There was no mention of AppleCare in the package; I learned about it when I had a problem with the included charger and visited the Apple Store for help. Apple replaced it for free.

I'm a software engineering student, so this laptop would never work well enough for me, because I have to download a lot of big programs and am a little bit harder on my computer.
