to the purchaser, not the seller. if they scared every one away by telling them a license was required, no one would buy it.
