BIC America PL-980 3-way Floor Speakers
Unlike the majority of horn floor speakers on the market today, the PL-980s incorporate a 3-way multi-driver design rather than a 2-way design. Although many 2-way floor speakers offer outstanding performance, the PL-980's 3-way design enhances and refines mid frequencies which enable an extended soundstage, dynamic range, and frequency response. Their imaging and lifelike sound is as if looking through the performance stage front to back, very much like what is experienced audibly and visually at a live performance. The end result is the PL-980s reflect the warmth and 3-dimensional sound you would expect from high-end audio but for a fraction of the price

Question: | I'm probably going to go with a diy isolation base, but would the svs soundpath feet work on this speaker |
Answer: | Yes, but not really needed. |
Question: | what gauge wire do you recommend |
Answer: | 14 gauge is perfect if you're using bare wire to the speaker posts. You cam use 12 or 10 but I would recommend putting banana plugs on the end of those. I wouldn't recommend wire under 14 awg |
Question: | Are these speakers bi-wired |
Answer: | These are the typical wiring connection for speakers, black and red terminal. These speakers are ok at best, more for looks I would have to say. Provides little to no bass and has 4 subwoofers per speakers, 2 passive and 2 active. I have 2 of their pl 200 subwoofers so I didn't really care about the lack of bass, horns and tweeters are decent for the money. As good as klipsch I would say. |
Question: | Mine arrived with many holes in the bottom - are there supposed to be legs or little feet on the bottom |
Answer: | Those might be from screwing the black base onto the bottom of the wood cabinet? I just used some of the foam it came packaged inas a base to isolate the speaker from the floor (I have bare wood floor) and hot glued some black fabric over the foam. |

Question: | I was thinking of using this speaker for my laptop to listen to music. Will it require an amp? If so, any recomendations |
Answer: | This is a passive speaker and will need an amp. Not sure what kind of amps but something around 50w should be fine. Hope this helps. |
Question: | what does the LCR stand for |
Answer: | That stands for Left Center Right. IT can be used in any of the main positions in a home theater |
Question: | I have a harman kardon avr 347 5.1 setup in a fairly small room, will this center matchup with my other hk speakers&sound good? also looking at dt procenter1000 or polk tl3 is the horn a better choice than a tweater? I prefer more treble than thumping bass most of the time thanks |
Answer: | I cannot speak about the other speakers you mentioned, the BIC is in a small room so that is not a problem, with this speaker be careful about the amount of sound you put through it to keep it balanced. On the point Horn vs Tweeter You said you like allot of treble this is the speaker for you mid and high have a very clear and bright sound. Hope this is helpful. |
Question: | does this speaker come with a wall mount? or can it be mounted vertically on a wall to be used as a surround speaker |
Answer: | Yes brackets are on the back. And yes I am using mine for surrounds. They must be vertical for surrounds.Google for tech explanation on sound.BTW I love my Bics.Real man speakers! |

Question: | To clarify because the ad says both that this is for a single speaker and that this is for a pair, is this for one(1) or two(2) speakers |
Answer: | The price stated is for one speaker and is a very good price. When I purchased mine they were around $130 each. They are extremely good speakers. I have mine hooked up to a tube amplifier and they sound amazing. Turned to full volume they will make your house rock. A couple of tricks I learned from a you tube video: place them on speaker stands about 18”-24” from a wall because of the rear bass port, and remove the screws from the horn tweeters and rotate them 90 degrees for better sound dispersion. |
Question: | Two come for |
Answer: | No that is the price for each. And I must tell you they are 100 percent worth it. Great quality and sound. |
Question: | Is the price for a pair |
Answer: | No, price per one |
Question: | Is there a pair for sale |
Answer: | I do not have a pair for sale I apologize this is a per item price |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can these be easily mounted to dry wall? How heavy are they and will they require a solid stud mount |
Answer: | They can be mounted to a wall using the attached mounting hardware on the back of each speaker. They weigh about 8 to 15 pounds each (please check BIC specs for specifics since i cannot move mine to a scale for weighing) and should be mounted in a manner that will support a powered speaker that will vibrate and generate sound. These are hefty speakers and required a solid mounting method. I would recommend accessing a stud for secure mounting. I would also suggest some sound isolation material between the speaker and the wall (Foam or paper/cardboard that will minimize sound vibration through resonance). I would not do this in an appartment or next to a bedroom because you will hear the speakers through the wall. Due to the quality and punch from these babies, there will be sound transmitted through the wall if mounted that way. I have mine on speaker stands at ear level to address this issue. I also have a rear center speaker that i may actually mount on the wall. the wall will (in may case will most likely act as a sound resonator based on my room configuration.Good Luck with some great speakers. |

