Answer:	No It is a TACTICAL watch, was made for military use. I have it and have used it in Syria, Iraq and several other countries. It is a really good watch and has a great battery life, playing music would kill the battery.

Question:	Does this watch have a great compass,a good one, or none at all? I bought it for my son for Christmas the compass is an important feature for him
Answer:	Good Compass but not great Hold down on one of the buttons and the watch face becomes a compass. It shows the degrees (0-360) and the general direction (SE for example). You would not use this watch to plot a course on a map. For that, you can buy a compass for less than $20 that lie flat on a map, can be adjusted for a magnetic correction, they have lines, etc.

To add to the great answer you already got, you could use the included clip to clip it to your hat, but you might find it a bit heavy if it's on your brim, for example. The Canmore Golf GPS attaches to the clip using a magnet, so it's possible to remove it when you're ready to check the yardage. Answer:	Thanks for the great question. The H-300 comes with a charging cord only. We recommend using a computer or laptop USB port to charge the device (using the included cable), since the power output is better regulated (5 volts). Phone chargers such as an iPhone charger can also be used but be sure to use a high quality charger that only provides 5v — some inexpensive 'fast charger' models, especially car chargers, can sometimes exceed 5v and damage your H-300. Lastly, always unplug the charging cable at both ends after use. Addicidental contact with conductive surfaces may damage the cable or charging port. Answer:	In my case for a full season up north. Had about 60 rounds on the current batteries. The current batteries still working. I carry an extra in my bag just in case.

Answer:	I have the HRM Tri and I can get all advanced running data and analysis. The only difference between them is that the Tri version has a memory inside, so it stores data from the swimming portion. Other than that, they are the same.
Question:	How is the durability of this watch
Answer:	My worked great for 18 months. I loved it. Wore it daily. 2 full ironman races 3 halves and several other smaller races. Then I used it for 2 Xterra races. It quit halfway through Worlds on Maui. Bummer. Near as I can tell one of the buttons is frozen. I guess mountain biking is too much for it. I'm ordering a second watch but this time I will save it for training and races only. Get a cheapo Timex for daily wear and no more Xterra races with the Garmin just to be safe.
Question:	Can the watch be charged while running
Answer:	All the functions seem to work with the charging clip attached, but the clip would be incredibly uncomfortable if attached to the watch while being worn. The clip attaches to the watch at the "3 o'clock" position and is fairly bulky. It would likely interfere with the function of the on-board heart rate monitor since it clips to the bottom and top of the watch.

Answer:	I don't know about the band size, but the diameter of the cases on most all Expeditions is 40mm....That's too large. It looks like an alarm clock on your arm...I returned the one I bought. Having said that, I would like to have one with a case diameter not exceeding 35mm.

Answer:	I think the band is OK for occasional moisture such as rain, would not wear it the shower or say canoing or kayaking. It has a synthetic suede like backing that absorbs water and takes awhile to dry, especially while worn. I would be OK immersing the watch in water such as swimming ( not diving) but would swap out the exisitng band for a nylon one for those activities. Band looks nice though and is comfortable ( so long as it is not wet)

Question:	Does the phone you are sending a message to need a special app to receive it? Also, has anyone tried this in the Adirondack Mountains
Answer:	All inReach devices have the ability to send a message to someone's email or SMS number. The recipient does not need a special app, just the ability to receive the message and reply. While I have not hiked in the Adirondack Mountains, I know that we have beta testers in that area and can report lots of successful trips in the White Mountains of NH and the mountains of Maine.
Question:	How do you send messages? Is there a keyboard
Answer:	The inReach Mini doesn't have a virtual keyboard like the inReach Explorer+ but it does have a vertical scrolling list of letters, numbers, and symbols. This is similar to the interface you see on a Garmin wearable like the Fenix and it lets you send a custom message to one of your contacts or reply to an incoming message. You can also select and send one of your Quick Text replies that you modified before leaving on your trip. Selecting the Quick Text "Got your message, will reply when I get to camp." will save you the time to type a message and still let people know you heard from them. There are also Preset messages that are created ahead of time with specific text and specific recipients. Send "I'm checking in, everything is okay!" to your list of friends and family that are following along. Last option, the inReach Mini pairs via Bluetooth with the Earthmate app on your smartphone to let you use the touchscreen keyboard on that device, just like you do with your other texting apps. This is a good option if the weather is nice enough to take your phone out.

