Question: | Where i can buy 230v version subwoofer online |
Answer: | Do you mean 230v (a single phase of three phase)? Or are you really talking about 240v (home, 2 phases of 120v). Either way I doubt you could find one. |
Question: | Could another second powered sub be connect to this one |
Answer: | Hi Sly_Shadow, Thank you so much for your inquiry. Unfortunately, no. The SA-CS9 115W 10” Active Subwoofer usually connect to an amplifier or AV receiver that supports one or both of the following connections: - MONO OUT jack - MIX OUT jack - SUBWOOFER output jack(s) - SUPER WOOFER output jack(s) • You can also connect an amplifier or AV receiver if it does not have the above-mentioned output jacks to the SPEAKER IN terminals of the subwoofer. I hope this helps! Sincerely, Romeo |
Question: | I have a 1994 sony str-d1015 home theater receiver but with no sub output in the back and i'm wondering how i would go about connecting this woofer to |
Answer: | You would simply run the wires from the left and right output of your receiver to the input of this subwoofer, then conenct both the left and right speakers to the output of the subwoofer. |
Question: | I have a yamaha r-s202, with 2 book shelf speakers in the A channel, can I just run the sub in B |
Answer: | Thanks for your question. If you have a sub with speaker level input you could probably get away with that. World Wide Stereo is 37 years old and a very proud Sony dealer. |

User questions & answers
Question: | What in your opinion is the best power setting for normal use, "on" or "auto" for this unit |
Answer: | I would say depends if you use the item everyday/constantly as your sound for your surround. Or if you use surround/theater occasionally. If the latter I would use `on/off` , if you use it often or primarily the auto would be the way to go in my opinion. Plus is the sub easy to get to? Auto is great if its behind furniture or out of reach, etc. |
Question: | Does this speaker have a volume control? Thanks |
Answer: | Just to clarify something a previous reviewer stated: "Note: If you are using a Sub out/LFE connection from your receiver turn the Low Pass all the way up. " This does not apply to receivers with which you can specify the low-pass cutover frequency. For example, my modest Onkyo receiver has cutover settings of 80/100/120 HZ for the LFE/Sub output. If you have this option, you should consult your main speaker's manual for suggested low-pass settings or simply tune them by ear. For my setup, 120 HZ was both the recommended and best-sounding cutover frequency. 160 HZ was a little muddy :) |
Question: | Can this sub be added to a Vizio 2.0 sound bar, for small to medium-sized HDTV's? If not, what should I get? For TV/Games/Music |
Answer: | Like John, I too have a Vizio 2.0 sound bar and this pairs very well. I have a small theater room (10 x 20) and this one 10" fills the room. This sub is the best bang for the buck you can get. |
Question: | Do I need a Y-adpater? A sound tech told me one sub wire would do the trick and just plug it into the L and ignore the R. Is this true |
Answer: | Initially, used a one wire connection. Sounded OK, but .... Got a "Y" connector, attached at the rear of the amp, ran L & R wires to the PSW10: sounds amazing now and very adjustable. Need to get the PSW12 to get a one wire connection. Am very satisfied with this sub and would recommend it. Used in a 12' X 20' room, front/back/center and now the sub. Tom |

Answer: | I had an earlier model of the same unit and I left it on, a few years later, it stopped working. You can barely hear something coming out. I replaced it with the new model. I am turning it off when not in use. |

Powered Subwoofer
The Easy Way to Rich Bass.
This compact subwoofer incorporates a number of Yamaha advanced, high-performance bass technologies, such as Twisted Flare Port, Advanced YST II (Yamaha Active Servo Technology II) with discrete amp circuitry and a high-quality 8" woofer unit. The resulting bass response is powerfully rich and impactful.
Clear and Tight Bass
The new Twisted Flare Port takes advantage of extensive subwoofer development experience. The gently twisting flared shape creates a smooth flow of air around the edge of the port versus the turbulent air flow around a conventional port. This reduces extraneous noise not present in the original input signal and provides clear, accurate low frequency reproduction. From special effect sounds in movies to the atmosphere of a live venue, you hear bass that is clear, tight and realistic.
Deep Lows
Developed by Yamaha, the Advanced YST II (Yamaha Active Servo Technology II) combines negative-impedance and constant-current principles to drive the speaker cone with even tighter control than the previous version. Using Advanced Negative Impedance Converter (ANIC) circuits, this system dynamically optimizes effective speaker impedance to maintain excellent linearity. This means more stable and accurate low range response, not to mention higher sound quality.
More than a Black Box
The gently rounded form with a slanted front surface is stylishly elegant. Designed to be unobtrusive, it’s sure to look beautiful in a living room or home theater room and will match a wide range of speaker systems. More than a black box, it’s the heartbeat of your home theater system.