Question: | Will these surrounds be ok to mount in the corners of my room by the ceiling for to replace my def tech 600's? I need more sound from the rears |
Answer: | If you mean Definitive Technology ProCinema 600 in your initial question, and you are using those little things as front speakers, you may want to use these for the front, and put the front 600's in the rear. You said "to replace" - do you mean the little 600 speakers died? |
Question: | i am ordering a pair of these, a pl28ii and a pair of pl89II for front, h100 sub, what speakers go good for rear |
Answer: | You will want the PL-66 for the rears. That is what they are designed for. That is what I use. I have 2 pairs for my rears and they are sweet. |

The stunningly accurate BIC America DV62SIB 175-Watt 2-Way 6.5 In. Bookshelf and Surround Speakers have received numerous "best buy" ratings from a leading consumer buyer's guide magazine. Their long-throw 6.5 in. poly/graphite woofers deliver tight, accurate extended bass. Their patented Venturi vents assist in extended low frequency performance. Custom-designed poly dome tweeters and unique front cabinet angles enable minimal distortion resulting in clear mid and high frequencies. BIC America speakers are ideal for use with all surround and music formats. They can be used as mains speakers, a front or rear center, and as surrounds.
Attention, all bass lovers needing small speakers: this stately pair of Venturi DV62si bookshelf speakers from BIC America uses a patented and specially tuned rear-panel Venturi port to extend the its low-frequency response to an impressive 43 Hz, nearly a full octave below the capabilities of most bookshelf speakers--the place where kick drums kick and bass guitars growl their deepest. The 2-way speakers would suitably fill out your home theater with surround sound, enliven your dorm or apartment with music, or provide gentle background ambience in your bedroom or business.
Use one pair for stereo or surround applications or pick up 2 pairs (4 speakers) for use as the front and surround elements in a multichannel listening system. The speakers are magnetically shielded for distortion-free placement near your television or computer monitor. Video programs sound more lifelike and enveloping with timbrally matched speakers all around, and plenty of newer music formats--from the DTS surround CD to DVD-Audio and SACD--offer music from your favorite artists mixed expressly for surround-sound listening. (Alternately, you could use these as surround speakers with larger, floorstanding speakers for the front left/right channels.)
Standing just under 15 inches tall, the DV62si speakers each use a custom-designed .75-inch, ferrofluid-cooled dome tweeter for extended high frequencies and a 6-inch poly/graphite-blend woofer is light yet rigid for tight, accurate, and remarkably extended bass.

User questions & answers
Question: | Anyone using these as front left and right speakers in a home theater? How do they sound |
Answer: | Yes, I use these as front left and right speakers in a home theater. They are really good speakers. They are very clear and loud. Good range of sound...highs, lows, mids. I also have bic center speaker and smaller surrounds. You get a lot for the money with bic. I highly recommend them. |
Question: | Does this have a port for a 1/8" cable |
Answer: | Unless otherwise stated; bookshelf speakers are passive. That means they do not have an internal amplifier and an external amp is needed to drive them. These have binding posts for speaker wire to be connected to them. |
Question: | Does the extended electronics warrantys for purchase from four square and others on Amazon apply to speakers |
Answer: | You really do not need it.BIC has one of the best warranties on speakers you will find |
Question: | Can I connect them with Banana plugs |
Answer: | Yes. |

User questions & answers
Question: | This has Inputs for both Dolby Pro Logic and Dolby Digital/DTS. I play music/vids in both modes. How does this work, re: cable placement |
Answer: | Setting the switch to Dolby Pro Logic utilizes the Sub's built-in cross-over were Dolby Digital by-passes it and utilizes your receivers LFE filtering. You choose the mode, based of your receiver and the type of signal you are feeding it. |
Question: | Do I still need to buy an AV receiver to use this sub |
Answer: | The sub has a built in amp but it needs a sub signal from some source - maybe from your aluminum foil helmet |
Question: | How do I connect this subwoofer to my receiver if I do not have a sub output located on the back |
Answer: | I agree that getting a receiver with an RCA sub woofer output is best, a regular sub woofer output is second best and a regular speaker output is third. If it is a regular speaker output, see if your receiver will allow you to customize the output for that line. USE SHIELDED WIRE WHEN YOU CAN. My BIC picked up interference until I put in shielded cables. Twisted-pair may also aid in preventing extraneous noise. |
Question: | I'm considering purchasing the BIC America F12 Subwoofer, however, I see conflicting information in regards to the measurements. Can someone tell me the correct measurements of the speaker? Not shipping, not in the box size, just the actual size when out of the box. Thank you |
Answer: | One often sees two discordant product measurements on Amazon. The larger is always for the box (which no one cares about, at all). So the smaller is always the product measurement. Of course, sometimes you might only have one measurement and that could possibly be the box, which indicates sloppy imprecision from the distributor and makes you wonder what else is wrong. Others correctly answered your question so I won't (17H x 14-7/8W x 17-3/4D). |