Answer:	There can be same confusion to the terms used to describe features on the InReach. I will try to define each and show its relevance... LOG INTERVAL: This is an internal feature of the InReach that records where you are at repeating intervals of time. You can set the interval. This log is your record of the journey. On the Explorer+ with its internal map these log points will be used to connect a line showing your locations over time as you travel. There is no cost for Log points. TRACKING POINTS: These are a unique and separate set of location recordings that are SENT via satellite and displayed on your MapShare site to let friends and family watch your progress. Since they are transmitted from your InReach in the backcountry via the Iridium satellites they cost you. The subscription plans have options that offer no included tracking points on the lowest cost plan (so you pay 10 cents for each one sent) to unlimited tracking points included with higher priced plans. LOCATION PINGS: A family member ot friend to whom you have given the password for your MapPage site will see a map. If you do not have tracking turned on they can locate your current position by clicking on a LOCATE button. This sends a signal via satellite to your InReach which respons with your location info. It is then displayed on the MapShare map. These location requests cost each time. They are included or not depending on the plan level you are using. WEYPOINTS: These are specific locations that you use to plan a hike. They are not related to your current location but where you would like to be in the future. They are created by you at home on your computer at your unique setup and planning site. So before your trip you create and save a series of weypoints or places that you wish to visit as you travel. Many people will set weypoints for important locations along there expected hike, Such as cross-trail locations, vista overlooks, and resupply locations or overnight huts. Once created they are saved on the Garmin server in your account. When you sync your InReach they are passed and stored within your InReach so they are available off-grid. Weypoints can also be added from the backcountry while hiking. They are available for your navigation on the InReach Explorer+ or on the EarthMate app on your phone connected to any InReach. Newly created weypoints from the trail will automatically be sent FREE to your Garmin account and show on your MapShare site. There is no cost to create and use weypoints. ROUTES: Like weypoints, you may create routes at home from your setup and planning site. On a computer you use a map to define the exact route you wish to follow by clicking on various locations along your intended hike. The system will connect these locations with a line which it calls a route. These routes may be named and saved in your account. Routes may include predefined weypoints but it is not necessary. Question:	When in "normal" non-exercise mode, can i set the watch face just to display time, day & date
Answer:	Yes, I wear it as a watch that normally displays time, date and battery life. Then I can toggle thru other displays when I want to see heart rate, steps, weather, calendar, workout, or any of the other features.
Question:	Does the GPS work if it's covered by a jacket or long sleeved shirt
Answer:	I purchased this for my wife so I do not use it however I am a surveyor so I do have vast experience with GPS. GPS signals will not be hindered by thin materials such as cloth. Inside buildings with wood and shingle roofs will throw the location of a bit reducing the accuracy. GPS signals simply do not penetrate metal objects. That being said you should not experience any loss of signal or accuracy using typical clothing items. You may experience some issues if the device was covered with something metallic such as those solar blankets. Perhaps a good experiment to ease your mind is use your cell phone's GPS tucked into your sleeve as the technology is nearly identical in all small consumer products.
Question:	Is it water resistant
Answer:	Yes, it is...I looked at the manual and the water rating is actually 5 ATM (atmospheres), not 5 meters. 5 ATM actually equates to about 50 meters deep, so technically you could swim or shower with this watch just fine. Question:	Does this watch have continuous heart rate monitoring like the fitbit surge
Answer:	I am not familiar with the fitbit however this garmin 235 monitors your heart rate constantly as long as you are wearing it. I wear mine even while I am sleeping. It is neat to see my resting heartbeat. Love it!

Question:	Does it track or can I add snowboarding as one of the the sports
Answer:	Sort of.... it offers an "other" activity on the watch which will GPS track time, distance and heartrate. Once uploaded into the app you can then change activity type to snowboarding in the app (you can choose between backcountry or "resort" snowboarding)

Answer:	yes, it works well for the price point. I had this before i upgraded to the 935. GPS is the same on both.
Question:	What’s the intended country of use? each model has shown europe, asia, us. this one does not indicate. the cheaper ones have been non-us so far
Answer:	Mine was for the United States
Question:	Can you see the pace your entire run out do you have to toggle screens to get to it each time? I like to check my pace very often
Answer:	Entire run if you choose. You can actually have up to four (4) data screens on the watch at once in the same screen. You can set up the screen to have 1-4 metrics. You can have up to 2 screens total, I believe, so 8 metrics if you toggle back and forth. I just keep total time, lap time, lap pace and lap count on one and some of the other stuff in the second screen. It’s designed to show what you choose to be shown. It’s a great feature.