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the frequency response |
Answer: | 53–50,000 Hz frequency response that is the specs from the Sony product page |
Question: | How is the bass to use without subwoofer |
Answer: | The SSCS5 has respectable bass response for a bookshelf, down to 50 Hz or so, but I would highly recommend you pair with a decent subwoofer for best results. I use the SSCS5 in a 2.1 setup in our master bedroom and they absolutely slay for movies and music! The imaging and soundstage is spectacular. Really no need for a full surround setup if space is limited or you don’t want to monkey around with wiring rear speakers. However, pairing these with a good subwoofer makes a world of difference in the impact you will experience for movies. If you listen to a lot of electronic music, a good sub is a must. |
Question: | What are the size(diameter) of tweeters / midranges / subwoofers ? And do these have passive crossovers inside |
Answer: | Dear Kim,There is a passive crossover in the speaker. 3/4" Super tweeter, 1" Tweeter, and 5 1/4" Woofer.Eric C |
Question: | This price is for a pair or are sold individually |
Answer: | Is this a pair of speakers or just one? |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will a 3000 watt reciever blow these speakers |
Answer: | Hi Carl. Thanks for your inquiry. The power handling capacity of this speaker (max.) is 145 W with a rated impedance of 6 ohms. If your receiver can handle the power input then it should work, However, you will also need to consider the ohm rating. When matching speakers and Audio/Video (A/V) receivers, the ohm rating of the speaker should be equal to or greater than the ohm rating of the receiver to avoid a risk of hardware damage. Hope this helps. Regards, Jess |
Question: | what is the cabinet material |
Answer: | High-density MDF, coated in black vinyl. |
Question: | Can I plug a microphone straight into one of these |
Answer: | Hi Maggie N., thanks for your inquiry. We're sorry but we cannot plug a microphone into the speaker directly. Erin |
Question: | What is the best match to this product for a better bass output |
Answer: | If you're looking for the best overall match the Sony Core SACS9 10" Powered Sub does quite well if you have a large room and RCA splitter or a receiver that supports dual subwoofers get 2 or buy a 12 or 15" subwoofer from Klipsch or SVS. It also depends on if you're using these more for Home Theater or Music. If you're going for Music I'd suggest 1-2 small subwoofers for a better response time if you're going for home theater only a larger subwoofer will give you more rumble for immersion. If you have a more mixed-use situation I think dual 10" Subwoofers are the sweet spot, and the Sony Core SACS9 Subwoofer is made to compliment the frequency response of the core series speakers and matches the aesthetic as well. |
Question: | What is the warranty |
Answer: | 2 year manufacturer warranty I believe |
Question: | What's the difference between this one and the latest version of this product: r-625fa dolby atmos floorstanding speaker |
Answer: | The R26FA are discontinued, and the firing port is in the front. The R625FA is a little bigger, box wise. Same size speakers as the R26FA. I don't see any real difference between the two. Both have the same wattage. |
Question: | What are the dimensions |
Answer: | Weight per speaker is 52lbs, Dimensions: 39” x 7.8” x 16.25” |
Question: | Demisions of speaker |
Answer: | Dimensions: 39” x 7.8” x 16.25” The box they come in makes them look over 4ft tall. Very well packaged |

Answer: | It's manual on and off but if your receiver has switched outlets (which is common) you can plug the power cord into one of them and then this subwoofer will turn on and off with your receiver. |
Question: | Is this a wooden box or plastic |
Answer: | It's wood. Only drawback is you have to manually turn on and off. Doesn't activate automatically when receiver is turned on. Otherwise a great sounding unit for the money. |
Product features
Powered Subwoofer
Excellent Bass for Movies and Music.
This subwoofer incorporates a number of Yamaha advanced, high-performance bass technologies, such as Twisted Flare Port, Advanced YST II (Yamaha Active Servo Technology II) with discrete amp circuitry and a high-quality 10" woofer unit.

Question: | I have a tcl 8 series tv. when connecting to the arc hdmi port, the volume coming out of the sound bar is very low compared to the tv speakers. why |
Answer: | Hi Jordan, The sound quality will depend on the source that you're playing. To isolate the issue, turn off and on the night mode of the soundbar and check if there is difference. Simply press the night button on the soundbar remote to set the function. You can also try some of the different TV audio output settings or possibly changing the video settings such as the movie mode vs standard. This can often change the way TV’s output the audio. Regards, David |
Question: | No sound by hdmi for tv source. Can some one help me? Bluetooth works fine |
Answer: | Hi Thrysca, We regret to hear about this. When the system and TV are connected with the HDMI cable only, check the following: – The HDMI jack of the connected TV is labeled with “eARC” or “ARC”. – The Control for HDMI function of the TV is set to on. – The eARC or ARC function of the TV is enabled. – [HDMI] - [EARC] is set to [ON] – [HDMI] - [CONTROL FOR HDMI] is set to [ON] – If your TV is not compatible with eARC, set [HDMI] - [EARC] to [OFF] – If your TV is not compatible with eARC or ARC, connect an optical digital cable – If the TV is not compatible with eARC or ARC, TV sound will not be output from the system even if the system is connected to the TV’s HDMI IN jack. Some TV’s will require you to select external speakers if you are using an external sound system so please check your TV settings for the choice between TV sound or external speakers and choose the external speaker option. Note that different TV manufacturers may have a different name such as, External sound, sound system, External audio out, or some other name to this effect.