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the difference in acoustic quality between the B5.2 and B |
Answer: | I'm using them as front stereo speakers with a subwoofer in my living room. I use them for stereo music and we use them when watching movies. They should be plenty loud. You'll have to find the right balance with them if you are using a center channel. Otherwise they will work fine. I have these and an 8 inch Yamaha subwoofer and it fills the room with sound during music and movies. |
Question: | Woofer size says 5.25" in listing. I think it is actually a 6.5" woofer in the B |
Answer: | These are now available |
Question: | I’m not an audio afficianado but wanted to know if theses are Bluetooth as well and also, exactly what components do you need to complete the sound |
Answer: | Youtube the demo of the 42xs and the 42s and decide. A crossover will always make a noticeable difference. With that said, the 42s and the Club3 (no crossover) are very good speakers in their own right. |
Question: | I’d like to purchase these speakers, an amplifier, and a subwoofer. What amp and subwoofer are the best for the price |
Answer: | I gotta say something here. This page is linked to a center channel speaker (with 3 SPEAKERS AND A CROSSOVER). The bookshelf speakers at the left are NOT the right ones to be linked to this ad. As for the "single speaker" nonsense, even a base unit 5.1 system uses a center channel speaker for accurate reproduction of dialog. Placed as close as you can to the front center spot in front of your tv can yield clear and precise sound for TV and movies. This is the description of the Micca described on this page. Micca MB42X-C Center Channel Speaker Note: MB42X-C speakers are not self-powered and require an amplifier or receiver to play music Enjoy amazing quality movie soundtrack and music in your home with the compact and budget friendly Micca MB42X-C center channel speaker. Handsomely styled with classic contours and updated design cues, the MB42X-C is easy to place and blends into any room or decor. Question: | what is the oz weight of the woofer and what size voice coil does it have as well |
Answer: | I am unable to answer this question but I can tell you that I am quite pleased with these speakers. They are loud, they are clear, and I am one who likes his music from zero to 2 and 3db and these speakers go and stay right there with a 525w Yamaha surround sound amp pushing them all the way. Great deal. |
Question: | What is the actual size of the cabinet? In inches and foot!! Please |

Question: | I was wondering if I can buy a pa speaker cabinet with 2 15inch woofers in it and hook to my home receiver/amp and get good bass and sound for music |
Answer: | You can yes depending on what your definition of good sound is, obviously buy your question I'd I would say bass is your primary concern correct? Make sure the ohm of the speakers you purchase match your receiver/amp, if you put 4 ohm speakers on a 8 ohm amp you could fry the amp. PA speakers by their design are for sustained increased volume levels which does not always equate to higher quality sound. |
Question: | I'm amplifying a Yamaha Clavinova Keyboard and assume these speakers will work. Are they better than the Sony SB |
Answer: | I love these speakers I admit at first for like a week i thought they sounded awful. They were just new. Now broken in they sound amazing. |

User questions & answers
Question: | why does this item show up when a search is done for Hsu subwoofer? Did Dr. Hsu design this item |
Answer: | I don't know, but I would recommend actually purchasing a HSU subwoofer over this. I Got the 12" HSU VTF-2 MK5 variable tuning sub and it's so much better. |
Question: | crossover toggle switch setting - out or in? manual does poor job explaining |
Answer: | If you are running a receiver or pre amp.. and it has an LFE or "sub out" on the back.. it is best to set the toggle on the bic pl- 200 to "Out" . This means that you are handing off the frequency crossover management away from the crossover in the pl 200 and giving control over to the receiver. This is especially best when watching movies. Don t be afraid to call the customer service of the company that makes your receiver and ask them what the best setting would be for music. For my denon avr ×-3000 I keep it set to " out" always. Also I highly recommend mediabridge shielded subwoofer cables. They are awesome and very inexpensive. If you can run 2 subwoofers off your receiver... look at Martin Logan 8inch sub on amazon. I run a splitter at the sub to increase +6 dB and it compliments the pl 200 incredibly! Hope I helped! |
Question: | How long is the sub woofer wire |
Answer: | Buy a good shielded sub woofer RCA cable or shielded speaker wire cable. I got the Mediabridge ULTRA Series Subwoofer Cable (15 Feet) Dual Shielded - and it works perfectly. |
Question: | Is a 100 watt receiver per channel at 8 ohm sufficient for this subwoofer |
Answer: | This subwoofer is a self powered sub with its OWN internal Amplifier therefore the output wattage of your receiver isn't a necessary worry. This is a great subwoofer and reaches deep clean bass notes. Enjoy. |

