First the Tracking unit receives a GPS signal from the sky, this signal can go through plastics, fabrics, under a car seat, in the glove compartment, even under a car. Testing your tracker is the best way to find out where it will work best for you.



Next, a second signal is sent from the tracking unit to our servers; using cellular networks for real time tracking. When no cellular signal is available the Tracking Unit will save the track in its memory until it regains signal. Battery charge can last up to 2 weeks depending on use. You can set a low battery alerts.



Lastly, you will access all this information through the custom Smart Phone App or tracking website with Google Maps.



Sometimes you may get a drift on the map position if the Tracking Unit is placed in a much concealed location or indoors.

Please be aware that the signal will not work if the Tracker is totally enclosed in metal or inside buildings.

Answer:	Typically the battery last about 2 months per charge. However, the longevity of the charge depends on the movement of the vehicle. For instance, if the vehicle is moving frequently the battery may discharge more quickly since it has to update our servers and send data more frequently. If the vehicle only moves a few times a week, the battery will last longer because the device enters sleep mode and it updates our service at a lower frequency. Our GPS tracking service does monitor the battery life for you, you can configure the system to automatically send you an e-mail or text message when the charge is below a certain level. You can also monitor the battery charge yourself as you login to the application. The max amount of time the device can last on a single charge is 240 days, this is based on the unit being in sleep/standby mode. After the initial charge it will take between 8-12 hours to charge an empty battery to 100%.

The routes driven take a little while to show up but does show where vehicle started engine and shut off engine and a few highlight of the route it took.