The BIC America DV62CLR-S 175 Watt 2-Way 3-Driver 6.5 In. Center Channel Speaker uses state-of-the-art components to produce lifelike sound and imaging rich in clarity. Its custom-designed .75 in. poly dome tweeter and dual 6.5 in. poly graphite woofers reproduce everything from whisper soft vocals in a jazz song to the loudest explosions in an action movie. Patented dual "Venturi" vents enable the DV62CLR-S to produce extended bass output down to 38 Hz!
To fully enjoy a surround sound soundtrack, listeners need a topnotch center channel speaker, and this BIC America two-way model more than qualifies. Described as "Hands down the best-sounding center speaker I've ever heard" by a reviewer at Home Theater Magazine, the DV-62CLRS boasts a combination of state-of-the-art component circuitry, three high-quality drivers, dual vents, and a unique crossover design to produce extremely lifelike sound and imaging. The speaker is built around two 6-inch polypropylene/graphite woofers and a 0.75-inch poly dome tweeter, which team to produce an extremely wide (for a center speaker) 38 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response. As a result, dialogue sounds rich and fluid, giving your DVD soundtracks added depth. Additional specs include a sensitivity rating of 90 dB, a 3.5 kHz crossover, and 8-ohm impedance.
The DV-62CLRS is compatible with a variety of amps, with a recommended power rating of 10 to 175 watts per channel. Listeners will also appreciate the speaker's attractive design, which features a relatively slim profile and a black laminate finish. For surround applications, the speakers perform particularly well when matched with other BIC America models, which are tonally matched to deliver a balanced audio profile. The company recommends using its DV84 tower speakers for the front channels, a pair of DV62si bookshelf speakers for the rear channels, and the V1215 subwoofer for top-level bass performance. All the speakers in the DV line are magnetically shielded to prevent video interference when located near a TV or monitor.
The speaker measures 20 by 7.65 by 10 inches (W x H x D) and carries a generous seven-year limited warranty on parts and labor.

User questions & answers
Question: | I have 4 bic dv62si as surround speakers in a 12x12 room. as a center ch. speaker will the dv62clrs overpower my surrounds or should i use a dv52clrb |
Answer: | The dv62clrs is the match to the dv62si, both have the same driver. I’ve used these same speakers as center and mains/surrounds in my theater speakers for years. Enjoy! |
Question: | Dv-62clrs as fronts for old receiver, music only |
Answer: | I don't have any experience with using the BIC DV-62CLR's as main front speakers...my installation has one as a center channel in a 5.1 surround system. However, the DV-62CLR would probably serve as front speakers very well, with the dual 6.5" giving a better bass response than the BIC DV-62si speakers. There are also several reviews on audioreview.com praising the use of the DV-62CLR's as main front speakers. |
Question: | there are two sets of dimensions listed..20 x7.65x10 or 23x11.4x13.6.. does anyone know which is accurate |
Answer: | Its 20 X 7.65 X10 |
Question: | will the dv-62clrs match up with dv 52si as front r & l? i have a sub to run the low end |
Answer: | The DV-62clrs has 2, 6.5in drivers and a.75 inch silk dome tweeter the DV 52si has a 5.25 inch driver and a .5 in tweeter. If you buy the DV 62clrs I would recommend using the DV62si bookshelf speakers as they have the same drivers and tweeters. If you already have the DV 52si I would recommend using the BIC AMERICA DV-52CLRB 5 1/4" 2-Way Center Channel Speaker as it has the same drivers as the DV 52si that way the speakers would be sonically matched. I originally had the DV 62si as my front left and right channels with the DV 62clrs and it sounded fine. I then bought a pair of DV 64's for the front left and right and now use the DV 62si as the rear left and right surrounds. I hope this helps and if you have more questions ask away I am more than willing to help someone pick a system that they will enjoy as much as I enjoy mine. I also have pictures of my system posted with each speaker I bought on amazon just look for my name Jack on the picture. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can I hook this up and use the extra connections if I already have large front speakers |
Answer: | Yes. You decide which connections you want to use. It has 5 separate input terminals for each 5.1 channel. You can hook up what you want or not hook what you do not need. |
Question: | Folks - how does music sounds through this sound bar? i already own the pl200 subwoofer |
Answer: | Music sounds ok, nothing spectacular. |
Question: | No subwoofer, should I set Crossover setting to 50hz |
Answer: | The sound bar has a lower range down to 37Hz. With no subwoofer added, you should not set your crossover above that, assuming a crossover point is even needed since you don’t have the subwoofer |
Question: | What kind of INPUTS does the unit have |
Answer: | This soundbar is really just a speaker and is not powered, that 625 watts is what it can handle if you hook it up to a receiver. It has speaker wire inputs only. I hope this helps you I hooked it up to my denon receiver and a 400 watt subwoofer and it sounds good you can really hear the center channel vocals clear |
